on Hastain Trail

The whole trail has constant car traffic. Not very safe at all

First hike my daughter went on and she loved it. Great for beginners and nice scenery

I love this place “ Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”

I love this trail, but the amount of people hanging out here just waiting to spot a celebrity is insane. The foot traffic is nearly as terrible as LA traffic. The upside? So many doggos running free just waiting to be petted! It’s definitely a good hike if you wanna get a good sweat going though.

I ran into Joe Rogan strangling a bear with his bear-hands and when I saw this the Bear noticed me and that made Joe turn to me and the bear Ran off. Joe then nonchalantly turns to me and says, "Sup Dude." then just jogs off into the wilderness. I still can't believe what I saw but this was a great and challenging trail.

This trail was amazing. I luckily got parking right at the bottom of the hill. They don’t allow parking on a Tuesday from 12pm-??? Because of street sweeping, luckily I was able to get there before 12 and snag a spot.

The trail I hiked it was paved for the most part which was cool and easy to walk. It did have great inclines but I guess because I’m used to hiking steeper inclines it was easy. The views are panoramic from any area and it’s absolutely spectacular.

This trail will definitely make you want to get fit... there are so many beautiful bodies (LOL) guys and girls. Bodies where you see, and you’re just like “damn... I want to be that”.

The trail has no bathrooms so go either in your car in a bottle or definitely make a pit stop somewhere else before you head up there.

I will definitely be back! I can’t wait to try out the other trails this place has to offer!

Great afternoon hike!

Despite there no longer being a waterfall, the area where it once was is still very pretty. The dried riverbed was at times better to hike along since the trail is not maintained and currently has a lot of poison oak. Also there were lots of signs to watch out for rattlesnakes, though we didn’t see any along the way. Overall no regrets about going just to see those rocks at the end but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go again when there’s so many different trails to choose from in this area.

Love this hike in the morning. Great sunrise over the mountains.

Amazing views of L.A

Great hike with a good vibe. Lots of people and lots of dogs. Trail is well marked. Snacks and water were for sale at entrance for reasonable price.

My favorite hike this far it’s pretty steep and pretty hard but got through it. It’s one of those hikes that you can’t really go back once you’ve started the trail back down where you start is even steeper so you have to push through the extra mile. I can’t wait to do it again now that I know what to expect I was expecting after the 1/2 mile to be another 1/2 mile but it was like an extra 2plus miles but still better then turning around. I hope you wear shoes with traction my shoes had none so it was a lot more difficult getting up those steep mountains and getting down. Your going to need a lot of water FYI.

This is a vigorous hike. The trail was clear, but is was sometimes difficult to stay on track. The app really helped. It took me a little over 6 hours to complete this hike because of the heat. I would stop often to cool off whenever I could find some shade, which is difficult at times. I will do this hike again when it is cooler. There are a lot of uphill sections. Bring lots of water!

I'll do this trail again when there's actual water in the creek/waterfall.

We really enjoyed this hike! Not a lot of shade so I’d recommend going on a cool day. Tracking on Strava it said 6.9miles and 2,028ft elevation gain.

I spent all day at this hiking site!
The main trail is intensive at the beginning with great views of the mountains and city. After reaching the top there’s a cool rock structure you can climb for a much better view of the sunset!
From there the rest of the trail is much smoother. Towards the other end of the road ( Franklin Canyon Park) there is a lake (no swimming) with tables benches to seat. There is parking and has access to restrooms on both ends of the trail (Lake Dr) and Franklin Canyon P! Totally recommend!

It's a good workout but not much of a nature trail. Most of the trail is paved (even for the longest route). Parking is terrible. I got there at 7:45 and had to park half a mile away.

Good for views and exercise but not much of a nature trail.

Amazing views of Hollywood and Los Angeles. Parking could be an issue but after 3 or 4 round you finally find it! The trail is not really hard but there is no shade at all, so bring a hat and sunscreen. It is a great place to go for a quick hike and I would definitely go back soon!

Beautiful walk along the beach. Go early to avoid the tide so you can get to the restaurant.

Good view of the city.

The start is not a regular trail...You just start walking along the beach by a restaurant. The workers kept wondering why people were looking for a trailhead and it’s because of this app. If tide is low, you can walk along the beach. If not, you have to do just the regular Point Dume hike. Gorgeous hike either way! 4 stars it was confusing at first since there is no formal trailhead.

This is a great hike. Took me 5 1/2 hours to complete, including the walk to and from Sunset to get to the loop. The whole trail is open, but many sections of the Backbone Trail are covered over by tall weeds. I think this will be a regular for me.

Started 8:45am. Weather misty entire hike. Started clockwise. 5.4 mi in, Will Rogers trail closed (why rated only 3 stars). Tried anyway: Trail completely overgrown, miner landslides, then heard large animal coming my way, so about 50 to 100 steps in turned around and returned way I hiked in. So only 10.5 mi hike. Hike up was beautiful though.

This is a great trail, with hiking for all sorts of skills, but it is generally steep.  There is a fire road that is pretty well paved and wide.  There on the west side is an off road type hiking trail where some sort of boots are recommended.  The trails all intersect so I recommend taking a picture of the map when you start because you'll have no cell service and you don't want to be hiking in endless loops.  Plenty of people on the trail but parking is limited for sure and they do ticket

This hike renders a wonderful view of Hollywood/LA and the trail head was easy to find. Be prepared to spend some time looking for parking. However this trail offers some decent incline/decline and is great for a quick hike/workout. There is no shade on the trail, bring a large hat and some water. You'll be just fine!.

Freakin hot out, suggest going at dusk or dawn. Not a whole lot of shade. Good trails, good views, not crowded but a popular spot.
