Very nice day hike, beautiful views!

Beautiful hike! Recommend hiking boots not sneakers. Several areas of crossing water on rocks and sometimes had to step in water to cross. Not dangerous, just wouldn’t think anyone would want wet sneakers. The whole trail has gorgeous views.

Great workout! This trail is very rocky so proper footwear is definitely needed. You will need to climb using your hands in a few sections. Gorgeous views at the top!

Pretty easy hike. Other reviewers are right, lots of cacti over the trail, especially at the end. It’s not that hard to navigate safely through it though. Got a lot busier toward 9-10am as we were exiting. Pretty views of the lake and a few tree overhangs but not much other than that.

beautiful trail. towards the halfway point is a steep downhill portion of the trail that you will need to hike back up. bring water and enjoy the view.

This is an incredibly special trail, though quite difficult in many areas especially for people like me afraid of heights! Particularly when the wind is whipping threatening to tear you off the rock face! Not for the faint of heart. Scenery is spectacular the entire trek. We went counterclockwise and at the bottom the sign reads: difficult, technical skills needed! One of the harder hikes, not moderate. Loved the excitement and beauty. Don’t miss this trail.

Must do if you are in the area! Nice loop trail with great views.

Went hiking with wife, kids, and cousin on our first long distance hike of the season to practice building up distance endurance. Only thing that was really disappointing with this trail is how the desert plants are not kept trimmed back from the trail and it can be tricky (and painful) to maneuver through some areas of the trail. Lots of great wildlife to be found along the way and the view of the lake is worth the trip out here. No horses or rattlesnakes today, but my daughter found a tarantula of decent size which was a pleasant surprise for us.

Great trail!

Super good interval trail. Quick turn around time - under 1.5 hours round trip.

Was a long loop trail but so wonderful. Go counterclockwise at the loop.

Great trail, but a ton of people.

If you can only do one hike, do this one. We took a left at the cow pie/hangover sign post, going counter clockwise around the trail. Bikes have to take the cow pie trail (right at the sign post) to get to hangover trail. I was glad to be heading towards bikers rather than having them come up behind us. The views are amazing. This is a challenging hike...not hard, but definitely on the more difficult side of moderate. It took us about 3.5 hours to do the 8+ miles. We weren’t hustling, but kept a decent pace.

Rocky but worth the climb!

great cardio workout and great views of North Scottsdale and the city.

Loved it! Nice and challenging after making the turn to head back. Very crowded, get there early.

Terrific trail. Next time, would plan on reaching the trail's end between 1-2 when the sun's shining down into the canyon.

This hike is a must in the fall. The change in color of he leaves is stunning.

Showing up around 7am on Sunday, there was an empty / closed parking area with a few empty parking spots to the right of the gate. Returning to the car at around 10ish to reveal a stalled line (presumably waiting for parking spots to open up) that extended to the highway. With that in mind, I would say this trail is a bit overrated. Its a very pleasant canyon walk, but its when its this crowded, I could probably find something similar.

Beautiful fall colors. Not strenuous and the creek crossings were a fun change of pace. When we were there in early November, you could get across by walking/hopping across rocks, so sandals or extra socks weren't necessary.

We arrived around 2 pm on a Friday and waited about 5 mins for a parking spot. Toilets, but no water, at the trailhead.

Favorite hike in Sedona. Awesome variation in ecology and amazing views on Hangover. A lot of the hike in ON the red rocks, which is very cool. Take plenty of water and good, grippy hiking shoes.

You need to be comfortable on smooth (generally not slippery or overly steep) rock faces and narrow trails near drop-offs, but it's not overly technical or arduous. Definitely recommend going counter-clockwise so you're going up the only rock faces that don't have switchbacks.

We arrived around 9 am on a Saturday in early November and were able to park in the lot, although it was definitely filling up.

great views! lots of people, but, friendly. could use more parking.

I made a loop out of it taking trail 200 on the way back. beautiful nature. hardly anyone in the trail. lots of birds, even in the late afternoon. ocotillos were so green

Heavily trafficked trail but so gorgeous. We drove up from Phoenix to see the fall leaves and we weren’t disappointed. Many leaves have already fallen but still worth the opportunity to catch the beautiful colorful leaves. The majority of the trail was shaded and ran along oak creek where you crossed at least 10 times. Water level was very low and even got chilly during the day. Fun trail for all ages and skill levels. We arrived on Saturday around 11am and there was a line up of cars waiting to park. We decided to avoid the wait and park about a mile away from the trailhead off 89A. When we left 3 hours later there was still a steady line of cars waiting to park at the trailhead. **If you park away and walk in there is a $2 fee/person. Would highly recommend and would love to hike it again in the summer months!

Came to this trail by mistake. Ended up being a very good workout. Legs felt like barely cooked spagghetti noodles on the way down.

Relatively easy hike, but beautiful scenery. We arrived at around 8:30 in the morning an there were quite a few people already on the trail. Trail was in most parts easy to follow, but not marked that great, worth the trip, would definitely do it again if we are ever in this neck of the woods again.

One of our favorite hikes! Well maintained trail, nice workout!
