Small trickle of water. Perfect to attach a baby on you and walk to the falls and back. Wouldn’t go further then that with a baby. Saw lots of dogs. First hike I’ve done here since I moved from California. Reminded me a of Ojai and a little bit of home. Would like to know when the falls have more water.

Great hike for kids and dogs. Nice and shaded most of the way. The cave and the trickle falls are a nice little sit down spot for a water break.

We love this hike!!! Great for kids. :)

Trail closed as of 8/10/18 due to heavy rains. check to see if it’s open before going

Small trickle of water, nice greenery, and overall good little hike.

This is an absolutely fabulous trail! The end gets really steep with a lot of loose gravel and dirty. It can be slipper and difficult for some. My word of advice would be to go as early as possible - they only let a number of people into the park at a time and the canyon can get extremely congested as it can be only a foot or so wide at points

Nice quiet trail with butterflys and hummingbirds . Falls are trickling today.

Quick and easy. You can walk to the top of the “falls” and get a pretty view as well.

So much fun for all ages!

This is a must do hike. Great slot canyon and hike to the peak to over look the tent rock canyon and surrounding vista.

Amazing! My favorite place in New Maxico. Be sure to arrive earlier, as the staff began to clear the trail before 4pm. I think it's too early. They should give visitors more time to experience this great spot.

Does anyone know where to park to access the trail? And what is the nfs trail number?

I can't offer a review but a heads up. they won't let you pass the gate after 300 330. Shorthanded and closing early

This trail is short, but beautiful. It’s an easy going flat trail through the San Pedro Wilderness that leads to the lake. The dogs loved it.

We loved this hike and did both the slot canyon trail and the cave trail. We arrived just after 8 a.m. on a Friday and had no trouble parking. There weren't many people on the hike up, and it was easy navigating the narrow passages. Quite a bit of scrambling up rocks for the last 15 minutes or so, which definitely required some effort. Slippery going down that same section. Beautiful scenery throughout the hike and at the top. $5 cash to enter. Portable toilets on site. Take water and snacks. Total time was about 2.5 hours for both trails. So glad we went early!

From the tight canyons to the top. Some tough spots. As everyone says “go early”.

Beautifully interesting scenery along the way made this hike amazing. We did it in October and the skies were gorgeous blue and the weather was warm, not hot or humid. Would definitely do this hike again. We got great photos along the way!

Walking in soft sand at the beginning was a bit challenging, but worth it once you get to the river. Keep going past the fence and try to go during a cooler part of the year since there is limited shade.

The area will need a lot of rain to get that waterfall going again. The creek above the cave is barely trickling. My app measured .6 miles to the cave o/w.

We did the trail at 7am in July, and it was very quiet and shady. Although the terrain is a gentle climb, there is a lot of crushed rock, which would be challenging for those with balance problems. Worth it to proceed past the falls, but there is a short, steep incline that would be difficult for children.

Easy hike with great views. The reservoir itself is busy but if you hike past it it’s a more moderate level hike with great views of the reservoir.

Fabulous experience!

Did this trail clockwise at midday, when it was 97-99 degrees and partly cloudy in abq. The weather up on the mountain was much nicer! It’s a truly lovely and varied loop that only lacks sweeping views (there are a couple of nice glimpses to the east). It feels very remote and there’s lots of shade (even at midday). I didn’t see much wildlife until near the end, on the approach back to the picnic areas, where there were lots of birds, including a BIG woodpecker, Orioles, and a bunch of Steller’s jays. More variety of foliage in this area, too.

There’s a Medallion Tree along the way, just a bit off the trail (and marked). You can find info online if you’re not aware.

The trail starts and ends on paved road. It doesn’t last long at the beginning, but feels like a long way at the end. You can get off the road if you look for trails that run alongside through the picnic areas, like Acequia Trail. If you can, plan a little extra time to wander around the stream area. I saw a huge array of insects on the arnica daisies, and there are interpretive plaques.

I liked the elevation gain over the first few miles — it felt like exercise but wasn’t brutal. Lots of climb a bit, then there’s a flat stretch, that gets steeper as it goes on. Going counter clockwise would, I think, be much more taxing, with one long, moderately steep climb.

The reviewer who says it goes by the road the whole time is mistaken. This trail is nowhere near a road, and is very quiet. There is one high point where you can hear I40, only briefly.

Beautiful views from the top and your rewarded with a cool breeze through the slot canyon on your way back down. High traffic but worth it..

This was spectacular. We arrived early and were glad we did. Got amazing photos and a great workout as well. Met lots of interesting people along the way as the traffic picked up considerable by 10:00. Would defiantly do this again. Took us about 2 hours. Take lots of water with you.

Very unique sight, all around a great hike. Highly trafficked but I met some nice folks along the way.
Just be aware of the heat and elevation; bring plenty of water and pace yourself accordingly. Very much worth going all the way to the top!

What an amazing view. It’s quite a steep hike, especially if you aren’t adjusted to the altitude. Go early to avoid crowds and sun.
