Fun hike! Get there early if going on the weekend because it gets busy.

Went in the early morning, around 7 am, it was still nice and cool throughout the whole hike. It was pretty rocky but manageable. Had a beautiful view of the valley and was lucky enough to watch a hot air balloon float by!

Sneaky hard trail. Good Stuff!!

Excellent trail, plenty of up and down terrain.. beautiful views, so clearly se to the city

For lots of breaks and someone out of shape, 3 hours round trip. Definitely something I have to do at least once a year. If parking wasn’t so difficult, I would go every weekend! We went around 11:30 on a Thursday and it was crowded.

Great hike with several challenges. Parking fills up so get there early.

Excellent hike and weather today! Highly recommend!!!

I'M EXHAUSTED! An hour trek to the top with water breaks. A complete work out with lots of sweat included, and I still have to go back down to the trailhead. Well worth it.

Hiked this trail with a few friends. Started hike around 8 am to avoid hot sun and to get a parking spot at the base of the mountain. Trail was well travelled with numerous challenging sections. Our first time, it took us about 2 hours. Great views from the top and well worth the climb. Good footwear is a must and three point contact on the way down helped in avoiding jarring of the knees.

Saw a few lizards and a small snake along the trail, cool views and a good hike that’s not too strenuous but a good climb. We recorded 8.3 miles on the loop.

It’s a beautiful hike. I highly recommend hiking the north leg of the loop first. We did that and there were big boulders to climb on as the trail mostly followed a wash in that part. It was a very gradual incline that way as well. When we got to the high point of this loop, we were actually shocked at how much elevation we gained. The remaining part of the loop down was the most scenic and it was beneficial to be facing east the entire way down. The first part on the north side was very much closing you into the canyon and there weren’t a lot of views. The trail is beautiful though and it feels very unspoiled. The only hard part about it was the distance and would be hard because of the heat in the summer.

You get to use your arms too as in a lot of parts it’s a scramble uphill. Good shoes and a treking pole can help. The way down offers a nice, alternative challenge to hiking and scrambling up. Great views to marvel at.

Went after lunch, and it got warm on the West side. My husband and I enjoyed the views from both sides of the peaks and also enjoyed the fact that our heart rate went up. Definitely a moderate trail.

Lots of boulder scrambling, plenty of elevation, and fabulous views from the top. You may want to wear gloves because you'll be reaching over quite a few boulders on your way up. Wear sticky soled shoes and be considerate and tolerant - it's crowded, and some hikers are struggling. You may need to park at a nearby shopping center or hotel lot due to very high traffic on this trail.

Amazing place and a pretty good hike.

This is a good trail! I think the hike has more than one name- at some point there’s a sign that says two bit peaks. It’s a moderate to hard hike that has great views of both Piestewa and Camelback.

Really liked this one. Close to town with a beautiful view of the city. Some tight rocks go thru. In a couple of places it might seem like you lost the trail but sure enough you have to go thru rocks in very tight spaces. It’s not hard, just fun. Not for big people maybe.

I also agree that this hike is not hard!! It was wonderful and enjoyable for my family and my dogs! I suggest wear shoes with grip and follow the dots!

Pretty rocky at the top. Beautiful views.
This trail gets very crowded.

Have to disagree w other user reviews. This trail doesn’t justify the difficult rating. The ascents/descents are short and mild, and footing is good. I took every detour I could find and only logged 5 miles. The trail is generally obvious, and markers & signposts are abundant and clear. All that aside, it’s a fun trail. Very pleasant 2 hr morning walk. Great views of the lake, dam, and dells.

Got smoked on this trail! SUCH a good workout no matter which trail you take. I’ve mixed it up quite a bit and have gotten really warped! Good times. Be sure to bring a snack or two if you plan on staying for the longer hikes. I definitely got hungry and was desperate for energy.

Great workout. Would be 5 stars if not so crowded.

Es una montaña espectacular, todos los fines de semana la subo al lado de mi amigo. Al principio batallábamos mucho, pero después de un tiempo lo encontramos más facil. 100% recomendable.

This was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life! I loved it and would definitely do it again. Glove and GREAT hiking shoes are a MUST! Bring lots of water and take lots of pix!

Very challenging, but worth the climb! Wear good soles shoes, bring lots of water! So glad I did it

Great hike, north side much more challenging

Awesome awesome awesome trail. Absolutely beautiful terrain. Word of warning-about three minutes after you get to fat mans pass you will come to a big block in the trail, just know that you are going to have to squeeze through a pretty tight gap in the boulder and then slide down a big rock to get to the next part of the trail.

I would definitely write this Trail as moderate not hard. I'm a pretty experienced hiker, but even so I found this trail to be pretty easy. It took me 1 hour to get up in 45 minutes to get back down. I didn't have any of this bushwhacking problem. However I did find there was a bit of poop on the trail, but not nearly as much as it sounded like there would be. I was also a little bit disappointed when I got to the top and realized that I could have drove up there and people were walking in and out and couldn't believe that I had hiked up. Just kind of took some of the excitement out of reaching the top

Very challenging trail with excellent views as a reward up top. Much of the ‘trail’ is basically climbing up steep inclines of rocks, so come prepared to use your arms and legs to make the full trek to the top. Not for the casual or unmotivated climber. Good facilities including restroom and water fountains at the trail head. Definitely earns its rating as double black diamond. Best done early in the day as it will get crowded as the morning winds on.

One of the most difficult trails I've been on, but the view is totally worth it. Pace yourself and you'll be fine. Extreme inclines and it is practically rock climbing, so be ready to use your hands and legs to get up the mountain.

Parking gets full quick and the security guards were not helpful at all, very rude in fact, so be prepared to find another parking area. You can't park in the residential area, so I parked at a shopping center nearby and biked from there.
