The lake is really really low. You can’t even see water until the back half of the trail and then it’s more of a swamp. The vegetation is still recovering from the fire. It was still a great hike to do!!

Great warm up trail for either hiking or trail running. 2 1/2 miles on and 2 1/2 miles out of very easy and moderate trail hiking. Allow three hours to complete the hike both in and back.

The burnt trees still remains, Dripping Cave trail closed. Winter time is good for me to hike this area because of the cool weather.

Everything was blocked couldn’t get anywhere.

Great place for a run. Lots of space interesting routes to take with a dog. No amazing views or points of interest so I’d say this is best if you need to exercise and just stroll with friends

Great little starter route for my daughter and I.

Time your trip well if you plan to go to the pools

Love It relaxing

Quite the walk to get to beach

Loved it beautiful

Nice place to stroll or ride your bike. The lake is pleasant and a nice escape from the busy highways and shopping malls that surround the OC. Has a park and frisbee spot for those who are interested.

Good hike. One little steep hill. Very easy

With 2 dogs, this is a beautiful flat stroll, you can make it more challenging by going left/south on the trail. Amazing views, not crowded at all which is hard to find anywhere with views:) highly recommend. Park on street, walk up the entrance and enjoy!

I love this trail

It’s easy and a very fun trail.

Great hike

Easy trail. You should go earlier than not because the tide gets high the closer to sunset you go! Awesome things to see :)

...another favorite...clean, with the option of walking along the ocean, if you want to get your feet wet and keep cool.

This is a very popular and scenic stroll around the "big" island as well as the "little" island that make up Balboa Island, all with views of the harbor and sand on one side, with boats and paddle boarders and other things to watch, and the homes on the other. In the summer, and on vacation weekends, it can be very crowded and only good for strolling, but lots of fun nevertheless. But on the off season or early mornings it is good for some beautiful power walking or running.

...nowhere to go...trail blocked...only walked about 1/2 mile...

Even with the dripping cave trail being closed, you have so many other trails to help that other .4 miles you are missing. Me and a friend ended up getting even more miles in which is even better! Best time to hike in this area is definitely during fall times. The leaves were so crunchy to walk around and I loved it.

Beautiful Oceanside trail

Great little out and back trail! Not completely flat, but not overly challenging, either. Terrain is very dry, but that's no surprise right now. Creek was flowing a little bit, nice to be able to walk along some water. Lots of available, free parking at the trailhead. Directions from All Trails are perfect. No restrooms or drinking water. Will definitely do this again when all I have time for is a quick, local hike.

11/11/18 Short trail to Dripping Cave is currently closed. Saw lots of deer, coyotes, and different birds.

Favorite run while visiting Newport Beach. Dirt trail, rolling hills, and partial coverage make this a fun, scenic, and comfortable run for those not afraid to tackle some steep inclines and declines.

I like this trail because of the challenging uphill segments and the cool ocean breeze. I like it even more now that I run into occasional hikers more frequently than I used to, so I don't feel like it is dangerous to go alone.

So pretty! The “hidden” beauty one can find here is amazing. Emerald water, ocean breezes, solitude and serenity.
