Really pretty hike done 12/10. I schlepped snow shoes up with me, and didn’t even need them. I wore spikes, and was fine - didn’t even need those for certain sections - although sounds like there is a lot more snow now. I managed to get off trail at some point, but that’s not that unusual for me

Did this hike today. Probably because it was in mid January, we met very few hikers. It was snowy in places and heavy wind up top. Pretty decent hike but at times the trail routes might be tricky as there are few signs. I would say its above moderate to difficult hike.

January 21st, must wear spikes and bring poles! Dress warm! It’s fantastic!

It was a beautiful area but didn’t quite make it to snowshoe because 4 cars (all 4 wheel drive even) got stuck in the deep snow along the way and we got sandwiched in between. I definitely recommend stopping at the Mennonite camp and hiking up from there because driving any further might not be possible (and you might get stuck for 2 hours like we did). Tips for driving: STAY IN THE TRACKS. It’s definitely one lane at the moment so if you meet another car...the only way around really is to back up. Most cars got stuck because they moved slightly to one side to make room to pass but ended up in a snow bank. Overall, will definitely be returning when there is less snow.

Hiked on 1/14. Very difficult hike in the winter, trail is not visible above treeline, snowshoes/poles were very helpful but we saw a lot of people going in just yaktrax. It was extremely windy on the day we went. Beautiful hike though and less of a crowd on a Tuesday!

4 stars but only because we couldn’t make it to the top. About 1.7 miles up during the switchbacks the snow is very deep. The tracks of people who had come before us stopped, and we tried to keep going but would have needed snowshoes. Either way - gorgeous views and manageable elevation. Very windy but beautiful sunny day!

Beautiful winter hike great place to watch the sunrise amazing views all around. Word of thanks to the snowshoers who went up the previous day , made the hike much easier.

Nice hike. A bit icy near top but worth the views and quietness.

Went out here today, it was a lot of fun.

Snow was approx 8-12 inches deep on much of the road making it quite a challenge. Several people needed pulled out after getting stuck

Views on this road are amazing, but I did not encounter anything that would make this anywhere near “moderate” without the snow.

Currently there is about 24inches of snow on the trail. If you don’t have 4x4 with snow tires, bring chains or cables or park by the camp. Had to help several stuck cars on road that got stuck and could not reach parking at trailhead. A rav4, Honda Pilot, bmw and Ford Explorer all had all wheel drive but didn’t have the tires needed for that kinda of snow.

Hiked on 1-13-19. The Road past the Mennonite Camp was not plowed. With well over a foot of Snow, several Vehicles got stuck. The Hike is one of my favorites to date. The Trail is uphill for the first and last parts, with a long meadow in the middle. It had been well traveled in the Snow and easy to follow. Micro Spikes and Gators came in handy. It took us over 4 hours with a short break at the top and many breather s along the way.

Beautiful hike, but difficult for sure (its all inclined). It was so slippery, we had to slide back down almost the whole way. The only reason I give it a 4 star & not 5 is because you cannot hardly tell where the right trail is. We ended up going off trail & freestyling up for a good 20min of steep shrub & gravel. I will do it again when its nicer outside. :)

Very challenging hike....risk vs reward on this hike questionable (especially this time of year). Not well marked, scree, ice....etc. Pick another hike in Colorado....no shortage of awesome/safe hikes.

Great trail, so long as you’re prepared. If you find a 4+ inch fixed blade Gerber knife along the scramble, his name is Brütus; please treat him kindly, sharpen him weekly

Hiked this trail in mid-September. Probably my most favorite trail ever. Well worth the scramble up the waterfall. Spectacular lakes set in a backdrop of towering mountains. And the colors were amazing. Definitely worth the effort to get there. Make sure to take the time to stop and enjoy the many views.

Love this trail........and do so does my dog!

Great hike in the winter.. Not as many people, no snakes and there is actually a waterfall (frozen today)

It was my first summit hike in Colorado. Great views and a good challenge.

Interesting geologic formations at trail end. Well worth the trip if you're in the area.

Fun hike with good elevation and happy to have Yaktrax given snow pack and patches of ice as you approach the summit. Others looked to be struggling as we were descending. Parking was available when we arrived at 9 but looked packed when leaving 1ish.

This is one of my favorite local hikes just did a video on it on Christmas day!!
check it out!!

We did this 12/30, starting at around 9:30 with plenty of parking, although it was pretty packed when we left at 1:00. Moderate is accurate, there's some tougher switchbacks but overall not terrible. Yaktrax weren't necessary but I was absolutely glad I had them.

Awesome views from the summit!!

One of the best in the park.

Fun hike but parking is terrible. Just pull off the road if there’s a spot. Get there early!

Did this hike with a few friends yesterday 12/24. It started snowing when we got to the first rest area. Beautiful hike with great views once you reach the top.

Undeniably one of my favorites in Rocky Mountain. Typically pretty busy trail during the summer, and almost always a line around the waterfall climb, but doesn’t distract from the beauty at the top. One of the most fun hikes for the varying terrain and views.
