Gorgeous hike all the way!!! Be prepared for unstable footing, lots of rocks but that doesn’t make it hard, just be-careful. Views all the way up it is a very open hike.

At mile 2 pay attention to the sign to turn right to follow the trail to Snow Lake. Once you hit the top You will go down to the lake, it is worth the half mile walk down to the lake.

My husband, dog and I hiked this yesterday (10/14). The weather conditions were perfect at a cool 45°, not a cloud in the sky, and no wind; all of which I find pretty amazing for the middle of October in the Cascades.

We started at 12:05, reached the lookout at 3:00, started descending at 3:30, and reached the vehicle by 6:10.

I loved the different layers of this hike; dense forest, uncovered meadows blanketing the slopes, boulder fields dotting the top, and a challenging scramble to reach your destination.

There were a few pockets of snow and on our descent, the top half of the trail was a muddy mess, otherwise it was very manageable. The few morning hikers we met mentioned seeing a mama bear and her cub in the meadow above the trail but we didn't see them. Also for any fur parents, my 40 lbs. lab mix did not fair well with rock scrambling to the lookout and down.

All in all, I really enjoyed it. The worst part was the brutal 4 mile road to the trail head.

Beautiful fall hike.

What an amazing hike, one of my favorite’s so far in Washington! It’s a calf/quad/booty burner and there’s a considerable scramble to the lookout, but it’s so worth it. The views from the lookout are breathtaking! The only thing I’d say is that the road to the trailhead is rough, covered in potholes. Get there early as the parking lot is small and the road to the trailhead isn’t wide, so it’s tough to park on the road before the trail. A must-do hike!

Very heavily trafficked, and slick in the lake basin, but over all very beautiful. Excellent trail maintenance and no snow yet.

The road is still being worked on, but is open now. Road is pretty rough in areas. The side of the road is soft, there was a car that actually slipped off while we were up there. Large parking lot! Trail is almost all switch backs. We spotted 2 bears, a few pikas, and tons of chipmunks. Once at the top, the temp dropped and it was freezing! Prepare for wind!
Fall colors were amazing!

Not the most strenuous hike out there but unbelievable lake and surrounding mountain views!!! Circled around the lake a few times since it was so stunning

Like it!

Awesome views! Had a great time in the lookout

We did this hike right after climbing Mt Pilchuck. It was a well marked trail, It was around 11am and there was a good amount of people on the trail. It is a very easy trail for beginners. The views of the lake are really pretty and worth stopping by for a short hike. The road to this parking lot was very bumpy, we had a truck so we were alright.

super easy trail with pretty views at the end. Not worth more than 1.9m one way but if you're pressed on time this is good

Recommended by friend who travels to Seattle along with many locals. Great hike, Douglas Firs were awesome and reaching the top was rewarding!

Hard but beautiful view of Seattle from the top

Hiked on Saturday 10/6. About half way up there was snow on the ground. Microspikes were helpful since there was some ice as well. It was a clear day so the view was absolutely breathtaking. If you want to hike this, make sure you do it very soon before the trail gets too snowy! Definitely best to do this on a sunny and clear day. The trail is pretty much up hill the whole way but it isn’t horrible since it’s a shorter trail. Minor scramble at the top. My dogs are normally pretty good scrambling on boulders but this one made them very nervous, especially with the snow.

Beautiful -- this trail is gorgeous. Did this yesterday (10/6) and there was some light snow in the last mile. Slightly slippery and slushy in lots of places.

Great place to go backpacking, plenty of campsites and plenty of trails to hike. Highly recommend climbing Mt. Wright after setting up camp or instead hiking further out to Wildcat lake and camping there.

Did this on 10/2. Absolutely fantastic hike! Not too steep compared to a lot of the other trails in the area. The Snow Lake hike is definitely some of the most “bang for your buck” out here.

Fall colors were lovey, and clouds danced over the water at the lake.

This was a wonderful hike for a beginner hiker like me! The views at the top were gorgeous. Just make sure to bring waterproof shoes.

Wooded hike until the very end where the view opens. Moderate hike if you’re in shape. Great view from the top.

Arrived about 11:00 on Wednesday, October 3. Only one car in the parking area. Road does have big potholes but my Subaru Forester did fine. It’s a flat road and easy to get around most the holes.

Trail is really wet. Not muddy, just running water in a lot of the area. Waterproof shoes are a plus. It’s a good hike, but nothing particularly amazing about it, looks almost exactly like Lake 22.

Nice lake, super clear and clean, no bugs. Still a little patch of snow at the lake, that was a pleasant surprise.

I had done this in some heavy snow a few years back and I found the hike much prettier then.

The trail was in great shape and the weather today was perfect. The views from the top were excellent. I would rate this hike a moderate. (Excluding the Haystack)

Did this hike 9/30, a Sunday. Plenty of parking at 11:30 am. The first couple miles are a gentle incline with pretty fall scenery. The last part to the lake is rock switchbacks that were not hard, just a little slippery from the rain. Parents with babies on their backs and lots of dogs on the trail. I’d rate this hike easy/moderate.

Did this on a Saturday with good weather and it was pretty busy. Rocky trail, but the view of the lake is worth it. We attempted to go to Gem Lake but it’s a quicker elevation gain so we turned around after an additional mile in. However the views at all points after Snow Lake towards Gem Lake are breathtaking. Would hike again.

Rocky trail without any shade for most parts. The lake is beautiful. Bugs weren’t too bad, but there were some. Make sure to get a hat if it’s a sunny day and enjoy the hike!

Very difficult. I meant to do an adjacent trail, but I got the names mixed up and ended up doing this one on accident. Definitely not for beginners, but the view at the top is amazing if you can stick with it.

Beware of the 1 mile stretch of potholes to the trailhead! Otherwise, everything else is nice.
