Many options of trails with beautiful views.

One of the first hikes I’ve done in L.A. Love the observatory so this easy hike is a given. At night you get the full E.T. View from near the top. At the bottom during the day you can stop at Trails cafe. Great spot to take visitors from out of town.

UNA EXCELENTE AVENTURA UNA MANERA DE ECONTRARCE CON LA NATURALEZA ...

I love this hike. I been here many times just because its such a beautiful hike.
First off, The parking is great with lots of space. Bathrooms are a bit dirty. Bring your own toilet paper!. the hike to the mine over the white gate beginning point is moderate. 2 miles of beautiful scenery and nature. At points a bit slippery so hold on to your kids and dogs. Once you make it to the Mine, the views are amazing for pictures and sunsets. when you enter the mine. bring flashlights

Great hike and views. Wasn't very crowded either.

Great hike, bring and carry water though.

Great hike. Lots and lots of snakes guys. Be careful

Took this trail downward coming from Chantry. Did a solid 24 mile hike. Reviewing this section because I wanted to give a shout out to the chap we bummed water from because we were at dangerous levels of dehydration. Lesson one, this whole area is very dry and has no water to speak of. Exiting from this location coming from Red Box, make sure you have tons of water during the summer.

spectacular views, honestly one of the best moderate trails I've visited.

Great hike, gives you a good workout and beautiful views. I took my kids and our dog and they had no problem getting to the mine. My kids loved exploring in the mine it was fun... just take flash lights and you'll be ok. I would of given this trail 5 stars, but there is way too much graffiti and trash everywhere.

Loved this trail! Nobody in our group had to use trekking poles. This is a rocky trail! I wish someone would have posted that! This is a dog friendly trail. There are nice spots with shade to rest. Lots of bees at the mine! Nobody got stung but they were annoying. Many places for photo opportunities. Please take your trash with you leave no trace! Great hike for children’s 8 and up. Keep your dogs on a leash. Have fun!

Nice views. Go early.

Overall pretty hike- but two of the trails on this particular route are closed. If you truly follow it - you make your way through area of very loose soil on the RIM trail and the second closure is close to the cliffs/ water. That piece of the trail is completely blocked and no one can enter. All elevation is at the end (as the information shows).

Dogs are allowed but be aware there are coyotes. I was with my daughter and two dogs. A coyote came up behind us and I think he was eyeing the smaller dog. Be careful!!

Nice winding narrow cliff trail with great views. Not for those afraid of heights or children. Up top you will find the old mountain house ruins and history plaques making it my favorite hike thus far.

Easy hike with good incline. Love this hike up to the observatory for sunset

Great workout. Nice view in lieu of copious smog. The 'Echo Phone' is a blast!

Awesome hike! Be sure to go counter clockwise. You get the shade going up hill.

RPV has limited parking here, so weekends are tough. Lots of people on the weekend. There was another review that said the heard Mountain Lions: we don't have them here, but there are coyotes.

Hot, steep, and exposed, but beautiful! If you’re hoping to escape the typical Malibu crowds and get a solid workout in, this is a great place to hike. You can pop over to the beach after and jump in the water to cool down. Just know that it’s not casual.

Pretty cool trail. Great views. Watch out for rattlesnakes when you get to the mine. Had a run in with one of them. You don’t know fear until you hear that death rattle.

Plenty of trails to choose.

The mine has such great views. Has always been a favorite hike. Last time I went, there was a lot of trash, so don’t forget to clean up after yourselves.

My favorite hiking trail, the sunrise and sunset is amazing and it’s quick and easy.

Amazing workout and views!

Came early in the middle of the week and was able to find parking pretty easily on Ferndell. Beginning of the hike was nicely shaded, but the majority of the trail up to Griffith Observatory was not. Pretty much a steady incline up to the top, but great views from the observatory and bathrooms at the top! Was a breeze to go back down the hill. Able to see the Hollywood sign and on nice days able to see downtown LA.

This trail is great if you are looking for a solid 5 mile hike. It is a great hike if you are looking for a workout. You gain a decent amount of elevation (1400 ft) so you get high enough for a view of the San Gabriel Valley. The air conditions were pretty terrible with the smog from Los Angeles and the smoke from the several forest fires throughout SoCal. It is a very crowded trail so I prefer doing it at night and being able to see all of the city lights. I did see a rattle snake right on the trail so I would be aware and not play your music too loud so you can hear it.
