First time hiking this trail and it did not disappoint. The first leg is a nice pace and we saw a bear not too far off the trail which was really cool to watch. Cooled off in the water up top and along the way which was very refreshing. Certainly recommend this trail

This was my first time to Grand Teton and I wasn't sure which trail to hike. I was originally looking for a moderate to hard trail but ended up on the Jenny Lake Trail...and LOVED it. You get to see some amazing scenery and the trail is fun at all times.

I'm not really sure how the original Trail got recorded on to All Trails but I logged 15.25 miles on that same route to go up to the upper Palisades lake so I think the trail details need to be updated. Aside from that it was a great Trail beautiful views little bit longer than I had hoped but I would do it again.

TRAIL REPORT- Elk Meadows via Gipson Jack Creek
Location: Gibson Jack Trail Head, Pocatello, Idaho
Date: August 2, 2018. Had a nice cool breeze most of the day.
Riders: Pat Kent, Jodie Mills, Milton Emery, Bob Deeter
Propose: Pleasure Ride
Trail: Easy to moderate. 12.9 miles round trip with a 4.4 mile loop at the top. Three rocky places getting to the winter warming hut. Next time I will look for another trail without the rocks, by going to the left instead going right at the start of the loop.
A big thank you to DON ROSS who was cutting brush ALL day yesterday on this trail. God bless him and all the trails he rides.

This was a beautiful hike. We came from 8000 feet in CO, so the lower altitude made it even easier. We hiked to the lake where my husband caught (and released) 30+ fish in an hour, then we hiked back. It started to rain and lightening mid afternoon, so keep an eye on the weather as there are some very exposed sections of the trail. This would also be a great trail running trail.

I've been mountain biking a few times on this trail. It is super fun and when you get to falls, it can be fun to follow the trail down to the actual waterfall (but be careful!). the trails are super bumpy and washed out. but all in all a really great experience! :)

This loop is beautiful! Sections of the trail provide shade but also amazing views of the lake and peaks. I started at the visitor center and went right (when facing the lake). I used this to get a 5 mile trail run in before meeting friends at the Cascade Canyon Trail close to the boat dock. The section of this trail was fairly easy with only small elevation changes. I highly recommend heading up the Cascade Canyon Trail as the views are great and we saw some wildlife.

This hiking trail was a really fun one. It does provide a bit of a challenge, but it makes up for it. I only have four stars because there were so many people. It really slowed down our hike because we had to keep stepping off trail for others to get through. There also seems to be an issue with the fellow hikers not following rules by not keeping their dogs leashed (as it says right at the beginning to keep them leashed). This caused a lot of issues with the dogs running past us and almost knocking us over.

Fantastic trail to get in some miles without overdoing it. Scenic views all around.

As an even more scenic alternative I would recommend starting at the Jenny Lake visitor’s center and heading north (facing the lake, go right). About 4 miles in on the west side of the lake take the cascade canyon trail. 6 mile out & back with great views and a lot of wildlife (saw black bears and a big bull moose). You can opt to take the boat back across the lake instead of running the rest of the way around if you aren’t looking for a ~20 miler.

Beautiful views. Lots of different scenery. Accessible.
Make sure you're in good shape - can be a challenge.

The first part of trail is moderate and second part is easy. The views throughout are as good as it gets. Encountered a brown bear on the trail halfway around eating berries and ignored us. Best hike!

This is an easy 8 mile loop hike. Please be aware that the trail to Hidden Fall and Inspiration Point are closed due to Rock Fall concerns. They are currently evaluating the potential danger. No timing for reopening.

This hike was amazing! It was not hard, and it was fun, with a breathtaking view the entire time!

did this with string lake for a great morning hike last week - start early. part of trail was closed due to rockfall so did not see hidden falls but scenary made up for it! was a zoo by the time we left at 1pm but had time for a quick dip of the feet in the lake (great after 18km) before getting out of the chaos! long but very easy - nothing technical and no major climbs so just a really nice morning hike.

Nice hike along Big Elk Creek. We took our dog and he was able to cool off in the stream along the way. My GPS measured 6.3 miles to the creek crossing and trail split to Siddoway Fork and Neeley Cove. Stream was still moving swiftly so we didn't attempt to cross. The trail also appears to cross the Big Elk Creek at about mile 5+, but there is an optional trail up along the cliffs on the north side of the creek. It is a good trail, although a little rocky. Didn't see any animals, but there are plenty of wild flowers. Still, watch out for thistles!

This is a great hike with beautiful scenery and plenty of covverage to keep you out of the sun for most of the trail. There are plenty of spots to camp between Lower and Upper Palisades with a few between Upper Palisades Lake and Waterfall Canyon.

NOT WORTH IT
The trail starts on a dirt road and once you are going down the mountain there are 5 or 6 smaller trails that finger off. At the destination it’s really small and disappointing I would never do This hike again

This was a moderate hike with great views of he Grand Tetons. Great for a family or couple hiking. Multiple trail runners on this hike. Start early to avoid the heat.

Only go to do about 4 miles of the trail since the rest was closed off. Very easy with some good views of the mountains and lake.

Other than being confused most of the time about which direction to go, this is a pretty nice hike. This site says it's mostly a mountain biking trail but I didn't see any. The trail is mostly an ATV road and has a lot of forks. That being said we ran into A LOT of ATVs. There were even some kids who had driven down to the dam and were shooting guns in the direction of the hiking trail.. we had to yell and scream to make ourselves known. If that wouldn't have happened I would have given it 5 stars because this is a fun area to explore.

So beautiful! We took a couple of detours to see waterfalls. Lovely walk around the lake.

Beautiful! We hiked all the way around the lake and then included this quick little detour. So glad we did!

Did the trail on the 7th of July so it was pretty busy but still quite enjoyable. Our group did the entire loop in just under 5 hours including stops. We chose to get the climb done first so we headed clockwise around the lake from the Visitors Center. Wish I had bought swimwear to take a dip after we finished.

Great hike!... fire wood is scarce for overnight trips.

We had a great time, walked there and got ferry back as kids were fading from heat at that point. Falls are beautiful.

Trail to Lower lake is pretty easy. Lower lake to upper lake more difficult but worth the climb. I’m 58 and first time hike. My sons and I did it and I was exhausted at the end but the hike is so worth it!!! Beautiful mountain scenery and even saw 2 moose.

Fun little trail with a lot of friendly people. Well worth the time spent with the family in a really beautiful place.

Great day hike. Not too hard. Recommend starting the hike early in the day.
