Great Trail! Almost no people.

Picturesque hike! Wow.

During snowy conditions, Yaktrax shoe chains are definitely worth it, as it gets pretty icy! You can by them for ~ $25 in the shop in Curry Village.

Good hike and away from the crowds at Cowles. Moderate hike and highly recommend. Just over 2 hours from start to finish.

This was a great trail would definitely recommend it.

Incredibly beautiful trail with a new amazing view around every corner! There are some old growth and new growth parts. We found ourselves stopping frequently to marvel at these incredible trees.

Dogs are NOT allowed - there was a sign at the trailhead. It also was a bit muddy when we went but nothing too bad.

Really great trail. Plan more time then you typically would on a 5 mile trail because you will be in awe of the Redwoods (lots of pics) also the trail was not busy at all which was a very pleasant surprise. Would highly recommend

I’ve done this hike without snow & ice & its totally different. Still a great hike, but icy/snowy & slippery in spots. Especially past the base of Vernal Falls. See pics :)

Nice trail even in winter. Yosemite in March is awesome.

Definitely NOT moderate. It was a great hike but there was interesting spots and I questioned my ability to continue lol. Great views and lots of friendly people along the way. Part of the trail is being closed and there were no signs

this app and place is so fun and refreshing!!!!!!

NOT MODERATE. Not at all. Be sure to check the map often as it was easy to get off trail...at one point we were basically rock climbing on a section of trail one of the rangers said they were planning to close off soon.

LOVE it!! Go early in the morning though.

Amazing redwoods. Seasonal bridge was not available but a giant tree across the creek gave us access. Awesome grove! Take the dirt backroad to crescent city and you may see some elk around the time you hit pavement

Beautiful trail! Definitely worth taking single track trails when you can, see below recommendation there. So clean and lots of water right now. Trekking poles highly recommended. Trail is not well marked back in the falls trail area so bring your phone/map and make sure you don’t get too side tracked on a deer trail?!

Easy, but boring for me minus the suspension bridge

Very green and scenic during this time of the year! I would recommend hiking during the winter and spring while it’s still green. The trail are not marked well so make sure you pay attention and follow the map on your phone. Parking is very difficult, be prepared.

Went on to Pyles Peak from Cowles and loved this section so much! I heard my first rattlesnakes!! It took me a second for it to sink in what I was hearing. Never saw them thank goodness they were off in the brush. Beautiful views and not many people along the trail. Easy to navigate.

Mt. Diablo comes alive in the winter!

Oh my goodness. This was my first trail at Yosemite and it was incredible. You can’t beat the view from the top of Nevada Falls. Definitely recommend this hike! Just make sure you pack plenty of water!

Great hike to Pyles Peak even if it rains on you.

Great views and you just feel like you are in the wide open with no one around.

This is my favorite winter hike. I like single track so I take Donner to Hetherington to Wasserman and avoid a good portion of the fire roads. On the return I get to Back Creek via Tickwood.

This was an amazing hike.
We passed boy scout tree on the way, so we found it on the way back. Around every corner opened up to new amazing views of the redwoods. Total milage for one way came into 2.9, because of going off trail to see boy scout tree.
Total miles round trip was about 6.
No huge inclines, overall pretty easy/medium hiking level.
It was so muddy because it rained a day prior. I don't recommend doing this hike in the rain. We went on a lucky sunny day.

Great views all around! The first mile makes for an awesome workout...nothing but climbing!! Would love to live close to some climbs like this so I can do repeats as my evening workouts.
My party followed this route up to the summit then north peak. From there we went on the trail for the Grand Loop Trail.

This is the most amazing trail. You get to hike right next to the water fall, which is beautiful, but prepared to get VERY wet! The steps going up the waterfall are very slippery, so you need shoes with good traction. Also, I would call this trail difficult rather than moderate. Many people were turning back half way up. Definitely worth it though!!

Amazing, high elevation so you need to be prepared and be in shape for this trail. Wear appropriate hiking shoes! I’ve seen people in flip flops and sneakers and they did not make it on the last leg of the trail.

Love this hike! I’ve done 3 different trails & I love them all

A bit more than moderate but a cool hike

You have to go up
Cowles to make it to Pyles!!! 5hrs Hike

This was a great hike and nice way to add some more distance / challenge to Cowells Mountain. The Hardest part for me was the climb back to Cowells Mountain from Pyles Peak, it was right when my legs started to get really tired! Make sure to plan accordingly on a hot day this hike would be brutal. Well worth the views.
