nice hike snow and icey about 3/4 of the way up so be careful..lake is frozen over but the views where spectacular

We did this hike on 3/18/18 and loved it! No snow on the ground. Benches conveniently placed for resting. Most people gave up after the Lower Falls so the higher you go, the less people you see.

Such a beautiful hike! My friend and I love it!

Beautiful hike. We can hear the pleasant sound of water falls all along the hike. You’ll see lower falls, middle falls, and upper falls. We went up to middle falls and Valley overlook. There’s also a bike path all the way to upper falls.

Beautiful Views, trafficked, good season opener.

It’s a nice trail.

It’s been snowing all week and the full hike (from beginning of Denny Creek rd) was just beautiful. The falls were half way frozen and it was great to experience. I went alone so it was nice to see a decent amount of people there.

Went on a Friday afternoon, not very crowded was a short hike to falls. Was a decent hike up the hill after the falls to the junction with the John Wayne trail. Will do more often as we cross the pass.

It was an amazing hike with no snow until the DNR portion of the trail past Upper Falls.

Got to the parking lot around 2:00 pm and found a spot right in the main lot. Weather was gorgeous and the hike was amazing. We hiked all the way to the upper falls. No snow anywhere and not a ton of people since we went later in the afternoon. Hiking beside the river part way was refreshing and all views of the falls were breathtaking! Definitely will be going back.

Beautiful day for a beautiful hike. Mix of dirt, water, slush and snow. Threw on the spikes about a quarter miles from the lake just to get there faster. Lots of people and a tight trail when you have to pull off to let people pass, you’ll go down a snow hole.

Beautiful sunny, warm day for a beautiful hike. Tons of people and dogs. The trip was still gorgeous though. Good season opener.

03/11/18 - Beautiful as always. Lots of snow for a majority of the hike, a mix between slush at the bottom and packed at the top. Poles were helpful and I did not have trouble without microspikes, although there would definitely be benefits to having them.

Bring sunglasses!

Great day for family hike. Busy so we parked on the road outside parking lot. Not muddy and river views were exceptional. A little up and down to get to falls but well worth the effort. Great for kids of all ages!

Beautiful hike! We started at 12:30, and had to park a half mile away from the parking lot (that’s what we get for sleeping in). Unusually warm day for March, so there wasn’t any snow to be seen. Pretty packed trail and there were lots of families and dogs. Beautiful forested views, with sounds from the falls as the day’s ambient noise. Worth the view when you get to the upper falls, but the lower falls view was actually our favorite.

Roads were closed on both sides. Ended up hiking a total of 8 gorgeous miles today. The wagon trail is not open, don't take that as a loop back as one of the signs suggests... you'll end up walking through very deep snow. TAKE ICE CLEATS! The whole main trail is compacted snow and ice. One hiker slid down the hill at the falls today but was able to get back up. The trail right at the water fall is steep and icy, be extremely cautious. GORGEOUS hike though!!!

We did this hike in early February - the falls are amazing! Great viewpoints of the falls and nice walk through the forest

Beautiful views of the falls and valley! Slowly gains elevation at first and gets pretty steep quickly when you get past middle falls. Some snowy patches at the upper falls viewpoint but no traction needed.

Mediocre hike with decent views of the waterfalls. May be better in the summer when you could walk down and enjoy sitting by the river. Not bad if you’re looking for a quick, short hike.

Beautiful waterfalls views.
Some mud, I would wear hiking shoes.
My puppy had a blast.
I would suggest going on a weekday, weekends seem to be packed with lots of people.

Beautiful waterfalls. Great river views. Able to go to water's edge.

Views: Crystal clear river, old trees, two waterfalls.
Difficulty: Easy the inclines are spaced out and there's plenty of flat walking areas.
Trail conditions: Beginning of March- trail was muddy in some spots overall wasn't too bad. The trail didn't have as many people as Rattlesnake or Poo Poo Point.
Overall: This was a beautiful hike! We brought our dog, and he loved it!

Woo! Quite the buttkicker in that much snow!! Heather lake is completely covered and the pup and I had it all to ourselves until a crying baby showed up! Gorgeous day in all well worth the workout to the top.

Nice moderate trail. The access road was a little treacherous and I would not attempt without 4 wheel drive. The hike is manageable with micro spikes, but snowshoes would be best. There is deep powder about half way up the trail with a lot of post holing. The lake area was all covered with snow, but still had pretty views.

Great hike! It was a bit muddy today but that is to be expected this time of year. (February 27th) We didn’t go to the very end but we made it up to the second fall lookout. Little to no snow on the ground. The trail is well maintained with a handful of sections of log stairs. The falls were incredible!

beautiful breath taking view .
don't stop keep going till you get to the lake ,
please be prepared a lot of snow .
be cautious and have fun .

My son and I did this hike two days ago, it was beautiful, snowing and so much fun. We have done this hike in the summer a few years ago. It is a completely different experience in the winter. I really enjoyed it. Trail was easy to follow, you need extra traction in the snow there was some icy areas.
