The waterfall is beautiful, but we were more drawn to the views along the trail leading up to it, and another trail going through the bamboo woods to the left of the fall. The view were gorgeous, some looked like they were straight out of Jurassic Park. However, because of the easy accessibility of this trail, it gets crowded.

On the day we went hiking here, we later found out there had been a big land slide by the upper waterfall and that some hikers were missing. Hence, be careful with climbing higher and going off the trails, especially after rain. Take the warning signs seriously!

01 19 19 tried hiking this trailer based on the most reset reviews. absolutely CANT MAKE IT WITHOUT SNOWSHOES. kept sinking to my waste each time I tried to get up. will try again next week with snowshoes.

Wear appropriate shoes if you're not experienced or tend to be a little clumsy like me. Steep but well worth it. Lots of people but it's a short beautiful tropical hike worth visiting.

Can get a little muddy but definitely worth the hike. Easy to do and a definite must if you are visiting Hawaii.

Great hike. I did a Google Earth Trail on Saturday here. You can do a virtual like walk of the trail and into the cave at www.shaunasadventures.com or on Google Earth. We had on spikes/ Crampons and made it to the cave fine. Headed up a little before 9, and there was not too many crowds, but as we headed down there was a huge group heading up. Most people heading up had sleds. I wish I would have asked them where they were heading to sled. I am thinking they were going to take the V shaped trail marked on my blog to the North Fork road and then sled down it. Definitely would have been fun sled ride down.

From Manoa Falls, I went up Aihualama. At the end of Aihualama where it meets Pauoa Flats, I took the right and headed towards a lookout point with a bench. Once past Manoa Falls, I hardly came across anyone.

Nice waterfall, but many people.

hike with the right conditions make the walk enjoyable, and definitely worth it. The trail does get confusing at the end if you haven't been to the falls before or there are very few hikers around. No swimming space at the waterfall, but often kids climb up and sit on the low ledges on the falls, foliage is also very beautiful, great for picture taking and nature enthusiasts. There are prime picture taking places before the falls if you're just going for the views, large trees and shrubbery/trail markings are nice props for photos. Does get muddy, and depending on how rainy it's been there are bugs/mosquitos. Children, dogs, and active adults will have a great time here, with the right weather conditions.

This is not an easy hike! Several older hikers had to turn back. AllTrails has a tendency to underestimate the hikes. The falls at the top are tall but not too much water. It’s not Yosemite falls. You’re not suppose to go in the small pool at the bottom of the falls. Lots of steps to the top make it strenuous. When it’s flat then it’s easy. Very slippery and muddy because the trail is in shadow.

Beautiful scenery! We all loved this hike! The light mist was refreshing!

Loved this hike. Views of the valley, tree's, tree's and more tree's then opening, then tree's then the gorgeous lake. Trail was packed down pretty well until the last half mile or so. Then snowshoes would be helpful but we didn't use them. A sled would have been helpful on the way down as well.

easy hike, good views. Dont try and get a picture by the falls unless you want to walk back with freezing feet. Ha!

Beautiful, easy hike. Cool ice cave. Hiked today (mid-January) with hiking/snow boots and we were just fine.

Great trail for beginners and children! Be prepared to get a little muddy, but the views are great!!! At the waterfall it was crowded when we went but someone had a memorial going on!

Very crowded

Easy hike for all ages. Path is covered with crushed rock in several parts so even on a wet day it won't be ridiculously muddy. Plus most of the incline has stairs built in to make it any easier hike. Falls at the end are well worth the quick trip.

great hike! we didn't go up the last portion but it was so much fun anyway. snow was packed in but we had spikes and poles. definately need to go back and go up to the cave!

I hiked this yesterday with a friend. It wasn’t too crowded and the snow was packed down so hiking boots were fine. We didn’t do the very last part to the actual falls because it was too steep and slippery. Other people were doing it though.

very quick and rewarding hike. it's definitely slick and muddy in some parts so come prepared with the right footwear. It can get crowded at times as well.

Gorgeous views all along the trail and a beautiful waterfall at the end. Not too incredibly challenging but very slippery, overall a very fun experience!

Fairly easy hike, very slippery when wet. Prepare for a little rain as you hike up in the mountains. So green and beautiful the whole way up! We hiked on New Year’s Eve and there were many tourists and extra people.

Easy, short, scenic hike to the the beautiful falls! Plan ahead for muddy trails with appropriate footwear. The falls and surrounding pool are supposed to be off limits and the water is said to cause some illness, but we saw several people ignoring the signs. Will definitely do this trail again!

Beautiful and easy hike! I’m a beginner and am not super athletic and I had no trouble at all. If you have time for one hike while in Oahu, this is a great choice!

Lots of families and fellow tourists but people were mostly quiet and very courteous. You’ll often find yourself alone on the trail or can hop off on a side path for some quiet time in nature.

Amazing short little hike. It has hard snow pack so no snow shoes necessary. The view at the falls is amazing. Truly a great one for the whole family. And the reward is well worth the work.

Probably best when enjoyed early in the morning before the masses get there. I felt that we were dodging those on a Sunday stroll when we wanted to get our heart rates up for this hike. We def worked up a good sweat with the humidity, though!

The falls are truly a shared experience and you should expect to see a selfie stick or two.

Do yourself a favor and keep going on the trail above the falls into the bamboo run. On a windy day you get a symphony of haunting clicks as they hit each other while they sway.

Wear your dark or old shoes, expect to get mud on them, but know you can hose them off at the end. Bring a plastic bag to protect your car.

Easy hike. Falls aren't that impressive. A lot of tourists

We ventured on this trail after a heavy rain so the falls were in full force. Trail was a bit slippery however didn't have any issues in or out

Heavily trafficked, but everyone was respectful and stood the the side to share the trail. There also plenty of people along the hike that can take your picture if you take theirs as well. :)

great and easy hike
