Several small creeks to cross, and beautiful vistas as you climb to the top. The frozen lakes are amazing. The view at the top was incredible! This time of year, a lifted vehicle with chains highly recommended.

this is more of a road rating went up there just to drive more snow on the ground than expected but still had loads of fun highly recomend a lifted vehicle to get through all the way and dont go alone

Hiked it today, 1/5. I drove from Wilkerson and drove over the bridge, parked, then walked over the bridge to the trail head. You have to step over the guard rail to get to the trail. It’s a little steep going down but flat once you get down. I only hiked about 30 minutes because it started to get dark. The trail was pretty muddy but not too bad.

We enjoy Bresemann Forest.

So sad, when Pierce County Parks and Recreation Locked the Forest to the Public

Awesome place to take kids just be careful in some areas.

Good easy to little moderate hike with view of river and waterfalls. Waterfall was gushing with water. Enjoyed soaking in mist water at upper Lookout view point.

this waterfall is so powerful. A beautiful exhibit of nature.

Great day for a hike. Windy but not too muddy. Trail was not too crowded

Nice hike with a great view of the falls. Trails were muddy 2/3 in, but worth the walk. Pup enjoyed too.

After initial gravel, you could do this hike barefoot -- it was like walking on dry beach when we were there in late December. It gets steep toward the end as we ascended the highest dune on its spine, and then you can walk or slide down the even steeper face, which was a lot of fun. We were huffing a little on the way up, but I'd rate this moderate overall. Beautiful 360 view at the top.

This is an easy hike, but be prepared to use a cable with pegs for stability on the way down from the bridge. It's steep, but you don't need to be an experienced climber to deal with it. Look for the bullet hole-riddled speed limit sign to find the entrance.

As of 12/04, the trail itself is very muddy, so don't wear anything that you don't want to get dirty. The Melmont site is unremarkable: the buildings are long gone, but if you're lucky, you may meet some knowledgeable volunteers from the Foothills Rails-To-Trails Coalition who can tell you about the area's history.

If you don't want to talk with any volunteers, you can check out piercecountytrails.org for more information, both practical and historical.

You need to find a stone graffitied “falls” and veer off the main road to the left to find the yellow diamonds trail to upper and lower falls, goodluck! To enter the trail we went over a white hurdle, continues by the lake and up towards your right, immediate left turn to the “do not enter” (referring to vehicles) kind of tricky but WORTH IT!

Eating wild blackberries was the best part.

There was a lot of snow on road and one map said we were at trail. We decided to park and hike the road to trailhead. 2.5 miles we finally got to trail head. It was a pretty hike in the snow even on the road. It was getting dark so we decided wouldn’t have enough time to do the hike, with walking down road with the cars that still needed to come down. Snow was deep as we got higher. We had spikes so they helped walking the road.

It was a beautiful hike in the snow even though we didn’t make to trail.

Busy trail on a Sunday, but the views of the river and falls were well worth it.

The hike was not bad over all. Not very well marked on the trail which ways to go. There are several residents that live in the area. It wasn't muddy or too cold. The view of the waterfall wasn't too impressive as I had hoped.

Nice hike. Was not too muddy. Not totally sure that we found the right falls, but we found some. They did not look like a picture that was shown us when we wanted to confirm we were in the right track. There was much more to explore then we had time for, so we will definitely be going back.

on Twin Falls Trail

A good 3.7 mile hike round trip to the Twin and Upper Falls. The trail is well maintained and its a good workout as the trail is inclined for the most part. Be prepared for a number of steps. Good resting spots and a nice bridge to view the falls. I rated the trail 4* since there wasn’t anything too scenic or breathtaking sceneries at the end of the trail or on the way. Good workout and a refreshing break if you are looking for a quick drive from Seattle.

Very easy hike in, trail just a little slick in areas by the falls. Falls were gorgeous and very enjoyable to listen to.

beautiful, just very busy trail!

Awesome short hike. View from the top is amazing.

You: Bring light Ice cleats, and a camera.

Transportation: having decent ground clearance is not a must have but surely helps. I wouldn’t drive up there in a sedan, but people do it.

I went on 11/3/2018 with my husband, our 7 year old, 3 year old and a friend. You will need to drive over the bridge, park on the left hand side in that little area. Then walk back over and go over the guard rail, there will be a cable with pegs to help you down onto the trail. We had to pick up our kids and carry them down. The trail is very muddy, so I recommend boots instead of tennis shoes. There's a couple buildings and a car on the trail. There will be a fork where you can either go up or continue straight on the trail. If you go up there's an old schoolhouse. The bottom part of the trail, we ended up going off the path to the river. There's a little camping spot and then a little beach area where you can get a better view of the river. Overall it was a good hike. Very easy for kids and dogs after you get down from the bridge. This is also a trail for offloading vehicles so be aware. There were several dirt bikes that zoomed past us. **Also, be careful of certain people. There were a couple locals that were trying to get people away from the trail by telling them there were ruins of another town down the road. Several people including ourselves drove the directions they gave us and it lead to a dead end. Also, encountered some angry locals as well on another day that were at the bridge.

This is a great hike. I went yesterday with my husband, our 7 year old and 3 year old and a couple friends. The drive up is pretty rough for about 5-6 miles. You will need a vehicle with good ground clearance or take the drive up very slow. The trail was very Icey in some parts. We ended up busting our butts on the trail a couple times. If you are taking a little one this time of year, I recommend putting them in a hiking carrier. Beautiful views from the trail and definitely an incline on the way up. We were feeling the burn. Snow and ice on parts of the trail and at the top. The view of Summit Lake was beautiful. The lake is so clear. The hike was worth it just to see the scenic view from the overlook and to see the lake. It was breathtaking. This wasn't a very busy trail. We saw only a couple people during our hike an this was during the morning to afternoon.

High clearance and decent tires are your safest bet getting to the TH, I made it in my Chevy Cruze though, so make good judgment calls before heading to this trail. Beautiful day on the trail and amazing views at the lake and above! Compact snow is very icy!

A little busy but the view from the top was absolutely amazing! The trail was icy in several spots. Should have brought some light ice cleats but it was still doable.
