Great trail. Good loop around Lake Poway.

This trail is an extension to Cowl’s Mountain. Tough hike due to the incline. Definitely a good workout!

awesome views especially at the top will do it again after the rains stop in spring.

Due to time constraints didn’t get to the top/fun Boulder portion of it, but we will. The trail itself is kick butt. Straight up hill the whole time. Loved it! Nice scenery too. The trail begins at a gate that is closed to vehicles and it looks like it says private property but it’s clearly not. Once you climb over that little fence, foot prints and dogs foot prints galore!

one of my favorite hikes. great workout.

Great little hike!

This trail was nice with a mix of long flat stretches, and sweat worthy climbs to get to the top. I appreciated that it was pretty deserted, we only came across a couple people, so it was easy to enjoy the quiet of nature.

Good nature walk that keeps steep fast but a great view from the top. Crowded at beginning but empty by the end.

Sweet hike! The view at the end is awesome and is not crowded at all.

It’s ok but not that great hard to find which way to go trail everywhere no sign where does star we when around trying to find the flag .

Loved this. Fun, challenging trail with nice views along and from the top. Slid a few times, watch the loose rock!

A nice hike. The fine loose gravel made traction difficult at times, but it was not strenuous (I’m not in great shape, either). Gradual climbs and lots of flat trail areas. We were the only people out there except two people on horses.

This was a great hike. I’d definitely do it again. Got a bit lost climbing over the boulders but finally found the trail! Beautiful views and you definitely need to climb the rope to the cave.

This is a great hike close by in San Diego. It’s pretty steep and rocky so definitely wear hiking shoes or shoes with very good grips. I’d also recommend going on a cool day or very early as there is no shade at all. It’s easy to get confused where the right trail starts so be sure to go in towards the left where the power towers are.

it was awesome but a little busy and lots of bike riders

the start of the trail is crappy....because dog owners either let their dogs poop on the trail or leave the bags of poop behind. other than the start , it's a nice hike. great views of mountains and one particular house.

Lots of poop, but really nice i went to lake poway also super nice and a little to crowded

Did a New Years 2019 hike. Primitive trail, which is a plus in my book. No enhancements (no steps or fences). Remnants of a switchback on the lower half, now eroded and gully-washed. Traffic now ignores the switchbacks. A fairly strenuous hike up. Tricky footing coming down. Awesome views into Mexico, ocean, downtown, and El Capitan. Nice alternative to Cowels as it’s less crowded. Will do again.

Finally made it back with my fiancé! The first time I came up I was solo and didn’t want to risk trying to get up the ropes and into the cave without anyone else around - and I’m glad I didn’t.

We had a blast exploring together - and I highly recommend making sure you have an adventure buddy if you’re going all the way to the top and into the cave.

Like everyone else, we had a chilly and windy day at the top but the adventure was so worth it (even with socked in fog obstructing the view).

Took us less than 40’ to hike/run up the “fire road”, played at the top for an hour or so, and ran back down in about 25’.

One of my favorites, for sure!

Decent enough trail, be sure to go on a cloudy of chilly day, as there's literally no shade. Pretty steep in parts.Trail itself doesn't have too much to look at, but views are good.

Beautiful hike to Lake Ramona to start the year.off right. Cold and windy though.

Very nice hike! The way up was a workout! We came at the end of December, so we didn’t have much of a view at the top. It was also cloudy and raining so we weren’t able to get to the cave and rope. But I definitely recommend this hike!

Was great! There are two chairs cemented in to giant rock at the very end that are worth checking out. Great views from up there.. :)

Love this place!!!

Great hike this morning! Beautiful views! Steep hills that were a welcome challenge. We had a great time! As someone else mentioned, watch for dog poop.

Steep but moderate. Not too difficult if you’re somewhat experienced.

Nice hike with a good elevation gain. Go on a nice cool day as there is really no shade at all. Lots of plant life, crows, a few cottontail rabbits, etc. The switchbacks, once completed, will make this hike a much nicer one!

Great trail! Had my 20 month old on my back the whole time and it was great! Definitely could see how the heat would be too much in the summer, but I went in December so it wasn't too bad.
