This is a hike located just below 29 Palms on the east side of the park. Its short and easy with an natural arch at the end.

We did this hike leaving into the Lost Palm Oasis trail because the road to lost palm trail head is washed out. I'm glad we did this anyway, the trail is great. However, it does add about 2 miles to the Lost Palm Oasis out and back hike for a total of 10 miles.

I give this a 5 even though it was rather difficult to navigate this past weekend. We ended up getting a bit lost because the areas that were flooded ended up looking like they could be part of the trail. However, such is nature and we still got to experience the beautiful landscape. We started from the Cottonwood Springs campground so we used that as our landmark as we navigated back.

This is not a hike more of an attraction. Great spot for an Instagram picture. Just try not to fall into a cactus while taking your selfie (saw 3 unhappy people picking thorns out of their legs after doing this!)

You hike to a campground - better trails in the park for sure

Clear signs on where the trail is going, but poor communication about the nature of the trail - it's a 1.7 mile loop that includes a 0.5 mile section on the road to a campground. Very confusing. If you turn back at road as we did, then it's just a there and back for a total of 1 mile from Skull Rock. Nice informational signs about vegetation along the way, and plenty of cool rock formations along the way, but also very close to road.

Cool rock!

Not exactly a hike but and can be very crowded, but excellent views from all different angles of the canyon and some opportunities to climb out onto some rock formations and look down! Very easy trail, and rewarding

It’s a nice cactus garden with great views of the valley. Stay on the trail, these cacti seem to jump when you are even slightly close to to them. They hurt like hell it get them off!!

Very easy hike and nice rock formation. Tip: take picture from left bottom side of rock for best perspective

Simple, quiet walk in the desert sun and a lot of different cacti.

The view from Mastedon Peak is terrific, although you have to be comfortable with a little boulder scrambling to achieve the absolute top.

As of October 2018 the portion of Mastedon Loop which coincides with the Lost Palms Oasis Trail is closed due to minor flood damage. There is no signage to indicate this if you start the Loop at the campground and go clockwise. Don’t know why, with all those rangers hanging out at the visitor center none thought to inform the hikers.

An easy walk with stunning views the whole way! We walked from the visitors center to Canyon Village, then also walked another mile or so between two of the lookout points on the Red Line, which was much quieter and had even better views. This is a great trail with lots of interesting geology and history along the way.

Easy. Lots of sand. Nice view at the top n

Easy. Easy. Easy.

This is a very enjoyable trail and easy to trek. But there is not enough directions on where it starts and ends. You just have to guess at what you’re doing.

Don’t forget to breathe! ;)

Breathtaking.

We did this trail as a night hike and it was pretty awesome. May want to bring gloves as there is a ton of bouldering to be had.

Easy paved trail. it can be pretty crowded so I recommend getting there early before all the tour busses arrive. great views of the canyon.

Wonderful, but we did not finish it.

Unbelievably beautiful!! Worth the trek to the top

This “Easy” rating is misleading. It is easy and relatively level ground from Indian Gardens, but you have to hike down into Indian Gardens first, and then back out, of course. From the Bright Angel Trailhead the hike round trip is around 12 or so miles out and back. The hike back up to the rim is still a pretty good butt kicker, super fun but I would class as Moderate at best, definitely not Easy.

Very easy and level trail for all ages and levels. You start the trail at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. You get some gorgeous views and photos. My husband and I did this in 5 hours, but we stopped frequently for pictures, restroom breaks and lunch. Wear sunscreen and bring a few bottles of water as the sun is strong and it gets very hot. Highly recommend!

Definitely a walk, not a hike. It’s very cool to see cactus all around, and we didn’t have a big problem with bees (which can be plentiful). The container for nature guide books was full of trash though — seems like it hadn’t been seen to by the time we got there (9am). Worth a stop if you are driving to or from Cottonwood!

Overall straight forward hike. Easy enough path to follow with elevation increases fairly often in a short distance. Great views 90% of the hike. A great intro to the Canyon.

I will be back to go down into the canyon! My sister and I completed a road trip from PA to CA and we stopped here on the way and completed the rim trail! It was amazing! I remember walking up to the edge of the canyon and my hands were shaking it was so mind blowing. I remember thinking ti myself how could something like this exist? It’s a bigger than you moment and super humbling. Absolutely subliminal in every way. Everyone needs to see the Grand Canyon as God intended.

Easy hike around the south rim. We did ten miles on the rim hike. Some paved trail and some unpaved. Beautiful views and outlooks around the rim. If you do it all it can be tiring.
Jump on and off a shuttle if you want.

Amazing! This place is spectacular! We hiked and climbed and explored!!
