Took my dog to the main lookout today. Gorgeous views and sunset. Started the trail from Chuckanut Dr at 1:44 PM and back to the car at 5:20PM. I started little too late. It got so dark the last mile before the car. But I used my phone flashlight almost to the car before totally out of battery. 8 miles roundtrip with 1900 ft elevation gain. My little pup American Bully was such a trooper

One of my favorite trail running routes. If your a good swimmer, in the summer you can run this trail and swim across the lake and back after.

Great trail! So many beautiful sites. Great workout but, not too hard. Be sure to take the small off trails to the overlook and waterfall on the backside of the lake.

Walked up the Erie Mountain Drive to trail 26 and took it. Branched off at trail 216 to go to the Mount Erie lookout. Walked the road all the way back down. Round trip, it was 5.7 km. Nice short hike. I'd say the trail is maybe moderate in difficulty..? We didn't have any trouble with it. Views from the top were incredible. We hit it on a sunny day with low-lying cloud below the lookout - just gorgeous!

One of my favorite hikes in the area! Beautiful, well maintained trail with a sweet, woodsy fragrance that's impossible to describe. Linger at the lake for a swim & packed lunch.
Will be a little challenging for new hikers but on the easy side for stronger ones.

Awesome trail for hiking! Beautiful fall foliage. If you reverse the loop, it makes a doable trail run too. Love this trail!

Be prepared to climb up hill a lot! The view on top was amazing. If you’ve never been here bring a camera or phone to capture the moment. It has some distance to it as well so be realistic with your abilities before trying this hike. I loved every minute of it and would recommend this hike to anyone reading.

Quick but invigorating 2-hour hike with lots of Fall color on this late October day. Be sure to take the .2 mile hop out to the view point overlooking Bellingham Bay and the San Juan islands, and the .75 mile loop around the little lake. (This makes for a total distance 5 miles, up and back to the parking lot.) Enjoy a handful of pretty spots on the lake edge for snacks and the pretty view. A classic Bellingham hike with easy-moderate difficulty.

Hiked on Saturday 21s of Oct. Weather was perfect and hike was very colorful with fall foliage.

Lake was very pretty, with loop around entire lake. We were graced why the presence of a bald eagle in a tree on the west side of the lake, too.

Trail is in perfect condition. If you haven’t hiked the trail, you find the trail head in the Larrabee State Park lot, on the East side of Chuckanut drive, just south of the Larrabee State Park Campground. Even on a Saturday, the trail wasn’t heavily used. A few mountain bikers, possibly 6 other groups of hikers. .

nice little hike. ropes all over the place to get down closer to the water. getting back up was trouble for some in our party.

I love hitting this trail with my dogs. Gorgeous Autumn color painted the forests. Blue waters mirror the sky. It’s heaven for me

Great hike for kids! Beautiful loop aroudn the lake for kids to be able to run.

I've recently done this hike to these beautiful waterfalls both from the upper trail, and from the lower trail walking up the creek bed. Both ways are easy, with more climbing over rocks and downed logs if approaching from the lower section. The trail between the 2nd and 3rd Falls is very steep but has a rope is zig-zagging across the trail to hang onto. I did not see the rope to repel down to the second falls, because I did not risk getting close enough to the edge that it was visible. The waterfalls are definitely worth the short hike. people were swimming in the water both in August and September.

4 start just because no sign for this trail the JBS help us to found it

Great workout, prepare to climb, climb, climb! I love this one for the ease of accessibility and crowds. I would definitely feel safe hiking this one alone and it’s also a great hike to bring out of town visitors on as it’s challenging and yet still doable, and has great payoff with beautiful views.

Nice little trail for hiking, and running. Very beautiful. Would be a pretty nice for mountain biking but they are not aloud.

Love this hike, definitely a climb but so worth the view. Got up early and did it at sunrise, there was still a layer of fog on the water and the ship-man it made for a beautiful hike. It’s a challenge but a goody. Parking is limited so I recommend getting there early!

Really great trail that doesn't take all day. Perfect level for people just strarting to hike and arent in perfect shape. The entire trail is in the shade and is just beautiful. Takes just over an hour walking.

Nice hike to a nice lake that’s perfect for swimming!

apparently the 3.6mile hike to the top was under construction or some sort so had to take the detour... took us around 7.5 hours out and back... beautiful scene at top but very tiring. the trail wasn't too difficult overall except for the last 20 min to the top due lots of rocks

great training hike.
From Chuckanut it is much more difficult than from the upper parking lot or from the parking lot at barrel springs road.
great view from the top.

Uphill but paths are nicely maintained. It takes about 30 minutes to get from the parking lot to the Sugarloaf viewpoint.

moderate 2.2 miles up with a few spots to swim. water is warm. mosquitos are out. if you find a gray lululemon ballcap, you can keep it :)

Beautiful hike. Accessible for our 6 and 4 y.o. boys. Our only regret was that the pond is not accessible from the trail.

very easy, but slightly steep going up. bring your bathing suits...saw many people enjoying the lake.
