Beautiful views of the valley. We used this loop in August as a leg-stretch the day after we did Half Dome. Flat and very easy, and you can do whatever parts of the loop you want to do and make it however short or long you want, really.

Loved this trail. Completed Jan 2018. Snow covered in areas and waterfall was frozen. Very beautiful and great views!

The trees are absolutely magnificent. It''s a really easy drive from Bakersfield and it gets pretty nice when you get closer, as the forest gets more dense. It's a simple walk a long a paved path so you can take anyone young or old. If you're looking for something a little more adventuresome, take the same road a little farther north and head up Dome Rock for great views.

Really nice hike. Roads were closed due to snow when we visited so took the long way, but was worth it because of all the Mule deer that crossed the trail in front of us. Not recommended on a cloudy day, because then there is no view from the top.

The perfect walk to start your trip into the Sequoias. Within this hour you’ll learn everything you need to know to spot young or old sequoias, what type of environment is most suitable for growth, and a little history about the park. It’s perfect for all ages and super easy to complete.

We went up to Nevada falls via the Mist Trail and then looped back down the John Muir switchbacks. If you like to hike you must do this - it’s beautiful and rewarding. I love this hike. We went when the falls were just thundering and we were soaked so be prepared for that possibility depending on how Vernal falls is running. If you’re in Yosemite and have not done this hike just do it you will not regret it! Spectacular views.

I've done this trail several times, and I never get tired of it. It is one of my favorites!

JM trail was closed so we couldn't do the loop in mid october. Ended up doing out and back on the mist, still a great hike. Definitely one of the more popular trails in the valley, so be prepared for lots of traffic on trail.

We did this hike in mid-December. While cold on the valley floor, we quickly warmed up with both the elevation gain and increased exposure to the sun. Really busy at the base of the hike but thins out as different path options are made available. Beautiful views of the valley and two legendary waterfalls. Great places to stop for lunch or enjoy a beer. Easy to follow, although we weren't able to do the full loop due to trail closures from rockfall risk.

Challenging hike but the views are worth it. I'd definitely like to check it out in the Spring. Trail got pretty busy on the way down so start early.

Awesome trail that is almost completely uphill out and downhill back. This is a do not miss hike when in Yosemite. The views get better and better as you go. Completed it over New Years so it was a little icy on the stairs by the top of the falls but there is a little side route to avoid the ice if you need.

Fun, short hike up stairs to a beautiful view. Not recommended for those who are afraid of heights!

Absolutely beautiful! No snow or ice, but I did it before tonight’s storm. You can’t beat the views of the mountains or the valley below.

12/23/18- amazing views and no snow or ice on the stairs.

Hiked this trail on Dec 19, 2018. It was fully covered by snow during this season, so you have to walk on snow for the whole time. If you have proper shoes, it's still a easy one. We spent a lot of time on the trial to take pictures. It took 2h to hike around 2 miles to reach the end to see the fall. Although half of the fall had been forzen, it still looked amazing. We took around 40mins to walk back since no need for more pics. It's a quite trail and we only met one couple for the whole time while we were in the trail. For those ones looking and easy trail with beautiful views in this park, I high recommend this one.

Parts of the Mist trail are closed, detouring you to John Muir trail. It makes it longer by ~2.5 but completely with it. Great views of upper Yosemite Falls as you hike up John Muir trail

Beautiful hike in the snow. Waterfall is partially frozen - a good winter look! I used snowshoes from the campground entrance to the trailhead, and then the road was cleared on my way back so I could walk. Traction was helpful on the trail.

This hike was a little disappointing. Went on this trail trip with my Bakersfield College Forestry class and the forester that guided us did not know anything about anything. The trees are big and the trail was really great for people with wheelchairs but wildlife was awkwardly absent. I really did not like that wildlife was absent.

Very beautiful trail. The waterfall was frozen when I hiked this one but still nice to see. Camping was really cool but full so get a spot early. *Warning store you food properly because the bears are brave here. We saw two black bear in one night of being there. Drive slow to not kill these beautiful black bears and their cubs.

Woah! Great hike, straight up at some points but worth it. Some ice on the steps toward the top. Amazing views, wonderful waterfall and less than 10 people!

My girlfriend and I did this hike on Sunday (12/2) after having camped in the Upper Pines Campground the night before.

After watching sunrise at Tunnel View and exploring the Yosemite Valley Village, we made the short drive over to the small parking lot closest to the trail. We began our trek around 11:30 am and arrived back at our car around 4 pm.

From the very beginning of our hike it was incredibly icy. We saw a multitude of "tourists" attempting to climb the steep walkway leading to the Vernal Footbridge in nothing more than sneakers and other forms of unseasonable footwear. However, after this point we saw only three or four other groups of hikers on our way up Nevada Falls, all adequately prepared to take on the elements.

The initial staircase to the top of Vernal Falls wasn't too frozen over, until the very end, and that's when it became very slick. Luckily, my girlfriend and I were wearing our Yaktrax and that allowed us to maneuver our way up the stairs without issue.

Although neither one of the falls were gushing (as they do in the spring and summer) enough to give us the spray that The Mist Trail gets its namesake, it was probably for the best, as the vast majority of the trail was in the shade and I don't think it got above freezing. However, that didn't deter us from thoroughly enjoying this majestic hike with the stark contrast of sunshine reflecting off granite rocks against the fresh coat of snow on the shaded riverbank; which made for some magnificent photography opportunities!

This hike definitely lived up to the hype!

Short walk to the top. I like the views leading up the top more than at the top. It was a little cloudy the day we went, but still worth it.

Wonderful hiking trail! A bit challenging with the incline but worth every step. Spectacular view of the waterfall and Yosemite rock structure.

Amazing views!

Interesting trail. Got to see old faithful blow twice! So many interesting hot springs and geysers here.
