What a great little hike! Got to the trailhead about 8am on a Sunday and saw no one on the trail, must have been lucky!

Trail was very snowy and due to the past few days of wind the snow wasn't very packed. Super beautiful and amazing hike and there were plenty of people on the trail, but I would not recommend it without snow shoes or spikes

Pretty hike! Short enough to do mid-day, microspikes would be beneficial!

Hiked 3/13 with boots plus 30 lbs of camera gear, 20oz of water, a camera monopod/tripod/walking stick, and a MacBook Pro 15 (Which I regret carrying). Trail is mostly snow and very little ice unless you include the frozen lake. Great for first timers during all seasons. Definitely quite the winter wonderland and there's a fair amount of friendly people throughout the trail.

Very relaxed and beautiful trail!

Hiked 3/14. Great hike for people who are familiar with the outdoors. We hiked with just hiking boots but microspikes would have definitely been handy as the snow was a bit slick/slippery. Beautiful weather made it an incredibly beautiful hike. When we arrived at Emerald Lake it was extremely windy but we were able to sit and take in the majesty of the lake for a few minutes before we headed back.

Pretty and easy trail with a beautiful waterfall and view.

Almost completely packed down snow right, as all the trails in this area will be for awhile. Slight elevation gain to Alberta Falls, but nothing crazy. We have a 4 and 7 year old and the only one that used spikes was my wife. On the way back it would be helpful though. Right now you can see the water at the top of the waterfall running down through the ice... very cool. This one if good for kids. We do it once during winter and once during summer every year.

Great trail for beginners like myself! Can’t wait to go in the summer

Amazing hike!

Did the hike on Sunday, 3/4, and the snow was packed down enough to hike in my hiking boots. I had Yaktrax on, which helped a lot after the sun got warmer and slushed up the snow on some of the steeper parts. The trail does take on a few different paths at points, but they all converge together eventually. Get there early, too! I got there at about 9:30, and the giant lot was already half full, and by the time I got down around 11:30, it was completely full.

Snow is packed enough to do in boots!

Gorgeous winter hike. Tough with the extra mileage due to the road closure. Definitely bring snow shoes.

Great little winter hike. We went the extra half mile to Lost Lake. In the winter you can't park at the trailhead so that adds about a half mile as well. No snowshoes required but yaktraks are nice!

Beautiful start to finish

Beautiful hike and great length. Only thing that was tough is it was very snowy and we forgot to bring spikes/ snow shoes.

Snowshoed this trail last night at full moon light. Nice short trail and spectacular views. The peaks were lit up with the reflection off the snow. Can't wait to get back here and see it in the daylight!

Good view, the roads closed so it’s about a 10-20 minutes walk to the trail head.
Fairly trafficked trail even in the winter so I’d leave your snow shoes at home, yaktraks with hiking boots is sufficient, some parts of the trail are icy.

Nice short hike and the view was great! Was able to hike with just boots but trail was packed from snow shoers.

Scenery is worth every step you take in the area

Spikes were enough for this hike.

High winds- lots of fresh snow!!

Only needed our snowshoes for the last .5 miles of the trail - everything else was packed down enough that our boots were just fine! Otherwise, absolutely beautiful hike.

comfortable hike with amazing waterfall!

Great winter lake. Stay left at the “dream lake” sign. Emerald lake is about 3/4 mile from dream lake. We wore snowshoes but spikes would’ve sufficed. Enjoy!

I just did this trail today (1/31/18). The trail was clearly marked and packed down. Micro spikes are a must, and snow shoes optional once you get closer to Dream Lake and Emerald Lake (I didn't use them). I heard they're supposed to get some snow this next week so I'm not sure how it will impact the paths. Follow the packed snow and openings in the trees and you'll be fine!

Perfect winter hike. Stunning views! Did not have snow shoes or spikes and was able to complete without much difficulty.

Awesome hike but definitely need snowshoes or at least micro spikes. Get to the trail early because it’s a madhouse by 10a.
