Nice little offshoot from Frary Peak Trail. Hiked 12/3 after hard snow previous day. Had no problem with regular hiking boots.

One of the most beautiful trails I have been on. Highly recommend. I wouldn't recommend taking small children.

Great for a quick mid morning hike.
Up and back is about a 1.5 hrs.
Love the view from the cave.

A real hidden gem, did this last week, got a little snow. I could see where the vegetation could block the views, but in the fall it was beautiful.

Excellent hike this morning. Predawn start to catch the sunrise from the top. Fresh layer of snow 1-2inches. The streams are frozen over enough to support my 200+lbs. Didn’t attempt the lake although it looked pretty thick. Plenty of deer to be seen and some moose tracks.

****ATTENTION****

As of October 30 Cecret Lake Trail is closed. In fact, the only road to the trail is closed for construction.

This is one of my favorite lakes in the Wasatch. A good all around hike with a fantastic mountain lake at the end, that you can swim in. The trail gets fairly steep in some spots but nothing too bad.

5 stars, this trail was breathtaking. Fall colors were glorious and getting to the caves at sunset with no other people there, to die for. Amazing. Will do again.

Great hike to take the pups on with gorgeous views! Would definitely do the hike again on spring and fall! Mostly shaded single track trail with dirt and some boulders throughout. Had a nice quick stream crossing where you walked over some rocks and boulders to keep your feet dry. Almost all the fall leaves were on the ground already so the backdrop had a lot of bare trees. Not too crowded on a Saturday surprisingly. The drive up the road to the trailhead is pretty rocky and rough which was not very fun but the hike and views were well worth it. Parking lot was small so we parked on the roadside. Was glad to see that they honored the National Parks Pass so we didn’t have to pay any fees.

Great trail to take the pup out on! Keep an eye out for the moose about 1/2 way up. He loves to hang out in the thicket by the pines.

Great easy walk around the lake.

It was a really challenging trail for me. It’s a good trail to overlook the city, but not much of an escape. I would recommend it for fireworks watching. The traffic, planes, trains, and emergency vehicles are audible all the way up the trail. The work you put in doesn’t feel like an equal output.

Enjoyed the challenging hike during the cooler temperatures. Very peaceful at the end to relax.

I've wanted to do this one for a while, and finally made it up today with a few friends. The trail is relatively steep, but well marked. I really enjoyed the hike; one of the best in northern Utah in my opinion. A brisk fall day might have contributed to how much I enjoyed it, because we had the cave all to ourselves.

Beautiful trail with fall colors this time of year. The trail is dirt packed and slightly damp from the cool weather with lots of fall color leaves on the ground. Getting to the overlook is fun with some pretty easy switchbacks, but be sure to keep hiking till you get to the wooden bench and don’t stop early despite the trail map. The views from the overlook are gorgeous with a great mountain view and city scape. The dogs and I had a great hike!

Fun, easy hike. Took me 45 minutes to reach the cave. October 6,2018. Not too difficult, beautiful weather.

Trail is a nice trail, packed dirt. Went on 10-5-18, and fall colors are amazing. the view at the end is well worth the hike. stunning overlook views throughout the hike. Took parents who are in their 50s and not acclimated to the elevation and they were able to make it the whole hike (they are in decent shape though). Took us 1.5 hours to get to the top at a slowish pace and 45 minutes to get back down at a quick pace. From car and back, my phone tracked the entire hike at 5.59 miles.

Great quick hike. Beautiful views.

I really loved this hike! You have a b
view almost every step of the way. I clocked in at 4.6 miles total though, but worth it. We saw 5 deer and a bull moose right off the trail. My 4 and 6 year olds were able to do this with slight help. The dirt road leading up to this is pretty bumpy though, that was the worst part.

Best hike ever!

This trail is closed through October 2018. I made the trip up yesterday, along with quite a few other hikers, only to find out it is temporarily closed.

Gorgeous trail. We were in a race against the fading daylight so I would rate this hard vs moderate merely for the speed we were going. If you have Verizon, you will NOT get service for your map so make sure you download the map before you get to the parking lot. We hiked the last 0.5 mile in the dark. The views were absolutely stunning and as we only had time for a quick (under 2 hours) hike, this one was perfect. Huge scenery payout for the time invested.

Beautiful hike! Nice breeze and sounds of birds the whole way. The colors of the leafs are so brilliant right now! The cave at the end is a treat! Highly recommend. Not too steep !

Keep in mind, you have to pay a $6.00 fee to park at the entrance of the trail. Also, the 3-mile dirt road leading up to the trail is a bit bumpy. I wouldn’t recommend driving up in something that doesn’t have AWD. I brought my 5 year old on this hike and he did really well (we took a lot of breaks haha). The scenery is beautiful and I found myself wanting to take pictures at every turn. I’ve never been in the spring/summer, but I can’t imagine a better time to hike here than in the fall when all the leaves are changing color.

We hiked this trail on this beautiful day today. I used map my walk app both directions and it showed it was 2.5 mi from parking lot to the lake. The first part was a pretty gentle incline about 1.5 mi through gorgeous aspens. The last .75 mile is much steeper probably closer to hard rating vs moderate. It was very enjoyable having our lunch at the lake and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. We have hiked about 4 other trails in the vicinity and this definitely is the most scenic. The fall colors were lovely. The dirt road not so great and could use some help. We passed about a dozen other hikers mostly with their dogs. The trail goes up higher to another lake but we didn’t go higher today.

love it

I went with three other friends early in the morning 9am this fall (totally recommend going in the fall). We stopped a lot for pictures and to catch our breath. (One has asthma). But we still made it up to the Caves in an hour and 45 mins. When we got there, the Caves were underneath so we climbed down to them and it was fantastic! We ate lunch there and it was wonderful weather, once in a while a big gust blows at you but not like you’re going to be pushed around. As a group, we went around the cave to find another one next to it. Be careful, even with good shoes it’s very slippery (dry). We decided to go down what looked like a trial and it lead us back to the original trail. Warning, about 2/3 there’s a fork in the trail. Left side is a very steep cliff that’s about a 9ft drop. It’s manageable if you have people around you. The right also has a small drop and it’s manageable for one person. Over all, the whole adventure took about 4 hours. I’d totally do this again(even going through the steep trail). Makes great memories with friends! Also, I’m not an experienced hiker. I’m mediocre at best. Have fun!

very cool and worth the effort
