beautiful mason lake makes the hike and elevation gain worth it. took my dog and we both went for a swim in mason lake. gorgeous views all along the way. saw lots of fellow hikers along the way.

Easy with kids! Wish we had packed a picnic!

The lake is just magical. Must return on a clear day.

We did this hike on Friday, 8/17/18. Glad we did since it wasn't as hazy out as the day after. We got there after 3 PM and the parking lot was full. We hiked it counterclockwise. Breathtaking views everywhere! Some hikers warned us about a black bear although we didn't see one. Lots of marmots and chipmunks tho! I highly recommend this trail. Will definitely go back!

Phenomenal hike, definitely harder than I thought it would be but totally worth it. Snow Lake was colder but it felt so good to swim in such a clean lake :) View from the top before heading down to the lake is so worth it!!!

I love how the hike is short, and intense. The view was breathtaking but the bugs were out there and WILD. The majority of the view was covered with smoke from the wild fire but it was still beautiful. I love how for this trial you get 360 view all around you.

We did this hike last week. We luckily counted on a break in the smoke from the Canada fires. The views are stunning and there are still some wildflowers along the trail. I highly recommend this trail but do it early and on a weekday if you can.

I’m 22, 5’1, 120lbs and I left my body and soul on the trail. This is hike is definitely difficult. It took my group and I about 3.5+ hours to get to the lake. I’d say this hike has 2 parts. The first part is the most intense, you’re going on a steep uphill for about 2 hours? It seems like never ending, never look up it’s discouraging. Bugs weren’t bad, weather was fine. The second part is when it plateaus a little then you go down hill for 1.5 hours? When you get to the lake go to the small little water fall on the left side of the lake it’s beautiful there. Water is cold.
Tip: WEAR GOOD SHOES. I wore running shoes and they were not comfortable throughout the trip
Bring at least 2L of water! You will be sweating tons
Enjoy the hike!

Hike is okay. The view is nothing spectacular up top. When I got back at 10am Sunday, the parking lot was full, so get there early.

Great trail to the waterfall. Show up early and it's not bad.

Much more enjoyable than the zoo at Snoqualmie Falls.

If you want to hop off your tour bus and see some easy waterfalls then you will enjoy. if you want to hike to the bottom of the falls and escape the tour buses then you will not enjoy. The hike to the bottom is just a viewing platform, you are not able to get very close to the water unfortunately.

Lots of parking and people.

Amazing views and a moderate hike. Would give 5 stars but the amount of people brings down the appeal a little bit. At 3pm on a Tuesday there were around 25 people at the top.

I actually came in through the Little Mashel Falls - Bud Blancher Trail the starts south of Eatonville. I suggest to use this trail instead of going through the Pack Forest to get to the falls. The Falls are great, but would be better in the winter time with more water on the river. Very cool hiking around the falls. Steep at some points but trials are well maintained and open. Countless areas to swim and kick back on the rocks.

Been there on 2018/06/16 Saturday. Best hiking place. It is a package with nice lake at the base and very good views from the top. Very big parking lot. And nice picnic area at the lake. Good place for Kayaking in lake. Relatively near by and easily accessible from Issaquah and I-90.

Been there on 2018/06/02. Very good hike. Lot of crowd. Paragliding at the same point. Near to Issaquah Front street. Has a designated parking lot but small. I would go there again.

Loved it. The stairs were rough but after that, it was amazing. The difference in views around each corner was breathtaking. Then of course the payoff at the end. ♥️

Good short hike. Good elevation to get your body working. Very heavily trafficked. We reached at 8:45 am and parking was starting to get full, and while coming back there were even more people going up.
The view from the top is spectacular, only problem being the high number of people. Overall a good hike.

Beautiful hike all the way up. Definitely tough with the quick elevation but the views make it totally worth it. Bugs are an awful but as long as you’re moving they aren’t too bad. Very seep ledge and no flat surfaces at the top, I would not feel comfortable bringing younger children. I saw some people in flip flops walking up and that is just a disaster waiting to happen.

This wasn’t my favorite hike for several reasons. This is a VERY populated hike. Way too many people on this touristy trail. The view and scenery was just ok. For a beginner, I’m sure it’s spectacular. But I’ve been on more beautiful hikes in the Mt Rainier and Mt Baker areas. It is a nice soft and well groomed trail but extremely dusty and dirty. Your shoes will be covered with dust/dirt after this hike. It took almost 7 miles (3hrs) in and out to the Freemont Lookout so its a nice little walk with some inclines. I would rate this as moderate. The view of Mt Rainier was fairly obstructed by all the wildfire smoke unfortunately. You are not able to access the lakes here because they are off limits but there are lots of trail offshoots and loops. The best thing about this hike for me was the wild life. Saw a marmot, lots of chipmunks, and other little small mammals that look like gerbils and guinea pigs! Also, be aware that on weekends, the line through the ranger station at the park’s entrance at 410 is crowded and will take a long time to get through even with a pass.

Pretty hike! Way too many people...

Arrived at 10am on Saturday, August 18. Main lot was full but the overflow lot had plenty of spaces. Trail was beautiful and well marked with lots of options to jet off and take other loops along the way. There were a lot of people on the trail between 10 and 12:30, including some groups preparing for Rainier. You have a view of Rainier almost the entire way, and about halfway through the loop you get to Panorama Point, where you can see the cascade range including a view of Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood on a clear day. It was hazy from the wildfires but we did see the top of Mt. Adams.

Beautiful hike, we love it

It was harder than i thought, but the view was worth it. Wear your hiking shoes, u wont regret it. We started the trail at 7am, so it was not crowded.

I’m new to hiking so I wasn’t sure how I’d do on this one being all uphill but it wasn’t so hard to get to Comet Falls and it was beautiful all the way. We went ahead and went all the way to Van Trump Park, which for me was quite a challenge. My phone tracked me going up 150 flights in less than 4 miles. At the top we saw some mountain goats in the distance. It was beautiful up there.

First hike in the PNW and although it was great to get out... this hikes “work to reward” (views) ratio was lackluster.

Fantastic hike. You get to experience all sorts of terrain :) And no bugs whatsoever this morning. It was good knowing that most of the elevation gain occurred as you approach Hemlock pass. Consistent pace is the key.

Such a beautiful hike! My husband and I climbed to the top of the waterfall and just soaked in the view. The water is a pretty blue green color. The trail is fairly easy. I highly suggest this hike.

Well maintained, light traffic, beautiful and not a huge commitment. I had trekking poles but didn’t hugely need them. No sign of bears, just an odd amount of slugs drying in the sun. Easy parking, free and no way to get lost.

I went on this hike twice. It has a nice view and you could see people jumping off for paragliding. The trail is well marked and easy to find your way to the top. There’s an incline most of the way to the top but the incline isn’t steep. This is a good beginners hike and the views are definitely worth it.

Did the skyline trail on a busy Sunday morning but it didn't feel crowded. We managed to get parking in the main lot since we arrived early. At one point on the trail we could see the long lines of cars trying to find parking.

A moderate hike that was easily marked. Just arrive early!
