Great hike to take my dog on.

I loved this trail. beautiful. Inclines made it a workout.

This is a beautiful hike. Follow the app and preloaded map, and you'll be fine. I had to stick to the wider path a couple times because the original line of this track is overgrown or covered by water. This is going to be a regular spot for sure. Veer a little off path towards the sounds of Rapids when you reach the back of the high school against the river for a great view. Fantastic.

The trail down at the river is closed due to a rock slide. We started at Norma Hamlin park (free parking) and hiked to the trail using the one above the bluffs. At the fork go left up the hill, along the top of the bluffs and down to Negro bar. Bathrooms and water are avalible. It's a little over 4 miles loop.

Wonderful walk and physically very easy to do. What was hard is finding the right paths and trails - the signage lacks! However, using this app which I just downloaded this morning-made it workable

The GPS navigation kept me going down the right pathways. Totally would have been lost with consulting it from time to time.

Lots of colors from wildflowers along the trail. The American River was high from recent rains and was running very swiftly down towards Sacramento.

All in all a nice walk in nature - would do this trail again. I would have not have discovered this trail system with this app.

The trail itself is easy and really pretty but the downfall is dealing with all of the mountain bikes. There are places to jump out of the way through most of the trail but space is very limited in a couple of areas.

Loved this trail! So beautiful! Loved feeling out in nature. Easy to get to, lots off side trails, water - so pretty! This moved to our #1 trail for this area. Looking forward to next weekend to go again.

I am not quite sure where the trailhead, but I followed a path to the left of the boat launch and followed the river as far as I could.

Beautiful meadow with lots of butterflies. Rocky here and there. Spiders but only if you went into the brush.

Trail was not marked and hard to follow, but there were many different paths and it wasn't hard to find my way back.

$12 to park, Restroom near the boat launch. Perhaps the ranger had a better map.

Nice spring hike for the butterflies and soft light. Well shaded but mosquitoes near the water and parts that were sunny. I'd probably come back here to get in the water. The trail wasn't amazing, but perfect for a light nature hike away from Sacramento.

Awesome place to get out close to home! Very well maintained trail system!

Awesome!!! Also make sure you have plenty of high quality H2O.

easy, relatively flat hike along the edge of Folsom lake. Beautiful views of the lake. Best time is in the morning while the sun is still east. There are A few beaches along the trail where you can stop and relax and take a swim too.

Hike was pretty chill going clockwise around the trail is pretty chill... it’s more downhill in the start then uphill on the way back!

Waterfall was cool but would have been cooler if you could go in it! Water was also pretty murky so did not jump in! There are two good lookout points along the trail (ones at the waterfall and one is just over the bridge after the waterfall)

Went on a Wednesday around 3:30pm and didn’t need reservations but you may need them on a busier day!

Overall the hike is more of a trail walk... would have given it a 3 Star if there wasn’t a waterfall to see!

Overall 3.5 stars!

Great hike with kids! We started from the boat ramp area - there’s a paved sidewalk headed into the woods which leads to a clearer path at the top of the ramp. A little confusing but makes sense once you get started.

We saw turkey, fish, ducks, lizards, lots of butterflies and turtles - a great and easy place for young and beginning hikers.

Nice scenery

Very easy for the family. We went on a Tuesday during spring break so families were on the trail with a bunch of kids. Perfect for dogs as well. Great spots to hang out and read or just chill. We went after a week of rain so it was very green and a little muddy. When you see “horse assembly” drive up that gravel hill and there is parking right next to the trail head. There isn’t very many signs so it can get a bit confusing.

This trail has been on my list to go for about a year; finally decided to go. Parking was a little different, you have to buy your parking tickets online before going. There's no ticket attendant to sell you tickets to get in but there is a park ranger checking if you bought the ticket.

The trail wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. I had thought the trail would be near water majority of the time but I was wrong. Overall hiking experience was fine, easy, small steep hills and plenty of shades from surrounding trees.

Waterfall is fun to watch as well. Although the waterfall didn't appear to be that big maybe because there was no snow or rain lately.

Attempted fishing as well but no luck. I fished at the two waterfalls in hopes that it was fish and it looks like it had fish but nothing was caught.

Did the full loop and it was a beautiful hike. I love how you can take the side trails that branch off the the main legacy trail. Just beware of all the horse poop!

The best trail for a short and fun weekend walking/hiking

Great hiking trail for families and kids. Exposed to the West so sunny in the winter. Great views over the lake, Avery’s pond is peaceful and calm. Access to the lake is easy. Beaches are nice and there are lots of wildlife (geese, ducks, crane, red head woodpeckers, deers). Will definitely do it again.

The point of doing this 12.9 kilometer is to reach the Zim Zim water fall in Napa. The trail is fine, i crossed the creek 11-12 times as i hiked. the scenery wasnt that impressive i saw pipes many times and to me this ruins the beauty of nature.

The trail branches as you get closer to the waterfall. If you go left, prepare yourself for serious bushwhacking. I got pulled, pushed, scratched, poked, poked in the eye, i scrambled, i climbed, i screamed to no use.

i couldnt find the trail to the waterfall, the bushes, the rising water, and the wobbly rocks stubbornly blocked access to the waterfall.

Fearing that darkness will soon descend and i would be stuck on a boulder with no way back or forwarded, i declared defeat and retreated.

I took the second path leading up the waterfall and managed to see it from above.

Not the same experience but i will be back with some backup.

The drive to the waterfall was not easy, snaking road that can get you dizzy. Closer to the beginning of the trail, the road got really bumpy. Many holes so watch out.

Also if the water level of the creek gets high, it floods the road. Not this year though, very minimal flooding, the road is passable

Parking can be tricky but the walk is lovely with awesome views of the river and nice rock formations. My 8 and 10 year old loved it. Some good geocaching along the trails too.

Overall not a horrible trail, highly traveled, stick to the upper part of the trail because the lower part has been washed out. Very dog friendly, the only thing I would recommend is watch out for the ticks. Pretty scenery, the only real negative thing that I could say is the people on horseback or not very courteous, And like to tie their horses up blocking the trail, not that that would be a problem, but most of them were turning towards us to kick because we had a dog. Something just to be aware of.

Great family place to hike with tons of trails to choose from. We loved seeing all the horseback riders. Great for dogs as well.

I can’t rate this trail yet. Do Not Go on weekends or holidays if you don’t have parking reservations! They don’t sell them there and will turn you away. No where else close enough to park to hike.
