Amazing views. Prepare to get your feet wet. I wouldn't attempt climbing out of hamblin arch unless there is a rope. Thankfully there was two.... but still with a rope, it wasn't easy. I couldn't fathom doing it without one.

I got plastered by artificial snow makers trying to find the trailhead by the Brighton Ski resort, but once found it was a great hike! It was fairly quick, even with the snowfall on the ground. I loved skipping rocks on the frozen lake and hearing those cool Star Wars noises.

this may sound weird but I need a tiny bit of sand from coyote gulch for a gift. would anyone be willing to ship some to me if I send a prepaid UPS label? this is the location I plan to be married at and the sand is part of a gift I want to make. I only need one grain for the gift so only a small amount is needed. I don't know where else to ask.

Are you in shape? Let’s find out! Total workout! Down hill in fall sucks due to all the toe grabbers covered with leaves and steep trail . Bring a sack lunch and water.

Did this trail yesterday, it hard to follow the trail with the recent snowfall and quite slippery due to icy areas, but worth the challenge and inspiration for capturing both visually and mentally the solitude of this area. Simply beautiful.

Great hike, really beautiful. 3-6 inches of snow and lightly snowing all day. Well worth the uphill climb.

Short but falls were hidden so couldn’t view.

This is a really tough hike in the snow. We went on Sunday 10/28 and from about mile 3 onwards it was all in snow. We'd tried on Thursday and had only got as far as the meadow as the winds were so strong we couldn't even see our own tracks and couldn't find the trail. We managed to summit on Sunday but from the saddle to the hut and back again was very windy and very sketchy. If you've never done this before (which I hadn't), it's definitely not for the faint-hearted. Once over the saddle, the drops are very very steep and, I thought, very very scary. The views, however, are spectacular and the trail was pretty easy to follow. The whole thing took us 10 hours as it was slow going in the snow, so we came out in the dark. Be prepared and stay safe!

****ATTENTION****

As of October 30 Cecret Lake Trail is closed. In fact, the only road to the trail is closed for construction.

Beautiful trail. Definitely would recommend poles, snow and ice for a solid mile. Would rate this overall as moderate if not for the snow. Only a steep incline for about a mile. Almost made it to upper lake, but snow got a bit too deep without poles. Will be heading back to do again - awesome trail!

Great trial, especially in the winter. I'm 50+ and it is hard though.

Very nice views the only problem is all the cow dung everywhere but well worth the hike

We hiked this over Labor day weekend. The views and wildlife we saw were totally worth the hard hike. It was amazing!

Hiking up to Cecret Lake from Albion Basin during the Summer is the best time to go and is definitely worth the adventure! There are wildflowers all the way along the trail up to the lake. It is about 5 miles out and back trail. You could do a loop too on a service road back to the main trail head, if you go West from the lake (it is a little steep). Make sure you bring a light windbreaker (it can be chilly near the lake), also bring at least 1.5 liters of water and a snack or lunch with you to enjoy near the lake. It is a popular hiking trail, so the traffic on the trail may be moderate/busy, the best time to go is on a weekday or early morning.
However, right now they are doing some construction for Alta Ski Resort, which is difficult to hike the trail this Fall Season 2018.

Well established trail, fantastic views of Little Cottonwood, the trail gets pretty steep on the approach to Red Pine. If your feeling adventurous continue past the lake up to a few lakes higher in the valley and get an amazing view of Pfiefferhorn. Went in late September, it got pretty cold and windy higher up. If you do go to the upper lakes, some of them might be dry, but Upper Pine is a worthy sight, one of the most beautiful Wasatch Lakes in my opinion.

Nice hike and surprised to find it completely snow covered in late October. The snow made it even more fun, and the trail was still easy to follow.

Great easy walk around the lake.

Hiked up Dry Canyon to Big Baldy Saturday 13 Oct, beautiful day for hiking, started at 10am finished at 1:30pm. Last mile to saddle between Big Baldy and Timp is straight uphill, a heart pounder. Got our feet soaking wet coming down from the snow melt stream in the middle of the trail. Busy trail passed more than 8 groups.

So I did this hike today (OCT 14th) with my wife. It was snowing when we pulled up to the lot but we decided to trek on anyway. The views were beautiful. We saw a total of 6 deer (although two of them may have been the same ones just several hours apart). We also saw a moose. The going got tough towards the top because the last mile or so is about .6 mile elevation. Investing in some spikes for the shoes is probably a great idea. Some gaiters are probably not a bad idea but hiking poles definitely help to probe the snow. The lake was frozen and it was gorgeous. I forgot my sunglasses so when the sun came out the snow kinda hurt my eyes! Some hikers that were there before us said the route up to Pfeiferhorn was too tough because the snow was too deep. Overall great trail. Easy to follow.

Hiked this on Thursday. Great quick hike after work around sunset.

This was my first time on the trail. As of yesterday, it will take breaking trail for the final two miles to get to the summit. I wasn't willing to go further than the tracks went. There was a wind slab just before "the meadow" that I wasn't willing to cross, as well as some other evidence of snow instability along the way. I wanted to write this review to let people know that this trail is probably a ski/mountaineering adventure and not a hike at this point (probably from about mile 4) until next season. In addition, I was glad I had microspikes on my shoes after the first mile. It was intermittent ice/snow and mud for a couple miles and then straight snow after that.

Climbed it this last Saturday, 10/6. It was a little chilly with some light snow falling. It gets pretty rigorous and steep at some points. It was actually more scenic than I expected. The reason why I give it 4 stars is because the trail slopes inward at certain parts so on the way down it wreaks havock on the knees and ankles because with every step your legs want to fall inward. I enjoyed the hike overall, but will probably never do it again because of the rough, uneven trail.

Moderate climb to get to Lake Mary, but well worth it. We did this about 3 weeks ago when the colors were turning and it was absolutely breathtaking. If you have the time, hike around to the backside of the lake which is less crowded - you can keep going on <0.5 miles more and you will hit the second lake. Beautiful hike, though tends to be popular and a little overcrowded at peak times.

Great overnight backpack. Shorted the day by going cross country back to the trailhead

This is one of my all time favorites! Definitely a two-nighter to enjoy it! Very busy on the weekends! Start the summit very early, thunder and lightning storms come from out of nowhere in the afternoon!

love this hike ALOT.

This isn’t too bad. Only hard for about a mile. If you do this hike though, you might as well go one more mile to pfeiferhorn in my opinion though. :)

Its snow time and its kind of moderate..Half of the trail covered with light snow, cold at the lake. Moose sightings and fall leaves make this trail awesome!!
