11/26/18 - Great hike with great friends. Love the history within the hike at Echo Mountain and the views at Inspiration Point were spectacular! We went on a Monday and had the summit all to ourselves!

Great views! It's also worth branching off to summit Mt. Lowe at the top.

Great hike! Steep and exhausting, but the views at the top was amazing! I went in mid November and there was no snow yet.

Decent. Hit the trailhead 7am, 12/31/18. Few hiker on the way in. ~50*F. The historical points were worthwhile, somewhat strenuous. Lots of traffic on the way down. Total time w/20min. snack, about 4hrs. Lots of gravel slippage on the trail. Have shoes that grip (preferably a hard toe). Views of Pasadena, downtown LA, across the basin were spectacular.

Great walk with the dogs. Went in December. So little snow.

I feel inclined to say this hike lived up to the 4.7 star rating. Trail Master Roscoe is very critical of hikes and the mornings here can get crowded with very ambitious mountain bikers on some trails. I always practice trail etiquette to the 10th degree, but exercise caution around some blind trail turns.
The views were definitely “inspirational” all the way out to Catalina this morning. Pease note that Apple Watches are not always accurate with distance per mile times, and expect some margin of error in canyons or areas with little to no service.

Amazing hike. Get all types of different elements. Shade. Sun. Running water. Forest. Temperature drops. It felt like east coast fall at certain spots.

My dog and I did the 9 mile RT in just over 3 hours.

Amazing views at inspiration point. Very cool concept with the pipes.

One of my favorite hikes to do. Portions of it are a little steep but offers some beautiful views along the way. Takes a few hours to complete so make sure to be out there a while.

This was a great trail had a ton of fun and spent out 6 hours out there.
Don’t take the paved road up like the app suggests, there’s a blazed trailer off to the side and it’s really nice. The round trip was definitely longer than 9.8mile

Clearly marked trail next to the lake! Most part of the trail was paved, and there’s a nearby trail that’s accessible to wheelchairs too.

The ideal introduction to hiking trails in Tahoe. Spectacular views begin almost immediately. Granite Lake, about half way up, is charmingly picturesque, and there are more stunning views nearing the saddle. You can stop and go back at any point and have a pleasant hike. You can do it in 3 hours but why not take longer and enjoy it.

Make sure you recognize the elevation gain!! It’s almost straight up the whole way! Bring good shoes and lots of water. The view is absolutely worth it and the way back is easy.

Great easy short hike. Great views at the end from Lovers Leap looking down at the town of Strawberry, north towards horse tail falls, and all the peaks and forests in the surrounding area. We parked across highway 50 from Camp Sacramento. Good hike for kids, our 4yr old made it up and back on his own without any issues.

Great hike, lots of elevation gain. It took us and a dog about 3 hours there and back. Be aware that out and back is almost 6 miles to top of the peak. The view was incredible and worth it!

great trail, definitely will come back to run..

Wow!! What a gem of a hike!! Right in my backyard. Unbelievable!!! So glad I finally took this route.

I hiked on a Sunday morning and there was no parking. It was crazy. Parked about half a mile or more away. Get there early if you don’t want to start your hike on the streets!

The trail was also very crowded. It made me happy to see so many people enjoying the trail so I didn’t mind the congestion. Everyone was very friendly. Lots of doggies, too!

The hike is moderate the whole way up the fire road and switch backs but once you break into the Castle trail, it gets tougher. The last mile or so was a real butt kicker and very rocky. Had to carry my little chihuahua up some of the sections.

I could easily see why it is called Inspiration Point! Stunning view of Los Angeles and beyond. Lots of people were eating lunch at the tables, in a very clean and nice shaded area. You should definitely pack a meal and enjoy the views!

Pack lots of water, wear a hat and sunscreen. There is some shade but the majority is in direct sun.

Hard at times due to continued climbing up, but it’s worth every step because of the amazing views at the very top.

A difficult hike that is worth the steep climb. As other reviews indicate, the trailhead is not marked...there's a small parking area next to the USFS gate. Follow the water tank access road to begin the hike and follow the trail up. Wear high ankle boots as the climb can be loose at times. You will come to a large meadow/ridge line that will take you toward the peak. Look for a cairn to lead you to the final ascent to Rifle. Spectacular views of Tahoe from the top

This hike is amazing! Highly recommend! Dog friendly. Lake along the way for pups to swim and cool off.

My cousin and I went on this trail a couple of months back. We drove our car maybe a mile when we realized that there was no trailhead(Only reason for not giving it 5 stars. Need more markers). The climb was steep so I'd definitely rate it hard but the views were beautiful. It took us about 4.5 hours to complete the hike stops and all.

Flat, easy trail. spent time playing on open beach, trail pretty well marked. lots of trees, mainly shaded which was cold on day like today. kids and dog never complained. I'd do it again!

Beautiful hike and views. Did an amazing sunrise hike and the whole way up to the peak we got beautiful views of the sun coming over the mountains with the lake in front. Little steep at times but definitely a consistent incline. Top has a well worth it view.

A very tough climb up to the top but well worth it. Bring a lunch or some snacks and hang out on the peak with the nice view!

If you are looking for a long walk through the trees, culminating with a view up top, then this is for you. We did not see any other hikers but we did run into a few mountain bikers.

my pup and i did this hike, definitely not easy but so worth the views at the top. no trail head but reviews before helped in getting there. the one thing i missed was at the top before the peak, theres stacked rocks on your right side that shows the trail to the peak. i missed it and had to back track. was to busy admiring the views i had. the hike for sure gives you a work out, but can't say enough how worth it for the view.

Great hike about 4 hours total. There is no trailhead. You hike along a water tank access road and pick up the trail from there. There are some steep inclines with loose ground so wear shoes with grip. Bring plenty of water. About a third of the way up, there is a beautiful ridge/meadow ride that to the peak.

*pretty unpopulated trail in october- YEY!
*last bit of trail is a road that takes you up to the fire lookout station at the top. Views up there are wonderful!
*bring all the water you'll need- there isnt any on the trail.
*gorgeous views in the last mile and a half!

It’s a very beautiful hike with lots of lake views. We stopped by at Granite Lake for lunch and since it was end of fall, it wasn’t very crowded. The trail is well maintained. The views at various vistas are spectacular. I’d rate it between moderate and difficult.
