Love it , bring water shoes and hiking shoes!!!

Love it.

This hike is a great one to test your foot placement :) Lots of roots and rocks and technical aspects. Great serious uphills (and downhills, since it is a loop). This is one of the more strenuous hikes I have done. Trekking poles are a big help for stability. No long-range views, just some nice scenery within the trail itself. Great photo stops (babbling brook, fern gardens, etc). Trail is very well marked with blazes.

Great trails for running and hiking.

Take a lite lunch up top, and enjoy the view.

I’ve hiked this trail with my boyfriend and just did the same route alone. Started at the North Trailhead meaning it was a serious uphill hike right from the start. Bypassed Eagles Nest overlook and stopped at Kings chair. I had limited time and King’s Chair is my favorite. Stayed on blue to Orange Bypass. Was looking for the marker where the bomber plane crashed but must have missed it. Returned on Red which is a bike trail. Dry season so the regular spots where there was running water was dry. Very few people on the trail. None after I left King’s Chair. It was a great hike.

Great trail. Gets crowded but worth it.

Great training Mountain, especially starting at the opposite side of the trail and heading straight up. Blazes are easy to follow. it is a pretty hike, but no views from the top.

enjoy this loop. Will incorporate some cut-off trails to legnthen.

Love this trail— takes about 2-3 hours (if taking your time) out and back. I go with my doggo, and we usually don’t see anyone until we get to the falls. Once you get to peavine falls it’s a little difficult to find them, but if you keep going on the “top of falls” path, you’ll get over a hill to the bottom of the falls. 10/10 would recommend.

nice and cool this morning , perfect trekking weather.

start your day early, very busy on wknds. Pigeon hill trail most challenging. Drink plenty of water !!!

Very busy on the weekends so get there early

10.7 miles? Maybe around 16 according to mile marker signs

It was a nice trail, A little strenuous in places, but not too bad. At the beginning there was a lot of trash, but further in it the trail was pretty and tranquil. We were the only one's there.

Quick hike to get the kids out and into the woods. Followed it up with the Treetop loop so my 2 yr old could see the rehabbing owls, vultures and hawks. She loved it!

Just an fyi...there are a couple of big trees that came down right where the yellow and red trails meet. Someone with some saws or something need to cut a new path. Couldnt get to the red trail.

awesome trail. had a great time with my gf and dog.

It was a Sunday after some rainy days so the parking lot was pretty packed. But I wouldn't let that deter you. I don't really think it should be rated as difficult though. There were a lot of families and kids going the red trail so I took the yellow. It was ok. Only two inclines that got my heart rate up a little. I finished the yellow and took the orange. That one was nice. Gradual inclines and gradual declines. I saw only 2 people on the way out so it was much less trafficked than the yellow or red.

Love to take my dog out here and have a nice picnic by the waterfalls. I’ve done this trail several times and it’s always fun but I would definitely give it more than a “moderate” rating. Some of the trails are very tough/steep. Some waterfalls you will have to climb over many large rocks to get to. I would not recommend this for children if you are trying to do the entire path. But this is the best spot I’ve visited thus far that’s close to Baton Rouge

Always been the best trail to go to in Louisiana. Really wish there were trials as good as this one closer to BR. If you go before summer hits, the waterfalls should have water. If you go in the late summer a lot of them dry up. The trail markers can be hard to find sometimes...typically if you can’t find one that means you went the wrong way haha. Never had problems with wildlife (spiders, snakes) here. My dog loved it

Cool hiking place. End of the red trail was a little challenging because of the steep hills. However, it really worth it. After taking a lunch break, we also went for the yellow trail. Less crowded and have an awesome bridge to take a good photo.

We did the route clockwise and it was up hill most of the way. Took about 2 hours. View at top was blocked by summer foliage. Nice day out in the woods.

The blue trail is my favorite at Oak Mountain. No bikers whizzing by makes this a beautiful, peaceful hike. I will do it again!
