To-Do Map

Great hike take dirt road (if experienced ) straight up .. Amazing views of San Fernando. Valley and Santa Clarita Valley Along the ridge line . A lot of trails to choose from Especially once you are at the top . .

My second time at North Fortuna. This time I signed the book

love it! been hiking the Griffith park trails since I was a baby.

The saddle trail is super steep and slippery. Great cardio workout and a fun slip and slide on the way down!

this hike is not as tough as I thought but it was foggy so we didn't get a very good view

nice trail, first part along Creek is beautiful, then steady incline for a good workout. The trail is quite overgrown in parts, some bigger fallen trees are blocking the trail here and there. Unfortunately the coastal fog blocked the ocean views, that at a clearer days would have been more rewarding.
the tin house is in my opinion not worth seeing. You will have to hike along Hwy1 for a little to get back to the entrance.
By the way. I have never seen that many ticks in my live, as on the last third of the trail. I had to shake them off my pants every few hundred feet.

Wear hiking boots if you take the saddle trail. It gets slipperaaaaaaay! I like horses.

This isn't a trail -- it is a road. A narrow and windy 2 lane road, with lots of fast cars. I ran it, and it was dangerous; there is no shoulder, and you are at the mercy of the cars giving you a wide enough clearance. It is pretty, but you should drive it. Not safe for foot traffic.

Steep incline, pretty tough hike but definitely worth it. View is amazing from the top and just be careful when coming back down!

Beautiful trail with a waterfall at the end. Have to go across the creek a couple times but there are rocks and logs. Nothing too hard!

Loop is closed. Assuming walk-in campground is part of closure too? I looked all over for it. Took Ray Miller 2.7 mile trail to the fire road. Never found LaJolla walk-in camp.

Mission Trails has so many great trails! If you want a good challenge, begin heading up South Fortuna first. There are some stairs leading to the summit that are sure to make anyone tired! If you would rather not climb the stairs, head to North Fortuna first and then continue over to South. Of course you don't have to do both Summits. If you park at the visitors center, beware that you will have to cross water at the beginning of the hike. I suggest bringing some dry socks to change into. To avoid crossing the water you can start at Old Mission Dam. This is a great trail that can easily be modified to challenge you more or less.

nice hike a lot to see. not mush shade. pack list should have at least 3L of water. have fun pack out what you pack in. animals welcome watch out for snakes

beautiful drive, well worth the time and 10$

This trail was wonderful! May have got turned around, but the view was prettier with each turn. Bring extra water and the power lines can be used as a landmark to keep you on your path!

Fun trail with a lot of creek and rock hopping

I haven’t actually done this trail yet, but I want to bad! I’m fairly new to the area and a little worried about venturing in the “back woods” by myself. The only daylight time I really am available right now are Wednesday and Thursdays. If anyone (or many) are interested in teaming up to run Mission Trails or any other in San Diego area shoot me an email: warfitnessgrp@gmail.com. Hopefully there’s others that have a open schedule on Wednesday and Thursday’s!

Loved this hike!!

Short loop. from the top you can blaze your own trail to the top of the mountain if you like a challenge.

Amazing view! Parking fee is a bit outrageous, but worth the hike once you get to see the Hollywood sign up close. Watch out for horse poop.

Hard and fast !

Great hike with great views, obviously very popular so there are always a lot of people especially on the weekends. Definitely worth trying.

It is a good place to hike, normally we start at 5:30 am, this year january and february are not cold.

we completed this trail in 2017. highly recommend long pants abd hiking poles. lots of rattlesnakes.
