Fun trail. I went clockwise and got lost pretty early on and agree that signage could improve a little. I cant wait to go back. I enjoyed the diverse ecosystems that you get to experience throughout the run.

Great hike

This is a legit 10 mile loop, I absolutely love it. Minus one star only because there are some parts where you can inadvertently go off trail because of some rogue trails blazed by lost folks thinking they were still on the correct trail. Some signage at these junctions would solve this problem.

Great trail for day hike or overnight backpacking trip.

made the trip in just over 3 days. Was my first longer distance trail. The North end is well marked and maintained, lots of great views. on the North end there are more bluffs but it's not terribly difficult. After you pass Golden pond heading south the trail gets rough fast. It's not very well marked and the horse traffic had it tore up fairly bad. Also watch for unmarked horse trails...I got turned on to one and got lost for a while. The shelters along the way are primitive but a welcome sight every night. Overall it was a great trail and I would definitely do it again.

It’s a pretty easy trail. I like to do it clockwise and hit the ore pit trail at the end. Good overnight for beginners. Really like seeing all the creeks, lakes, beaver dams and such.

Very fun trail, very secluded for the majority of the trail. Not well maintained however so you have to go off trail sometimes, not a trail for beginners.

Would love to do this trail from start to finish or possibly in two sections. Would anyone be interesting informing a group and going?

Did CANE TRAIL 1.3 mile hike beside LAKE TRAIL behind lodge. Add lake trail 1.8 extra miles moderately difficult combined trails equals really good workout. Moderately steep ascent 2 or 3 times Nice forest hike!!

easy walk. can cover it in 2-3 days. mostly forrest trails with good overlooks of lake. very little traffic. few shelters there are primitive. Southern 1/4 of trail is usually chewed up from horse traffic. overall enjoyable.

Great day hike. Nothing too challenging.

Trail has been chewed up by horses in some areas and several spider webs (in late summer) indicate how little this trail is used. Good for an overnighter.

Did the trail a few weeks ago it's very well maintained and marked. Had a great time with lots of great views!

Great place for hiking, definitely get a stick to take down the spiderwebs. Also, wear plenty of bug spray, especially around your ankles. We stopped to fish a few times and got covered in Seed Ticks. Nothing 10 days of antibiotics can’t solve.

Me and my girlfriend are trying to plan a 4 day 3 over night possible trip and I would like to get about 20 to 30 miles with Garden of the Gods included. Does anyone have a good trail to go with?

Did this trail the day after it rained and it rained while we were on it. extremely muddy with large sections tore up by horses. With only a few short steep inclines I didn't find the trail practically challenging. Some parts aren't well marked and are hard to distinguish had to double back a couple of times. There are some large rock formations that make for good photo ops but for the most part the scenery is sub par.

I completed the entire trail over two trips (3 days total) which was slightly ambitious of me. The southern third was quick and easy hiking as it was mostly flat. The northern half was more hilly but not terribly difficult. There are not a lot of good places to camp unless it’s an area where you cross a campground that is road accessible. Unfortunately, the trail is not kept up in a lot of areas. There are a few questionable bridges and quite a bit of bush-wacking that occurred. I thankfully had this app or there were a few places I am sure I would have gotten lost. I also wish there were more views. If it had been more “wet” I feel like there would have been more stream crossings instead of dry creek-beds. There are no hill-too views either, but some decent lake views in the northern section.

This is the area’s premier mountain biking trail. It is not super technical but the climbs are challenging on the Kentucky side. The Barkley side is a good warm-up I recommend riding it counterclockwise starting at the north welcome station. This trail is fast and many of the people that ride it are out there to go as fast as possible. If you’re into that, this is the place to do it. A great ride is combining this with the north-south trail. I believe you can get in a tad over 40 miles for80 if you want to do an out and back.

Loved it! Great trail! The sign says 10.5 miles I ended up doing 14.3.

not what I expected

Great hike. I will definitely do this trail again. However, it is confusing at the beginning. But once your in about 1/2 mile it’s very easy to follow the trail.

Trails were not maintained very well. It would have been super easy to get loat, trails are marked by blue dots on trees.

Love this trail. Although there are places that are somewhat overgrown and full of chiggers, the trail overall it's great. Not to difficult in my opinion, but had some good parts that were challenging. Have been twice in the last 3 weeks.

Amazing park! Well kept trails, family friendly. I must see place :)

Not a lot of elevation. Really nice around Mile 5 and 6. Spiders. EVERYWHERE. Glad I did it once, but definitely a one and done experience.

Such a pretty trail to display the park. We had fun, but I highly recommend picking up a stick as you begin to swipe away the spider webs. They run across the trail and are hard to see sometimes. Not so bad if you aren’t the first one hiking thru for the day, but just a suggestion. This hike will take up a good part of your day. We walked and stopped a few times and clocked about 5 hours.

Love this loop for trail running, but the spider webs get a little outrageous, especially when starting early. Last time I went running (arrived at 7am), I ran through at least 50 large webs that kind of hindered the experience, but I'll definitely be back in the future (probably when it's colder, though).

Bear Waller Gap Trail is one of my favorites. It is a challenging trail in places. I usually do a full length both ways. I suggest starting at Defeated creek entrance if you plan on a round trip. if you only want to do one way or are a beginner, I would suggest starting at the overlook and having a ride to return you to your vehicle.

Me and my friends had a lot of fun hiking this trail! I highly recommend going off the beaten path when you see the opportunity for a good view. However, be very vigilant in keeping an eye on the trail markers, it will take sharp turns and leave you lost if you aren’t careful. I wouldn’t recommend taking young children on this trail because parts of it are difficult and very steep.
