Did this hike with some friends and my two dogs. A very challenging hike, pushed my limits. The weather was cold and windy at the summit. I'll do this hike again.

Terrific challenge really pushed myself starting at 6:25, made the summit 7:55am
Breathtakingly views!

Fantastic walk. Good path. Stellar views.

Do It People One Of The Best Hiking Trails

Fun, but hard! Don’t under estimate. From the peak you can see from the Mojave to the pacific. We could also see Catalina island, and even past Catalina island - to San Clemente island. STUNNING!

Amazing!!!

Excellent hiking day

Nice trip overall

Did this hike last Thanksgiving. It is one if so many breathtaking walks along the west coast. Look/listen for sea lions on the rocks below. Amazing patterns in the rock etched by wind and water. Fascinating history.

Fantastic trail. Went from H1 to Cone Peak Summit in a day. It was about 12 miles all uphill. Make sure to get water at the first camp because the spring on the San Antonio trail is dry and very overgrown as of October 13, 2018. Great views all the way. I camped on the Firewatch station with my one person ten, the station helped reduced the amount of wind. Don't sleep without a tent, years of people leaving their food/ trash up there has caused a rat problem at night. Other then that I cant wait to go back.

We did this hike in mid-August along with our friend who was prepping for her trek on the JMT. The hike is well maintained, mostly shaded, and meanders up the mountain with a series of switchbacks. I prefer switchbacks to a straight stair-climb up a slope, so I appreciated the winding nature.
Only annoying part is the peak- little shade and LOTS of fitness group meetups that had music blasting and were having push-up competitions on the summit monument. Oh, and the drone guy. Not everyone wants to hear your whirring drone and be in your videos. Enjoy nature, please, and let the others around you enjoy it too!

Overall: nice and slow pace with lots of shade! No water and only pit toilets so bring plenty to drink.

Great view from the top. This trail was a good challenge!

It’s very awesome when you reach the top

Strenuous up hill. So many switchbacks I wanted to quit. 4 hours in we made it to the top! Most satisfying hike I’ve ever done though! The view makes it all worth it!

This is a trail I wish the made even steeper just to save a mile or two it’s just what seems to be an endless amount of switchbacks

it was a great challenge

A nice easy trail with amazing views!

Did this trail with a friend. It is definitely a workout. The switch backs make it possible. Bring water and snacks you will need them to refuel. Trail is well shaded. Excellent views ftom the peak. Will definitely do it again.

I will admit I consider myself to be a regular hiker, but this trail tested my limits, best advice would be keep your momentum, last weekend was my first time taking this trail, I did not expect it to be that challenging. However, the view is unrivaled. I set out at 5:55 am, took a few short breaks as well as a 10-15 min stop to watch the sunrise, made it to the summit at 7:50. enjoyed the view for about an hour and was back at my car by about 10:30. 10/10 would recommend!

A great hike with the last 1/2 mile being very tough

Great trails for all ages!

This hike is rated hard for the right reasons.
Its a challenging Hike, you will walk up many miles, they are many switchbacks, and will test your hiking skills. The good news is, once you make it to the top, its all Worth it. Here are my recommendations. Take 3 litters of water. take a few snacks, and go on your own paste. There is lots of shade which makes the hike much pleasant and beautiful. I took a hiking stick and it helped allot. This trail is perfect to train your body, mind for mt baldy or other challenging hikes around the San Gabriel or San Bernardino mountains.

Gorgeous hike. It was a bit chilly at the parking lot starting out but as soon as we began climbing the trail it got warmer. There’s also a good amount of shade until you get near the top. It was pretty chilly up top, had to put all the layers back on. The wooden sign is missing but the flag and monument is still there. We began the hike at 630 and made it back a little before noon. It was starting to get pretty warm when we got back to the lot.

Wow, no kidding that this hike was tough! It was a bit hard to navigate at times (we used two different maps), but overall it was a great workout. During the 9 miles we only saw about 6 people, so it was pretty private. The trails are very well kept. We had a lovely picnic at the top with the lunches we had packed!

Great views of the Central coast, but limited parking at the North end trail head.

Most underrated area in all of California! You won't be disappointed!

Breathtaking views and stroller friendly trails. There are volunteers along the trail with microscopes to show off the otters, sea lions and whales.

Exceeded all expectations
