Went on a Cold Sunday morning hike. We took the Kopetski trail loop and came around the back side of jawbone flats. No worries you end up on the same trail you start on. We started our hike at 11 AM and got done at 2:15 PM. We only saw two other groups of hikers until we started to head back, then it was a bit more crowded, but no problem as it’s not nearly as bad as the summer time. Dress warm/layers as you are hiking in a canyon that gets very little sunlight and it’s cold until you warm up from hiking. We stopped for a small lunch at jawbone flats and had to layer back up before we got going again. Love this place. BRING CASH OR CHECK for parking. And if you can spare it, the town takes donations too, and once you see how pristine they help keep the town and trails you’ll want to donate. Great hike for all ages and skills but the Kopetski Loop is a little more rugged and step, would not recommend for little ones or people with old knees. Enjoy.

great family hike. can be muddy at times and slippery in some spots. still a great and beautiful hike.

Didn’t make it to the falls, vehicle was not sufficiently equipped for snow. The road leading to the falls is paved and narrow, and currently has a decent layer of ice and snow. Vehicles without snow tires or chains should proceed with extreme caution.

Did this during a wind storm on 7 December 2018. Reversing the route gave a much steeper ascent and is not recommend. Some of the trail is still beautiful, some waterfalls are amazing, but the essential beauty of several segments was lost to the fire.

One of the most beautiful hikes in Oregon. Jawbone Flats is an incredible site to see.

Nice walk and a beautiful waterfall!

Beautiful forestry and an amazing waterfall.

Nice and easy walk. Nice and clean trail with a few falls. It's cool to be able to go behind the last one and just listen.

Great views. Do not go counter clockwise.

Great hike, beautiful views up Elk mtn. However, my gps recorded the loop distance at 8.12 miles, NOT 7. I thought that was an important correction to make!

This was a great hike. It was very windy but nice and sunny!

pretty falls

Very interesting how the water flows out of the rocks.

This hike is a gorgeous forest loop that offers varying scenery. It’s overshadowed by the Trail of Ten Falls, which is great because there’s a lot less people on it. It is horse accessible, and there’s plenty of horse poop to prove it, but it wasn’t a big deal for us. The uphill portions of this hike are painful, but then it’s downhill the whole way back. Now, if you’re a lover of mud like I am, enjoy the crap out of this. If you’re delicate and don’t like to get dirty, find something else to do besides this trail. It’s also very well marked, so getting lost would be difficult. We didn’t see any critters on the trail, but a sign at the trailhead said that bears and cougars have been spotted there before. Based on the density of the forest, I’m pretty sure they were there watching us amble through. Creek crossings were fine because of lovely bridges, and there’s plenty of water on the trail for dogs.

Tried to go hiking here on Xmas 2018. Hikes here in April 2017, private property signs not up, now they are. It also seems from this site that other access points are closed to like from Foss Road. Will be nice to be able to ride the bike to the coast not on a highway though when the Salmonberry Trail opens.

Great hike, tons of waterfalls. Beautiful scenery despite scorched landscape at certain points.

Defaulted to this trail after seeing how rutted the road to Silver Star/Ed's Loop is.

I was on this trail Saturday 1/5/19 and came across what appeared to be large cat scat (essentially a very large hair ball) that was very fresh. There were also older piles along the way. I'm not well versed on identifying scat but it was enough for me to turn back. Please be careful.

Very difficult hike indeed with a steep terrain (great for cardio and calf work). There are some spots with views along the way to catch your breath. Took me about 1h30 to get to the top. I hiked in the rain and fog so no idea how the views look like on top (going with clear sky definitively recommended...). Enjoy!

Hiking this trail in the winter is the way to go if you want to skip the crowds. It was the perfect little hike for a winter day.

Easy and beautiful hike! Simple access. visitors from Australia loved it!

Great easy hike! A little tough when you want to go down to water , which is cold.. pretty busy on a Sunday, got to parking at about 1100. Water color is amazing!!! Would love to come back when their is snow everywhere . Highly recommend.

Kicked my butt, but it was an amazing hike with wonderful views. Did it New Years Day, parking wasn’t full even at 10am. Saw a decent number of people. We brought our 75lb Shepherd/golden mix and highly recommend booties for any dogs on the mountain, especially near the top. We put his boots on around 1.75mi up the mountain when the chain link became prevalent on the ground. Bring lots of snacks, the elevation is harder than it seems! Be careful of ice covering the path near the top. Would love to go back again.

Beautiful hike, mostly dirt but where the canopy lightened there was a little snow on the ground. By the end of the hike the snow was mostly melted. The pool was beautiful with the snow falling, but don't expect a big waterfall this time of year.

Short hike but more than worth it! Beautiful waterfall! My girlfriend and I went during winter and it was a little chilly but the walk was short and getting soaked by the falls was worth it! The hike in was beautiful!

Went beginning of Jan when it was in the mid 40s. Not too muddy and no micro spikes needed.

Had some great views but the last 1.2 miles is just road. If you turn around at the waterfall to do an out and back it’d probably be something like 10 miles. Didn’t encounter cars on the road though which was good.

Great hike for the start of 2019. Get there early as there is parking but it will fill up. Hike is easy and well worth it. Be prepared for lots of people. It’s a popular spot!

Great trail, good challenge and great scenery. I recommend starting in the direction of Multnomah Falls, that way you can finish with fewer crowds of people.

Loved it. Waterproof shoes were a must since waterfalls actually passed over the trails (day after rain in December). Absolutely gorgeous and not too busy, but not entirely isolated - I did it alone so it was nice to occasionally see some people.

A little dicey coming off the summit. I can’t imagine going counter clockwise, waaay too steep. Overall a gorgeous hike and it’s nice to end with an easy walk down by the water.
