Started at St Georges, took me 1h30 to get to summit. Did the loop- highly recommend it!frozen lakes up there. Beautiful views. Went down and up grouse mountain, took Gondola down. Then Badden powel trail back to car. Total time 3:30.

Completed on November 12th. Followed Vancouver Trails description and didn't get lost. It may be confusing while on the trail, but if you bring notes, there is no confusion or bushwacking needed! Out and back in 4 hours- 2 hours up, 1/2 hour break and 1.5 hours down. Once we got off the Old Mountain Hwy and on to Peer Gynt, we stayed the course till the lookout, did not do a loop. GREAT views on this clear day all the way to Garibali & Mamquam.

Wow... probably one of the most beautiful hike that I have ever done in my life... without my friend’s truck I would never be able to get there. Want to buy a 4x4 just so I can come back to here one day.

Great trail nice scenery and a awesome water fall. love this place

I went yesterday (18/Nov/11). I ran into snow about 3k before the main parking area so had to park and begin our hike there. This was my second time hiking Cheam and first time in the snow. I didn't expect as much snow as we encountered. Snow was very soft and the trails of course were self made. I summited without poles, crampons or snow shoes - so it's possible, but not recommended!

We tried! But turned around as it was pretty icy. Made the safety call. Unfortunately another lad did not and did in her ankle and needed rescue.. So proper shoes and ice gear highly recommended now. We went to Dog instead, but it had some icy parts as well. Beautiful day, but be safe!

great hike, lots of rocks....with snow and ice everywhere, as we found today, poles were very handy. great views.

Careful, as the other reviews state, this trail is poorly marked. It's easy to end up on another trail or veering into the bush. Use your common sense and trail map for this one. Getting back is equally as confusing so it might be an idea to take the ski slope back - something we wish we had done in hindsight, but only due to sundown approaching as we ended the trail. Despite some issues, the trail itself is great. Lots of scrambling and a little easy climbing. Amazing views at the summit and some wonderful views as you approach the final quarter.

no fee for parking. bring water, no good place to fill your bottle at parking lot. take ski run , not trail for first 2km

The length of the trail is stated inaccurately, which screwed up my trip planning. It’s 16km round trip just from the turnoff point on the main trail. The total length is probably closer to about 22km round trip (rough guess)

missed a turn to ridge trail and ended up doing the goat mountain instead. but I loved it. you can take for CAD 15 the gondola down. A must do option. Can someone edit hike description to mention this there

We made it up in our Ford Escape but I wouldn’t recommend going up without a decent truck. The hike on the other hand I would definitely recommend, stunning views and pretty easy going the whole way.

Yes, it is a beautiful hike but there is a reason north shore search and rescue get a LOT of calls. The last 1.9km is not a hike but rather is mkre like a rock climb. Fun going up but nit so fun or safe coming down.

The hike up to Lindeman Lake is worth every second. The lake is stunning!

Spectacular views on a clear day. Good family hike that will tire the kids.

this hike has been on my bucket list for a while and finally did it! it is everything that people say in their reviews. is challenging but totally doable. we took just over 3 hours to get to the top and took the gondola down. the trail is the best marked trail we've been on in a long time.

Fantastic views at top. Some technical and vertical parts, so definitely for a more seasoned hiker. Make sure you time your return during daylight, especially this time of year when the sunsets early. Hike is 4 to 5 hours depending on your ability. This is NOT including a snack/rest at the top so factor that in. Great mountain!

Did this today. It’s a moderately hard hike. It took just under 4 hours including stops and going at a moderate pace. Beautiful views. This hike has signage most of the way. You can go around dam mountain and around little goat. Add time if you include these smaller peaks on the way. Chains for the final ascent are helpful it’s closer to 8km from the chalet and back. Not the 6km mentioned. The 13km is if you hike up the grouse grind or bcmc first.

first portion of the trail was a grind - actually called st.georges? Where the loop is supposed to start is a climbing route for bikers.

hiked this twice in two days to figure out the loop, got lost coming down both times, not a well marked trail. Quite often the trails weed out - someone also mentioned a lookout, but got lost trying to find that as well.

Conclusion: not a very simple loop, mostly a grind, lots of Bush whacking.

This was a wonderful hike!!

Rewarding hike. On a clear day, there are great views all along the way.

Fun, challenging path. Many people and dogs on the trail. View from Mt Seymour is beautiful and very windy. Wear layers and shoes with good treads.

September 29 2018. Temperature difference of 10°C between parking and summit. Climbed West Lion - challenging and exposed; there would be real danger to make a summit attempt in wet weather. The hike up the base of the West Lion is straightforward, yet labourous, we even saw someone at the HSCT juction in sandals. Roundtrip distance was closer to 18km, not the suggested 12.4km route. If you summit the West Lion, it's arguably a better 360° view than Golden Ears. 10/10 day, took 8 hours total.

Loved the hike to Lindeman but got tired of the rocks pretty quickly on route to Greendrop. Unfortunately we went on a wet day which made trekking the rocks a slippery and slow process. Will do again but on a dry summer day.

The view is always worth the hike

Tough and beautiful hike with a variety of views. However, this hike is not 12 kilometres roundtrip. It's closer to 18 from the parking lot.

Beautiful lake at the end, expect some stair climbing on rocks instead of stairs. Great hike, loved it.

Such a beautiful and ultimately thrilling trail. Be sure to see the waterfall on the lower trail before you climb up to the trestle.

Amazing hike, beautiful lake
