Looking up from the parking lot was intimidating, my wife and I joked about doing the winery instead. We are 60+ hikers and don’t give up easily, so up we went, and made it to the top. Apple watch says 5.06 miles, 1542 feet elevation, 3 hours and 19 seconds, including lunch and photo stops. This was a cool November hike, so no wildflowers or leaf colors, but the views were spectacular, well worth the effort.

Beautiful scenery! Trail was fine first part.. last mile was difficult, BUT worth it when you reached the top. Loved it.

Beautiful Rhododendron covered tunnel trail most of the way. Great views of the fall foliage off of the side trails and at the top. Met a few adventurous climbers rappelling over the beautiful rock face who were more than happy to show us how its done. Today the road was in great shape for our little Kia Soul to travel on.

As others have mentioned this trail is not accurately described. The GPS track that looks like it is part of the trail is actually a dirt road that leads down to a small parking area that then leads out to the suspension bridge. This is also definitely not 9 miles, however we still had a nice walk with our dog in the areas that were less crowded and felt comfortable taking her off leash and exploring some of the other roads in the national Forest.

Moderate climb first half outbound. Much of it thru a tunnel of rhododendrons. Multiple balds to the right for a beautiful view. Only down side is the 3 mile unpaved trip to the trailhead (also beautiful) and the traffic on the trail. This trail is no secret - still worth it!

This is a great trail to hike for beautiful long range views! There are many rock outcroppings along the way. It was rocky and rooty in some places. My girls are experienced hikers, but we were unprepared for this trail. (We didn’t bring enough snacks to keep them happy and energized). LOL! But the views made it all worth wild!

Fun hike! Steady incline.

Views that’ll make you smack yo mama. Tough hike but totally worth the sweat. Get a pic on the rock up top. You’ll know the one.

Great views. Easy trail

Always have enjoyed this hike. Preachers Rock has wonderful views, and because of that can be crowded. Don’t let it scare you though, it’s worth it.

Love everything about this place. The trails are marked well and the water falls were full of water due to recent rain. We were able to find trails for our level of ability.

Easy hike for a Florida guy! Great views as everyone has stated!

Nice trail. Not all the trail is hard, but there are definitely parts that are a challenge. Met and talked to several really nice people along the trail. Took our fur baby and she did great. So by e to have a challenging trail she can hike with us. Several camp sites along the way with wood already there. We will take the kids next time.

Beautiful, decently maintained trail with some wonderful views. However, I can say the exact same thing about all the hundreds of other trails in the immediate area that don't charge you $10.

Why pay these people $10? They have nothing particularly special to offer.

Really nice section of the AT. Hike up to Preachers is nice, view at the top is great! I went past Preachers and down to the Dockery lake trail. Out and back about 6 miles. Don’t miss the other overlook past Preachers.

Fabulous trails, stunning lake and falls!

Starting out with a big parking lot with restrooms was so nice! Easy hike up. Gradual incline all the way to the top. We got there at 9:00 am and it was a little cloudy from all the rain the day before. Shocked at the people we saw on the trail. Coming down, we probably passed 50 people heading up. Great place to camp and hike.

Easy hike with great views.

Absolutely stunning views. Lots of places to camp on different elevations of the mountain. It’s marked perfectly, and the pay off at the top is so worth the hike.

Did this with the Big Canoe Hiking Club. Lots of fun. Great hike. Took the traditional route. Recommend this hike for the tremendous views. Good memories here for me...was on this mountain 41 years ago as a student in the US Army Ranger School (Class 10-77).

Very difficult to get to, but worth it. After you turn left on Blackhawk Rd, you’ll come to the first creek you have to drive through. I was able to get through this one in my Toyota Camry. Then, keep left until the second creek. I decided that one was too deep for my car, so I parked before it and walked through it and the third creek at the beginning of the trailhead. It doesn’t add much to the hike to do it this way. Most of the hike was pretty level but not very well marked - so it’s easy to take a wrong turn. Once you get to where the incline starts, just follow the creek all the way up: Very steep - like hands and knees steep at times. The waterfall is actually very tall, but mostly covered by foliage. So pictures don’t do it justice. Thanks to the couple whose driveway I got lost in trying to find this and gave me directions.

Great views!! Difficult trail, recommend hiking poles. Rocks are slippery coming down. Few places knee high rocks to climb. Few narrow trail spaces too. As many have wandered around to get pictures lot of side tails have developed. Stay on course. I would suggest they add more trail markers towards the end close to the overlooks.

The hike was great. We arrived around 9:00 a.m. Not too many people there until we hiked back. The view was spectacular! Would do it again

A bit of a tough hike but worth it! Amazing view from the top! It was uphill and had some steep parts. Took my German Shepherd with me.
