This hike was amazing. It was only 1.8 or 2.0 miles and it only took an hour or a little bit more to hike. The views were amazing! Would totally recommend it!

We did the whole range except for Macomb. Took about 12 hours. Took a few breaks mostly on the summits. Best views were on Grace and Dix but there are many good views along the range around the summits. Quite steep going down Dix. I recommend bringing two cars and parking one at Round Pond and one at the Trailhead for Grace (formerly East Dix).

Great overall hike for some perfect views! Take this recommended Loop and you wont be disappointed. No part of this trail is too hard that a family cant do. We got to the top in 45min, & continued on to bushwack to Erebus (that takes some planning). Feel free to send me a message for best recommended route. Enjoy!

Basic, but well maintained trails. The trails are an easy hike, and are built to ATV width. This is a great place for a quick run/outing with the family.

Began at the Hogtown parking lot and did the trail to the summit, then the pond and back. We take our time so it took all morning. First time that we had done a mountain summit and it was incredible! Plan on going again in the fall as the view must be wonderful then.

I didn’t think this trail was hard, but by husband did as he has bad knees. Summited in 3 hrs and about 2.5 hrs to descend. The views were nice although it was a cloudy day, I’m sure on a clear day it would be incredible. I would recommend poles if prone to knee strain.

Great panoramic views throughout the trail. Even though this is high up there is shade at regular intervals on this trail in summer which is a welcome relief. Went after a week of on and off raining, the trail was very very slippery. Be careful if you're going after snow/rain, some of the rock scrambles and descents my grip was slipping, especially the steep rocky section by the stream crossing. Plenty of deep crevasses to hop over and a few scrambles near drop offs--keeps the interest and adrenaline going. There are two rock formations that are similar, apparently Gertrude's nose is the one with the larger outcropping. You can take Millbrook Carriage back for a longer but more gentle way to end or to MM trail to Lake Minnewaska for a steeper route.

Looked for but didn't see many blueberries at all, sadly. Plently of huckleberries along the way, though.

So many beautiful views on this loop around Gertrude’s Nose. Loop itself was about 6ish miles, with just under two coming in and out from the parking lot. Not sure about folks who don't find this a difficult trail - either they’re stroking their egos or I’m nurturing mine!...you make the call *smile*. Lots of irregular terrain, steep spots to climb - up and down, and large slippery rocks with water crossings on the path. That said, I’m no pro hiker and I found it totally doable. And, despite it being a Sunday and there being lots of folks circulating by the lake, I was solo for nearly the whole loop.... just ran into one duo toward the end. (Maybe because it was later in the day, ~3-7.) I wanted a challenging new trail with lots of natural beauty and definitely found it!

I really enjoyed this hike, especially the views on the trail. Unfortunately clouds came in after we got to the summit so we did not get the best view from the top. However, I would definitely do this hike again!

I hiked this today and after all the rain we had this week it was MUDDY. I slipped on a few spots, mostly on the way down so you definitely have to watch your footing. View of the lake from the top is amazing and on the loop back down the other side there are views all along the way. Took me longer than I anticipated but mostly because of the mud and having to place my feet carefully. Overall a good hike, neat to see a wind turbine at the top!

Trail was very enjoyable and a little challenging at the summit because of the rock scramble at the end. In addition to the great view from the summit, even without going up the tower, there are several nice views on the way up. Got hit with a pretty good thunderstorm on the way down but it’s all part of the learning curve I’m going through. In this case, don’t pack your rain gear at the bottom of your pack.

Once you get to the peak, the view is amazing. But be prepared for lots of walking. Bring snacks and plenty of water.

Great hike and this route, though a long approach (like every ADK loj hike), is probably the “easiest” route up. Took me 2 hours to get to the Colden trail split at Lake Arnold, and 1 hour to summit. Nice rocky summit with outstanding views everywhere. The lake Arnold trail is a long, gradual but very steady climb so by the time you get to the Colden trail you’ve already ascended quite a bit so that trail is quite simple. One false summit so be aware of that but a great hike albeit long to get to, but makes for a solid day and has loop potential as well if you go down the Lake Colden trail.

Loved it and can’t wait to go back

Amazing hike and breathtaking view at avalanche lake! Very rock scramble-y and rough terrain the last mile or so. The maltidas are awesome and all the trail build-ups like ramps and ladders are well maintained. Now my fave hike I’ve done in adk! There are places you can easily access swimming and in aug it’s not too cold! Took me and my 60 yo dad ~ 8 hrs

2nd time up Hurricane, first was the Northern approach, which was a huge challenge. This trail was so much easier. Well maintained, marked so well it’s unbelievable. This mountain has really become my favorite. The 360 views are spectacular.

Hiked on 7/28. Awesome hike, steep in spots, great lookouts when offered. Recommend going up the Devils Path and down through Jimmy Dolan Notch.

Fun hike, a bit rocky at times, great view at the top. Would definitely hike again!

Lovely trail but this is a moderate one - cannot call this hard

Excellent views and a super easy hike.

My 1st ever trail; you'll love it. great view from top. Hydrate well

Fantastic view from the summit!

We did both Avalanche Lake and Colden Lake. It took 7 hours with stops and around 21 km.
Awesome trail! Beautiful moss cliffs just before the Avalanche Lake. Fantastic lake vies and a path along it. Though it is very cold to swim and there are a lot of mosquitos and black flies. Colden Lake is not so beautiful. If you want to take photos of Avalanche Lake, you'd better do it in the morning because afternoon it is too shadowy.

Took our kids and they loved hiking up through the trees and over the small streams. This was a moderately difficult hike, I wouldn't say hard. The views are stunning.

Hiked up for sunrise, still an amazing hike which reward u with a fantastic view. Continue the hike to Erebus, which is kind of muddy and lack of view

Absolutely stunning views!

This is an wonderful trail with just the right amount of challenge and truly breathtaking views. My dog and I had a blast. It just became my favorite hike!

We Hiked up the Macomb Slide and went on to do South Dix (a scramble) & then Hough. Really awesome 3 peak day hike. I loved the variety of this trail! Great views pretty much the entire time! They call it "un-maintained..." But, if that was true, then who's been out there cutting through the blowdown? Someone certainly has. Definitely a blast & would climb them again!

The views are great and the trail is well-maintained. Good for beginners, I say.

Great hike especially the full loop to the summit and back around Bumps Pond which is less traveled. Very shady and challenging trail but not too difficult and lots of families on the trail. Great views of Lake George from the summit.
