I hiked this trail with about 3 to 5 in of snow on the ground with snow falling. the paved trails were clear and you could still find some of the walking trails. It was fun to get off the path and put my Sorel boots to good use. It was a very peaceful day and there was little Auto or pedestrian traffic. Dawes is beautiful any time of year.

Beautiful hike defanitly go after some rain for the waterfalls

My lazy three year old and active five year old enjoyed it. Nice gravel path, which makes it ideal for soggier days. And very clean bathrooms!

An incredibly beautiful walk through the gorge and on the rim. It is busy from the park office to the old mans cave then all the non-hikers turn back. Once you are past the old man’s cave the number of hikers decreases immensely. It’s a beautiful, peaceful walk that has only a few moderate areas of hiking. I will definitely be back.

Perfect little loop to get me and my dog out for a quick hike!

We always skipped Cantwell Cliffs because I thought it was a climbing area. We went today for the first time and loved it! We did both trails and will definitely recommend them to fellow hikers. A good place to bring trekking poles and waterproof shoes. Lots of weathered/steep stairs to navigate and several stream crossings.

Quiet little hike. Great natural play area for kids.

Great trail, I little wet this time of year. There are also a few downed trees between Cedar Falls and Ash Cave.

Easiest and possibly one of the most beautiful spots in the Hocking Hills trail system. Trail is paved and handicap accessible. there is a small loop option for the fully-abled, to go into the cave and behind the waterfall. Have already been here a few times, even took my cat in his harness and leash - he loved it too.

Beautiful hike, but be aware that if you start at the Cedar Falls parking lot trail head, there are a LOT of steps with varying heights, from 3" to 12". They begin and end the hike. I would rate this trail moderate based on that.

Another day exploring the “this is not a trail” (s) with my person.Great hike and great captures☺️ 

we've been going here for years! never knew it was considered hard

One of my favorite spots in Hocking Hills. They added a concrete wall inside of the formation to prevent you from climbing out on the edge now but you can easily hop over it. There’s an easy way there, and “difficult”. Views from here in the fall are spectacular!

Sooo I loved this hike! I’m in my thirties.. very do-able. However, my two hiking buds were in their 60s annnd this was a bit strenuous for them. 100% recommend trekking poles for someone who isn’t as able- bodied or wants that extra support. I would describe it as light rock crawling lol ... muddy, sometimes slick. I’d say it was about 6 miles round trip. The trail was beautiful though! I just probably wouldn’t have chosen this trail if I knew it was going to be as challenging for those I was with. I’d also leave the pups at home... ours pull way too much for this one. I’ll be back better prepared :) and wear better footwear than tennis shoes.. I doubt this area is ever dry.

A busy, short trail. Lots of kids. The rock house is a must see. Easy hike. Squeeze this hike into your day!

We loved this trail! The trail along the river is paved and really scenic and then we circled back on the gorge overlook portion, which is through the woods but pretty well marked. The kids (13 and 9) really liked it and it was good exercise but not overly strenuous.

This was a great trail ... 5 hours and done

Steps and steps and more steps! Loved it

pretty crowded, steep steps, requires some careful climbing, goes to inside of a cave formation with uneven ground. kids love it for exploring, feels like a short walk just a little challenging

lots of steps but short path, we all liked it, good for families

The Gorge Overlook was a pleasant, easy trail. It gets crowded by Old Man’s Cave. Recommend to go early morning to beat the crowds.

Easy hike. The falls are really pretty. Good for all skill levels. We combined this with a number of other trails of varying difficulty today and this leg was definitely a highlight. It can get crowded starting mid morning on the weekend.

Nice, short hike. Lots of people.

We hiked on Tues., Oct. 9th, 10:30a.m. Great trail, but not easy. Hiked Cedar Falls to Rose Lake, to Old Man’s Cave, then Whispering Falls and finished at the entrance to Cedar. 7 mile loop total, and the signs stating the distances between aren’t accurate. Took longer than expected, but there are a lot of roots to navigate your footing on so you don’t twist an ankle. Some muddy and washed out narrow trail spots, and some rock scrambling, but if you take your time and be careful, you’re good. We took our pup and she was able to handle it, but it may be too much for an older/arthritic dog. Beautiful and peaceful for almost the whole hike. Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls can be quite busy at times since they are short hikes in from the parking lots.

As other have mentioned, the distance is more like 12 than 10. The south loop from Old Man’s Cave to Cedar Falls was the most scenic and only one small section would I classify as “hard” — otherwise the trail is easy to moderate throughout. Most of the trail is a wide gravel trail with easy ups and downs.

Went with my wife. It was beautiful and able to get great shots.
