Despite there no longer being a waterfall, the area where it once was is still very pretty. The dried riverbed was at times better to hike along since the trail is not maintained and currently has a lot of poison oak. Also there were lots of signs to watch out for rattlesnakes, though we didn’t see any along the way. Overall no regrets about going just to see those rocks at the end but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go again when there’s so many different trails to choose from in this area.

I'm not a fan of fire road "trails," but at least there was room for my friend and me to walk side by side. This Mineral Wells trail is the closest to the one we actually did. We started at Fern Canyon, then turned west at 5 Points to Vista Viewpoint. We followed the road around Bee Rock, then took a side trail through the Old Zoo and back to the parking lot. No coverage, so it was hot--keep that in mind. I gave five stars, because it was a good workout, nice views and I love Griffith Park. Next time, I'll record.

WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE. Loud, trash littered by the trail, and people playing music from their phones while walking on the trails. If you’re seeking solitude and a dip in the lake to cool off this is not the spot for you. Probably best to go on a very early morning. The location is beautiful, but the cons far outweigh the positive aspects in my opinion. Could probably be a better hike if you go further into nature away from the lake.

Where the trail ends the real fun starts : boulder jumping and climbing, canyoneering....

I'll do this trail again when there's actual water in the creek/waterfall.

I love this trail and as a local I go at least twice a month. In the summer you should definitely start as early as possible because there is little to no shade. It’s a beautiful view of the ocean with lots of wild flowers along the way. As someone hiking alone occasionally you can walk alone but have someone walk by every couple minutes.

We really enjoyed this hike! Not a lot of shade so I’d recommend going on a cool day. Tracking on Strava it said 6.9miles and 2,028ft elevation gain.

Beautiful trail with lots of great places to stop and admire nature! I would rate it a "medium" instead of "easy" since it's mostly uphill/downhill. We will definitely be hiking here again!

Great views of ocean and canyons. Wide paths for hikers and bikes. Trip out is mostly uphill and return trip mostly downhill. No parking at trailhead, need to park on residential street leading to trailhead which can be very limited at times.

This is one of my go-to weekend hikes. It gains a lot of elevation quickly, but that means some pretty stellar ocean views and isn't too long. Watch out for poison oak and wear sun protective gear.

The view was wonderful! Loved being in the canyon and seeing yuccas & other wild flowers. The trails are quite narrow with a lot of overgrowth. There were long branch like reeds, that I call slappers, to combat on the trail. So watch out for those, ticks & spiderwebs(especially in the morning).

If you’re willing to go off trail a little bit, it’s the most fun spot in Malibu

My group hiked this on 6/14. We began the trail from a turnout on a the highway instead of the circle x ranch entrance. We began around 12:30am and we made it to the grotto around 2:00am, the hike back was pretty fast. We made it back to our cars around 3:30am. This route added 1mile each way to the trail. SkyHighHikingGroup. We get together and hike at night. For all the busy bodys and late night owls. We are based in Los Angeles. Great hike, good workout. There was water in the grotto, hike was easy but the return did make most of us break a sweat. Recommend.

Great hike with awesome views!

Arrived at 8am. Easy trail with ok scenery but WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE for my liking. There were literally tours groups of 15+ on the trail. Impossible to have your own space and enjoy nature.

Great loop! Beautiful views and easy walkway (semi paved). Both the Rock Pool and Century Lake are well worth seeing!

very narrow path overgrown with tall wildflowers. not a great experience for people who are allergic to bees or just don't appreciate darting through a mile or two of bees in the path. sad face - did think it had a nice view I did not stop to see - wish the path were wider and cleared.

Great hike. But it didn’t feel like an easy one. There’s lots of climbing towards the end to get to the grotto

Love this hike! Greta views and a nice amount of incline to wake your body up. It’s one of my go too. I prefer going early when it’s quieter and just locals and a few early risers but it’s a great hike regardless.

Parking can be tough but I just think of it as another part of the hike.

good walk with the kids

This is a nice hike of moderate difficulty but be aware that on the weekends its almost impossible to find parking unless you come very early. I have had to leave before due to no parking! Otherwise it has pretty pacific coast views, it links up with the los liones canyon hike as well, which is longer and a bit less trafficked

This was a nice moderate hike. The trail path is easy to follow and the views are great. It's somewhat of a standard Santa Monica Mountains/Pacific Palisades trail. The more I go to these different trails the more that I realize that many of them connect and for me the journey a lot of times is just seeing where the path takes me. The views are essentially the same but from higher vistas and deeper into the mountains you see things that give each their own character. I've been to Los Liones trail and relatively speaking this is a little easier. Apparently they connect at some point.

It's a gradual climb, but can be moderately difficult at the beginning. There isn't any shade so be prepared if you go on a sunny day. You'll see a lot of lizards and there are signs that warn of rattlesnakes. This trail is not pet friendly and I wouldn't take a young child too far because of the initial climb and lack of shade. I can say that on this particular day there was a decent amount people on the path. I imagine it being busier when the sun is out and the sky is clear.

I ended up taking this to the Parker Mesa Overlook and it was highlight of the trek up. Whether it's Temescal, Los Liones or any trail within the Santa Monica Mountains/Will Rogers Park area you'll be greeted with some great views. The journey, scenery and curiosity alway propels me up to see something special. The remainder of the hike to that point was relatively easy but also started to seem redundant because you didn't know when it would end but once I got there it was worth it.

This is a nice hike with some beautiful views and I can't wait to get back on a clearer day.

great hike with great views.

Took the stairs up to the garden and continued up the mountain. Bit foggy morning but still great views.

You can stay on the main path, or veer off for little challenges. Great spot

The parking is 8$ but you can also find parking on the side street. it’s safer if you park your car inside. Amazing view! The hike is easy but you get a good workout. I definitely recommend this hike if you want a great ocean view

Great family hike!
