This was such a fun hike! My friends and I are definitely not experienced but we were all physically capable of this hike. It was a bit more challenging than we had expected but we were still able to hike up and down in around 3-3 1/2 hours. Mirror lake was fun to stop and take some photos. We had beautiful weather. The views were spectacular! Will suggest and do this hike again!

Really amazing hike! Lot of razorbacks and some steep points but super amazing and such an awesome view all along the way (especially at the top)!

amazing views! I'm so glad I went, and persevered until the top!

60 mile an hour winds at the ridge made it pretty difficult to go the entire distance but it was absolutely gorgeous with all the fall colors.

Absolutely worth the climb and the sweat to get to the top. Seeing 5 peaks was a lucky experience!!

This was a beautiful hike! As others have stated, my only complaint is that you could see the road most of the time. Everything else was so beautiful that it didn’t really bother me. I definitely recommend going during the beginning of fall because it’s so beautiful when the leaves are starting to change and fog is dwelling around the trees. The waterfall was much bigger than I expected. Not very trafficked - even for a Saturday. We hung out at the waterfall for a good 30-45 min before people arrived.

good hike and views that are worth the climb.

Did this in the afternoon. There was a slight chance of rain but thankfully it held up. Sun shined down which made for some really nice picture opportunities with the fall colors. Even saw a big boar black bear over by Ed's trail from the summit, may want to carry bear spray just in case! If you want to catch the fall colors I'd get up there as soon as possible. Overall, it was a great trip only 2-4 other people that I saw on the trail.

view is definitely worth it!

Without a doubt one of the most breathtaking hikes I've ever done. The views from the top are absolutely incredible. Completed it with my wife and our friend yesterday morning, and Fall is in full swing. Gorgeous colors all around. Strenuous going up, and slightly harder (for me anyways) going down because of all the rocks. Slow and steady and it was fine.

This hike is worth is every time (no matter the weather). It's a breathtaking view. I would highly suggest to loop around Mirror Lake then going up to Tom, Dick and Harry.

If you want a view of Mount Hood, definitely check the weather. I've been here four times and twice it was cloudy, but still worth the hike and the view.

**Get there before 8 if you want to park right at the trailhead. Also, you will need a NW Forest Pass (if you don't have the pass you will need to buy a $5 day pass, which you can't do at the trailhead so plan ahead). You will also need to park at the Mirror Lake Trailhead**

Ok, let me start by saying this hike is hard but totally worth it. Absolutely amazing 360 degree views of 5 Cascade peaks. The views from the top make up for the steep, rocky, uneven trail you have to navigate to get there. Pick a clear sunny day, and I would take trekking poles and sturdy shoes for sure. If you have any balance, ankle or knee issues, this is not the trail for you. Also wanted to mention that according to the all trails map, there is a section of trail that goes around the east side of Pyramid Rock and connects back to the main trail. We tried to take this on our way back down to make a lollipop loop but the trail very quickly vanished into the brush. We bushwhacked for a while to see if the trail cleared out again but it disappeared and we had to backtrack. We didn’t investigate the trail from the south junction, only the north, but it’s definitely not a viable trail option. Keep this one as an out and back. :)

Simply breathtaking at the top. The leaves are just starting to change, and it was pure loveliness all of the way up. Highly recommend.

Great hike, could easily see MSH, Rainer, Adams, Hood and Jefferson on this bluebird day.

Such an amazing reward at the top of this steep and super rocky trail. It is incredibly uneven and can be slow going at spots but gorgeous and worth it.

Moderate hike for sure. It is uphill most of the way except for the area around Mirror Lake and part of the hike after the large hairpin turn on the mountain. There are some parts that get a little rocky, but still very manageable & not treacherous. Views are simply amazing. Parking is right on route 26, and there are only about 20-25 spots so get there early or expect to wait for a spot. I did this hike in 3.5 hours round trip with about 45 min in breaks along the way.

Challenging, quiet and beautiful! Our Apple Watch showed 8.8 miles when we finished.

I would rate this hike as easy, since the ascent can be done very fast. The views, nature, and different landscapes are truly special and diverse. I would recommend this trail to anyone who's looking to have a hike that is fewer than three hours, but sets the stage for what Pacific Northwest hikes can be. The parking is interesting, since it is literally right off of the freeway. Make sure to buy passes for the National Forest System online or at the Ranger's station in ZigZag before parking, since there is no place to purchase tickets here. Finally, there are a tremendous array of better hikes in the area, but this is good for those looking for something easier.

I’d love to come back and do this hike on a clear day :) couldn’t see any views of Hood, but I’m sure it would’ve been stunning... a pretty easy hike no high elevation gain or steep inclines. It was nice

This falls is well worth the hike!

Did a backpacking assessment test this Saturday. Was a great hike to the top. Got an early start and no one else on the way up. still a few clouds on top, was clearing up. Had to head back down, and met (5) other hikers headed up. Did pretty good with a pack on for the conditioning assessment...was a blast and glad to see my vehicle when I got back down. A real nice workout for an old goat.

It was easier than I expected, but I absolutely loved the hike! I'd love to come back and do it again. The view of Mt. Hood was breathtaking.

A really good all day hike if you like a challenge.

Whether hiking or running, I strongly recommend doing this loop clockwise (in reverse according to AllTrails). The first mile is extremely steep - approximately 1,500 feet of gain, much of it on very rocky terrain. While it is less physically taxing to descend this terrain it isn’t necessarily much easier to go down because of the technicality. It’s mostly non-runnable both up and down. After that, however, the 2nd mile is much easier and the third is totally runnable. You then get a nice easy 4 miles downhill to the parking lot. The last half mile is next to the river so you can cool off after a good effort on a hot day. The views aren’t awesome except during that first (or last) mile and at the peak of Elk’s but it’s a very peaceful and serene hike/run.

This is one of my favorite hikes ever. Go up to the summit to watch the sunset and you will never be disappionted!! It's beautiful at all times of day however. My family likes to camp by the lake so we don't have to hike all the way down the the parking lot in the dark.

Amazing views and mostly smooth trail with some moderate hills up and down. I only met two people on the whole thing. Not very busy, which was nice because the trail is pretty narrow.

Nice hike... the view from the top is amazing

Spoiler alert: not so much a mountain like you might traditionally expect it to be: more like a large pile of rocks encircled by gorgeous trees wrapped in fog, especially if you get to the top in the AM. Visibility at the end can depend on this fog as well. If nothing else this is a nice challenge to add into your Mirror Lake Trail since you can access this trailhead from that loop around the lake. I highly recommend giving it a shot while you’re there for a nice workout and some scrambling at the very end to get that heart rate up!

Totally worth it! The view at the top is breathtaking.

The hike was amazing and especially the top of mountain view is awesome. You can see all mountains around. Road to trailhead some places is too difficult for passenger cars. Better if you drive SUV.
