To-Do Map

This trail comes to life if you hike just after a rain. The oak creek babbles it’s way to the San Diego River watershed. It’s quite a joy to see the small waterfalls in action.

This is a convenient and beautiful trail. I went with my dog and it was great for both of us. It wasn’t crowded, which made it even more peaceful. Mostly flat, with lovely views. I spied rabbits, lizards and birds. Great for a quick, comfortable hour of hiking!

Parking lot was closed probably due to washout

Very nice hike enjoyed the water pools didn’t get to see any waterfalls but well worth the hike.

The new bottom half trail is much easier to follow and it really helps preserve the habitat on the bottom part of the falls. The new trail takes you directly to the second of the 3 falls. There is plenty of water running from the top of the falls. The weather was perfect for this great hike.

Easy access. Paved

I took the Eagle Peak Trail with my 11 yr old son this weekend. Great hike, views on the peak were more than worth the hike out. planning on falls trail after coming rains. Well worth the drive out.

A good hike but crowded

Unas vistas hermosas el sendero súper bien. Agua corriendo de las cascadas ,solo si es recomendable llevar zapatos de montaña.
El camino para llegar mucha curva pero vale la pena súper recomendable el lugar.
Fuimos el 1/10/2019

way to crowded! trail is ugly

Hike was great but the road getting there was nerve-wracking! One lane, blind turns on steep cliffs with no guard rails, gravel roads for the last couple miles, through water. Wasn't sure we were going the right way but google maps worked. Bring a four wheel if you have one and get ready for white knuckles on the Russian Roulette road but maybe I"m the only one who felt that way. So glad we made it back. Hike had amazing scenic views!

Beautiful place and easy, flat trail

Love this hike. It's definitely a workout with a constant uphill path to the top, but the views are worth it. It's not too long either. The only negative is that it can get a bit crowded.

Bring lots of water. In summer, go early before it gets too hot.

Went here Sunday 1/6/2019 for the first time. Pretty easy getting to the falls and a bit winded coming back due to incline. Not hard though. It was so gorgeous and zero people until coming back. Waterfalls were running, I'm curious to see them during Springtime. I was able to see where the other trail was and it definitely would have made for a more difficult trek, this 'new' path was nice. Great views and lovely weather once the sun came out.
One thing that I must add that was a bummer was the amount of trash at the trailhead. There's plenty of trashcans but the wind probably blows it out or animals rummaging. Cans could probably use lids.

road biking

It’s an ok location for road biking however there are some sharp turns and the amount of people walking impedes bike travel making it hard to get a good workout in. Go on a weekday and be careful of the amount of potholes on the road.

I just did this hike. it's much easier on the new trail. I jogged part if the way down and it only took 28 mins. the way back up took me about 38 mins. the falls were flowing pretty good.
Note - you no longer have to buy the Cleveland forest adventure pass to go to this hike.

Good hike for beginners.

Winter/spring is definitely the time to check this one off your list. Beautiful hike, falls were running, not many people out, perfect weather. You are completely exposed during the whole hike, so make sure you are prepared.

We did see a rescue helicopter fly through the canyon, but it didn’t stop here :).

Nice hike. Go in the spring when the falls are running

Done and fun! Great socal hike. Desert mountains overlooking the ocean. Good climb too.

Used to hike with my mother best times of my life

Awesome trail. Very Pretty. Lots of nature . HARD . It gives you cramps in your legs. VERY HARD at the end before you got up at the top. But LOVED it !!!!!

Finished this trail today - start at Golfcrest road, at the start of the Cowles mountain trail, and then came down along the Cowles service road. Would rate the upward hike as easy-mod. Great views along the way up. The summit is worth spending some time at. Pictures may be better when it is sunnier, today it was quite cloudy so good hiking conditions, not the best photo opp. The service road trail is for biking as well. Wider, less uneven, but a little slippery going down. My knees felt the pressure towards the end of having to avoid slips. Once we got down, we walked along the paved road back to our car parked at Golfcrest, took about 20 mins for that. Overall, 2 hours of solid hiking, definitely worth a hike. Recommend going early and using 4 sets of eyes to look for parking spots!

Excellent hike! Highly recommend hiking boots and gloves!

Took our kids (7 and 9) down the trail to the beach. Recommend wearing good shoes vs tennis shoes. Was a fun experience and really cool rock features.

very cool for a San diego waterfall when they are running good

This trail is known in the area to be a fun social trail to do with family and friends. On a very clear day you can see the full San Diego Coast line. I find my wife and I usually can move up the trail quickly and then carefully run down. There is a backside trail that is similar with less foot traffic (note it is not the truck trail). This is a popular trail so you have to slow down. If you are looking for a hard core work out and some solidarity then go away from the city.

Nice walk with great overviews.

Nice trail with beautiful sweeping views of the pacific!

Short not challenging
