Easy hike, tons of places to take the kids to play in the water. Awesome waterfall. Definitely a must see!

Amazing, had such a good time

Firstly: to get to the trail you have to drive about 15 miles on lose gravel. If you have a small car, you will want to go slow unless you don't care to spend money on issues that could be avoided because it is rough. If you have a car that is high off the ground and has the appropriate tires, then you may not have to go as slow but just be careful. Otherwise, this trail is moderate with some strenuous uphill sections, but the distance makes it doable because it is not very long. Trail is well kept, easy to follow. I did not have any issues with bugs or mosquitos at all. I mean there were just a few of them but it wasn't like there were herds of flies following me, although at the tower I did spray some just a few times. This trail is BEAUTIFUUUUUL. The lakes are gorgeous and it is so worth the effort and the drive!! It is like a hidden gem.

We did this hike on July 29th. This is an easy hike that our 3 year old can easily walk himself. Even though it’s a short hike, I still recommend bringing water. A great place to pack a picnic.

Totally too easy of a “hike” but very beautiful with the river and falls!

Beautiful hike. Well maintained "manicured" pathway that's friendly to visitors of all abilities including kids on strollers. Trail ends near the caves and many will go off the trail to get close at their own risk.

Easy

Great views of lake Mowich as well as Lake Eunice on the way up to the fire lookout.

view was socked in but it was beautiful on the way up. trail was well kept.

Neat, short trail. Decent little hike. Very public-friendly. Prone to crowds. Amazing views. Was very rainy before the holiday this year, but still well-worth the hike. LOTS of dogs

Went on Saturday 8/4 and it was busy! If you do a weekend get an early start or you’ll be parking way down the hill. Went from Mowich to Eunice to the lookout.

Holy shit, bring big spray. Bust out that DEET! We brought some hippie natural organic stuff and it did not work whatsoever. These mosquitos were of a different breed! Great trail, took my 60 year old Mom and she took her time and had a great day. Picnic at the top and hope Mt. Rainier is visible! Great hike, but bring that bug spray!

Stunning!! My guy and I had such a great time with this one. Lovely forested beginning which leads up to Eunice Lake. Took a dip in the blue green water and swam with the salamanders. Then up to the top to the Lookout. Wildflowers were starting to pop! The views...jaw dropping. And, we had it all to ourselves! BE WARNED: Bring bug spray, and not a natural one (which is what I wanted to bring). The bugs mean business up there!!!

One of my best so far. Beautiful scene. And if you want to see salamanders, go look inside the lake, you will see many of them. There are sooo many mosquitos, flies and bees. Bring bug spray unless prepare yourself to be eaten alive!

One of my favorite hikes by far! Hiked 8/5/18, got to the trailhead around 9:30 am for prime side of the road parking. Bring bug spray because those buggers are RELENTLESS!! But the views at the top at magnificent. Second time doing this hike and besides the road to drive to get here I have nothing but praise for this magnificent trail. It’s a pretty hard steep hike but totally worth it at the top. Make sure you get up on the fire lookout and see Rainier in all its glory. Day was beautiful and we spent about an hour at the top just taking into the view.

2 stars because of the hype, the parking situation and the crowds. I thought this would be much more beautiful than advertised. It's basically an urban flat trail through the woods with a smallish waterfall at the end. Parking is insane! So many people. We kept going to Denny Creek for a longer hike. It's probably a nice small hike for families with little kids, but watch out for them going off trail (this is easy to do) and getting into the poison ivy or the devil's club.

Great trail with views and waterfalls to spare, and decent canopy for much of the trail to Rachel Lake. With a 40-lb packs, I found this on the tough side of moderate, even after a lot of hiking and conditioning this year on Mailbox, Rainier, etc. This trail reminded me of Little Si, just 3x as long. Stairstepping most of the way lots of rocks, roots and water crossings, and lots of vertical, with a few flattish wooded sections. Mosquitoes were bad: but Jungle Juice and netted hats kept them at bay. Was it worth it? You bet. Gorgeous views, and only 3 other tents at Lila.

Great easy hike! My 6 year old had no trouble going there and back and even we spent time "exploring" the edges of the ice caves for a few hours before heading back. No T-mobile cell service shortly after getting onto mountain loop highway. Our only complaint today were the aggressive flies near the end of trail near the ice caves.

The views from the trail were gorgeous the river is stunning! Super busy but it didn’t take from the stunning view and experience down at the base of the falls. We took wagon road trail back and didn’t see a single soul; the forest hike was wonderful!!

Lovely evening walk 30 mins. in and 30 mins. out, the trail is so easy you could push your grandma in a wheel chair, well almost. Saw 3 people do it in flip flops. Berries available for snacking. Cave made it's own fog and it was visible at 8pm, very cool to see. Waterfalls are full and many. Lot's of downed trees in avalanche zone from a windstorm years back. LOVE this walk and nice picnic tables with a mountain view near first parking lot. Go late and avoid the crowds and enjoy the bird calls.

Swimming is perfect! Huckleberries, thimble berries and salmon berries snack bar is open. Twin Flowers line the trail and Alpine Meadow Groundsel fringes the lake (could someone please confirm identity)
Malo potholes, "if they drive straight they must be drunk", saying from Costa Rica applies.

Did a day hike with my dog up to Lila now that it’s all snow free. It was on Tuesday and extremely hot. I made two trips prior to Rachel and one to rampart lakes. There is a lot less water in creeks and the falls with all the snow melted. The lake was perfect temperature to swim but the horse flies and mosquitos were so awful they had both my dog and I running down the mountain as soon as we could. (I had three different types of bug spray and they still had little effect on them so be warned before going up there this time of year.) Fantastic views the whole way up and a few very alert marmots right before the boulder field to Lila lake which was really cool. Please pack out your trash. I picked up a cigarette butt and some food wrappers on the way out near the trail head.

destination wasnt worth the hard hike.
it was nice but ive seen better.
lake edge had a lot of pond scum so dont expect to swim.
very pretty meadows and view...

glad i did it but wouldn't do it again

This was a BEAUTIFUL hike up to the caves with an even more beautiful finish. It was fairly easy if you’re well and able to hike at a small incline.

The scenery was amazing!!! One of my fave hikes!! We went for a swim in Eunice Lake, and the water temp was perfect!! Downside? Sooooooo many mosquitos!!!! We had bug spray with DEET and still got eaten alive!!!

Bugs spray is a must, great hike though with amazing views. You might want to consider what you drive to get to the trail head parking. 20 plus miles of rough gravel road in a rental car was rough

Great little hike hard on your vehicle's wonderful swim at the lake much warmer than I thought it would be!

super easy hike with beautiful falls at the end, great on a hot day with kids.
