Very green. Would call it more of an easy hike, than moderate. Many bathrooms along the way. Dogs came back with ticks, so check your dogs in the spring. Narrow trail, but pretty views. No benches along the way. Bathrooms/picnic at the "turn around point". We got stuck in the rain and walked a quick mile back to our car at the trail head. Good choice as opposed to walking 2.5 miles back. Glad we went early spring. Would be very touristy in summer.

Really great trail! Lots of bikers when I was out. There was a closure that stopped me from doing the full loop but other than that this was a really nice trail.

It is a beautiful view. Don’t listen to the 7.7 miles it’s more like 10 miles but it’s fine still a nice view. My aunt went with me she was 8 months pregnant it was really easy for her.

Great trail , beautiful views , other trails you can take for more scenery , love the coast views

One of the funniest trails I have explored thus far. Plenty of Tule Elk as advertised and a plethora of wildlife to see!

Nice hike, pretty easy and very dusty. Terrain varies from woods to meadow, mostly flat. Picnic table overlooking airstrip. Some of us (well, ok..me) were freaked out by the pack of coyote we heard crying/calling. Seemed to be stalking us. I had my puppy with me and it was very un-nerving. Past a runner who said he sees the pack often but not to worry...they are harmless. No others on the trail. Id recommend doing this with a friend or two.

Beautiful hike! It delivered the marvelous views as advertised.. On a clear blue day the colors were unbelievable and the rich variety of vegetation and wildlife were glorious. We saw elk, bobcat, jackrabbit, and lots of birds. Wild strawberries in bloom, California poppies, irises, and other wildflowers. The trail was pretty packed- Presidents Day, and the wind was wicked strong and cold. Definitely needed a lot of layers. Really wished I had a hat or hood.

If you’re doing the loop just know you’re going to have to walk on the street for like a half mile to get back to where you parked. It’s closer to 9 miles.

The real scoop... the west side of the loop, the long side, is interrupted by several camp sights. So it’ll be awesome and then you’ll walk the huge camp sights and finding the trail and getting back on track can be a pain. The east side, around a mile shorter, is amazing. Great trail. Ups and downs. My gf and I enjoyed it a lot.

The waterfall is awesome. You have to walk past the bridge, can’t miss it, and you’ll approach it. We sat and had our lunch here. For a man-made waterfall is amazing. Still beautiful and would go back to see it any time, but would only hike the east side and not do the loop.

As others have mentioned, trail is a little hard to follow at first. look for footprints in the snow and cairns. Lots of ice on the trail, recommend yaktrax. Snow is deeper after the foot bridge. I turned around just below the first lake as the trail disappeared and I began postholing to my knees, snowshoes would be helpful here. Fairly strenuous trail and good views along the way. Dog loved it and I was the only one there on a Tuesday.

Very scenic, views ranging from rain forest, to Northern forests. Also pretty easy, great to do it early in the morning. We saw deer as we got there early.

While this trail is one of the more popular and busy trails in the park it really is a great one to try if you want to really experience what Point Reyes has to offer all in one place. The hike begins at an old farm house and after about a quarter mile later you are overlooking beautiful vistas of the sea cliffs. You'll encounter many different types of wild life on the hike as there are roaming elk packs and many different types of birds flying around. The hike is pretty easy/moderate as the 1200 ft elevation gain is spread out over a couple rolling hills along the 9.5 mile in and out trail. The trail is well defined and easy to follow but suffers a lot of erosion in places and at certain points becomes sandy. this hike is usually windy and there is almost no tree cover for shade.

Nice and pretty easy hike. It’s beautiful and this time of year, not many people on the trail.

This is a nice mellow ride with a lot of great views. I recommend going counter clockwise around the lake. make sure to stop and check out the water fall near the East part of the lake called the meadows area. There is a lot of pine needles on the camping side of the lake.
There a couple of Free to Park areas that are very small and a couple of $5 day use parking areas outside of the main gates. Just ask about them at the entrance of the lake.

It’s really nice hike with all combine. Bear valley trail is almost flat with no elevation gain along with stream and forest. Arch rock is already collapsed, so avoid it. Sky trail has smoothly elevation gain with good view of pacific.

I loved this hike! I would rate it on the easier side of “moderate”, but overall really enjoyed myself and the group I came with. The dogs had a blast and there were tons of places to rest and enjoy the lakefront. Had I not been with a group, this would’ve been really fun to run as it had a good mix of hills and the path, although narrow, was easily traceable. I think the right way to do this one would be to wear a bathing suit, bring some snacks and towels, and make it into a private(ish) day in the water. We arrived late morning and got a good mix of sun and shade, I’d love to come back!

We loved this hike and got so many opportunities to see elk, hawks (and various other birds), and other little critters. Definitely bring sunscreen and/or a hat as the trail overs very little coverage. I rated this trail a 4 because although the views were stunning, the out-and-back nature of this hike made the terrain a little boring and the uphill terrain made it difficult to really enjoy the views at every moment. I wouldn’t consider the terrain difficult by any means, but the length of the trail may make this one a bit more difficult for those looking for quick weekend adventure. The great thing about out-and-backs though is that you can always cut the hike to your desired length!

The weather was perfect and beautiful view all the way. Most of hiking were flat walking but we had some up the hill. It totally worth it the effort.

Awesome hike ... marsh land, beach trek, hills with views of the ocean and forest. Back side of trail culminates with a half mile walk along the road/parking lot.

Stayed at Coastal Camp for the first night then went on to Wildcat Camp for night 2! Also along Coast Trail! Awesome 3 days .

Nice hike. Early morning fog provides some drama to this hike.
