It was a beautiful day for a hike. This was my first hike up to Kings Chair and it was worth every step. The view is amazing! We hiked up via the Blue Trail and down Red/Blue Connector South. A little steep in parts on the way down to the bridge, but nothing terrible. All in all it was a fantastic hike!
Great work out
Great day to hike. I do recommend better trail markings around the lake’s edge. I also suggest the billboard signage clearly indicate which direction to start the hike. Today the “start” sign was on the side. All and all, I liked the hike so much I will do it again.
Great short trail. Definitely deserves its difficultly rating. Took me around 3 hours with various long stops. Go early in the AM to avoid people and you’re in for an awesome hike.
Easier than my first trip being I was a little more prepared. Great day hike!!
Hard and precarious trail if you’re taking kids and dogs but we managed it going slow and careful and loved it.
Some steep challenging portions, but absolutely stunning at the top with fun views along the way
Beautiful and tough
Cruising through Aladambama on the way to Asheville and decided to check out Oak Mountain State Park and the hiking. Decided on Kings Chair loop and it didn’t disappoint. The trail was well marked and had points of rock and stone pathways with small waterfalls. About one third of the loop parallels a large stream over rock beds that was awesome. Watch out for snakes though (it’s that time of season). Check out one of the pictures and you’ll see what we encountered
Challenging, beautiful
It a beautiful hike! We took the green trail in & connected to the white trail. It was our 1st hike in awhile & I probably should have chose a different trail. The incline on the way to the falls is pretty steep if you’re just beginning to hike, or semi out of shape like me at the moment. But I pushed through & was so happy to get out & do this trail as I’ve been wanting to go for so long. It’s definitely worth this trip!
Such a beautiful lookout spot! I actually accidentally hiked the wrong trail up to the top (there is ZERO cell service once you hit the trail so make sure you have an offline version of the map) so I can only comment on the blue trail on the way back down which was wayyyy easier than the trail I took on the way up. Went from 11am to 2pm on a Sunday and the trail was fairly busy. All in all worth it for the gorgeous view!
Nice trail, pretty walk! I jumped from the black trail to the red trail near the lake so I could have more waterview.
Took the blue trail in and the white trail out.
Lots of people out today. Nice hike! Don't get off the trail climbing up to the top of the fall unless you're a mountain goat! Fun fun!!
My new favorite Alabama trail! The beginning was quite a work out but walking along the lake for the rest of the time made it worth it.
This is a really visually rewarding trail! First and last miles (in and out) are easy walk through the woods, that are not frequently visited therefore you can notice deers running etc (we saw several of them three times!). The “middle” two miles are the hard ones but really exciting - zigzagging by the lake’s shore, around boulders etc. Beautiful trail to have a drone and take some pictures and videos.
It’s a beautiful trail that zigzags along the rocky cliff shoreline and there are some very steep, narrow sections. I followed the map and ended up with around 4 miles and over 1500ft of elevation gain according to my Garmin, so be aware that it’s probably longer and harder than you’d expect. There is also a shortcut you can take if you want a little shorter of a hike, all of the trails are well-marked.
Loved the clear trails. Will come back!!
I love combining the two trails.
it was a nice walk in the woods.
