To Do Map

Nice trail. Lots of stairs in the beginning but after the stairs it’s not too bad. We’re not in the best shape but we’re able to handle it just fine but it was tough. Saw a variety of people (kids, elders, runners) so it’s really not that hard of a trail.

Views at the top were very nice as were views of the falls on the way up. We went on a day it was a little rainy and it was a little slippery (wet rocks and wet leaves) but very doable even if the weather isn’t ideal.

It’s an out and back and my Fitbit clocked in just over 4 miles for the whole thing so I don’t think the distance is accurate on here.

Bring $3 for parking and ladies bring toilet paper if you plan on using the restrooms at the parking lot.

Good hike moderate difficulty. Cold morning. Icicles at falls. Beautiful!

There had been lots of rain and the falls were fantastic. Glad we had our hiking poles for stability on the wet rocks and leaves.

Beautiful hike but we couldn’t make it to the falls as the trail was washed away and required cliff scaling. With 3 young kids and a dog it was impossible. Hope it gets fixed!

Loved this hike. Lots of water over the falls due to the recent rain. This is a great hike if you want to do an overnight in the back country. There is some flat ground near where the Doyles Stream and James Stream meet. If you like to fish...bring your fly rod and license. This is a harvest stream over 9". I saw several trout in the deep pools that were close to the 9" mark.

It’s tough but the view is worth it!

Great, quick hike!!

Hiked this trail this past July. It was a well maintained trail and a good workout! It gets you sweating and feeling good. It is steep but nothing crazy. Pack snacks and bring plenty of water to enjoy the view at the top!

This is a beautiful hike. Most of the trail is along streams and the waterfalls are awesome! If you do the whole loop I wouldn’t recommend small children. Also, wear hiking boots or waterproof boots. The whole loop is an all day hike.

The downsides are that some sections of the trail are basically a fire road. The top is so amazing though; it’s really worth the so-so scenery beforehand. Camping at the top just before the rock is great fun too. The you can get a view of the sunset when the crowds have died down.

This is a great “developed hike”. The trail is maintained , with wooden lookouts over the falls to keep visitors safe. Great trail for kids if they will listen and stay where instructed. The lower portion is accessible and when it isn’t too wet wheelchairs can even get access. Hmm. Go during an off season and avoid the crowds. We’ve done it while it was snowing lightly and were nearly alone.

Great short hike with a great view from the top. took the grandkids ages 4 and 5. They did just fine. we did the loop and loved the short trip on the AT.

Great hike with an amazing view!! Tough start, but totally worth it. So much fun climbing the rock to get to the end!

It was a nice hike, but short as the river was kinda high. We watched a some guys go across and it was Knee deep. Best part was seeing a bear on the way back. It was up on the ridge, just nosing around. It may have wanted to go to the river, which is stocked with trout, but there were enough people about to change his mind. Be warned- it’s pretty popular and parking is pretty limited. Also, there aren’t any porta-johns there, so plan ahead. We can’t wait to try it again!

Does anyone know if the Fish Hatchery Route is open or if you can hike up the private road?

A lovely hike along the wilderness boundary. The trail traverses a couple of lovely mature cove hardwood forest stands before starting up hill to the Pinacle ridge. There was a lot of blown down brush obscuring the trail but it s simple to get to the top. Lovely view of the Priest and several ridges. Be warned, although the trail is an old forest road, it is not blazed and can be lost.

Fun hike, view of the falls is ok

Very nice hike. The falls are beautiful. I love how the trail brings you back to the falls at several different levels.

I met the love of my life on this trail, so I’m biased;)

Overall an easy trail, probably rated moderate for the water crossings (lots of places you just need to wade through, but since the trail terrain itself is fairly flat path you can just wear chacos in the summer.)
Most fun I’ve ever had on a simple out and back, multiple water crossings and swimming holes, fairly impressive waterfall with sufficient rainfall at the end, GREAT swimming hole too. Even if you’re wearing all your clothes, just jump in. You’ll fall in love.

Good workout! Pretty steep uphill at parts. Our dog was worn out. Great views of the waterfall, and an amazing view of the mountains at the top made it worth it!

Beautiful views! Keep going until you hit the 2nd overlook. Every bit of great as the first and just a bit further than the map lists (probably another tenth or so of a mile past what is listed on the map). Our dog also did very well with it despite not quite being much of a hiker himself.

The summit was a bit crowded at the top, but understandably so for a beautiful Saturday in October :) The hike was not overly strenuous for an absolutely gorgeous view.

Did my second ever solo hike here. It was fantastic. The waterfall were gorgeous. I ended up connecting to Doyle’s trail and then to the AT to get me back to the Jones Run parking lot. I had a map which was super helpful. In total it was about a 7 mile loop and took me about 3.5 hours- didn’t take that many stops though. Overall- a beautiful hike- definitely will do it again.

very nice trail, my fiancee and I never got wet, always managed to find rocks to cross the stream. I remember the trail was not always clearly indicated but we managed to get to the falls, very nice view, would do it again!

Good short hike. As noted by another review, it’s marked as “Frazier Discovery Trail”. Easy hike with good views. Trail isn’t very rocky so easy walking for the pup as well.

It was a good bike first 2 miles difficult. You get spectacular views along the way. After 2 miles levels out to a trail intersection where we turned back. Nice hike

The falls are spectacular now. Lots of water.

Amazing trail, my fiancé and my favorite one we have done to date.

Beautiful variation in scenery and amazing river.

Have to scramble at some places but are rewarded for it.

Excellent and higher end of moderate for those hiking with kids.

Parking near trailhead is tricky. Don’t park on gravel road next to gate/chain. Park about 159 yards before there in area at side of the road. Access to trail requires crossing a stream - over a fallen tree.
