To get to the trailhead you have to drive about 7 miles on a dusty gravel road. There is a unorganized parking lot and another over flow one a little bit down the road. We parked in the second one and walked back on the road. There are no signs for the Wave Cave Trail. So we just asked someone before starting. The beginning of the trail is hard to see where the actual trail is. The end of the trail is defiantly the most difficult. You will need both hands and feet. There are some spots with loose gravel on top or rock. I would consider taking traction covers for my shoes next time. Once we got to the top there were like 10 kids running around creating tons of dust! We did not even want to pull the camera out because of the dust. Eventually they left and we were able to get some good pictures. On the way down nearly all the kids were crying or complaining. Not a hike for kids.

Wow! Well worth the effort to get up to the Wave!

I'm not an avid hiker... so it was a little too strenuous for my taste. I was hoping the view from the top would make it worth the effort, but maybe my expectations were set a little too high, because it was good, but not spectacular.

Amazing hike. Switch backed over steams then ponds of water. Rock climbing. Kiddos loved it. I would rate this as a harder hike, more difficult thru some areas. Some slippery rocks. The hike was totally worth it, when you get to the top it is priceless!!

Great day hike!
Go on a week day to avoid the masses

Great hike, but get their early. Limited parking and the trail gets crowded, particularly near the top. Last section is rocky and basically one way. Have to wait at several location for traffic to clear. Also have to wait for pics of the bridge. Everyone seems to want individual pic of friends/family atop the arch.

great trail. a little hard for 1st timers to find the "right" trail but once there it's a fun and exhausting climb. well worth the effort up.

This is definitely one of my top favorite hikes in this area! The views are really wonderful and the terrain switches up a lot to keep things interesting. I took my two dogs who are very used to hiking and they started to get a little tired towards the last mile coming back. We went on New Year's Day so by the time we were descending it was very crowded but I am not sure if it is because it was a holiday. Driving up, there is a long stretch of dirt that is a bit rocky so I would recommend going slow or taking a larger vehicle. By the time we were driving off, the parking lot was completely full and people were parking pretty far down the road. All in all it took us a bit less than 3 hours going at a leisurely pace with a 20 minute break for food at the halfway point.

The hike is steep in certain parts, especially towards the top. It's pretty gravelly/rocky; wear hiking boots if you have them and it will help on the way down. The cave had an awesome view!

What a great way to spend my morning! The hike part was very nice. The last part before you make it to the cave is a little challenging but very do able. If ever need a morning to see this beautiful desert we live in ... the view from the cave was way worth the hike! Pack snacks and make sure to have water.

It was an amazing experience to be there and see such a beautiful place! It was a lot of fun to do the hike, it wasn’t too hard!!

Absolutely beautiful hike. Definitely a good workout. I’d say it’s on the harder side of moderate because of all the rocks. Lots of people recommend looking back, definitely do so! Breathtaking views as you get higher and higher on the mountain.

We hiked it during a rainstorm, which made it a bit more difficult to maneuver, but we started early and there were less than 10 people at the bridge when we arrived. No wait for pictures, and the fog and mist in the background made the view even more spectacular!

Great hike not too hard, waited to take pics but worth it!!!

Beautiful and easy walk. LONG wait to get on the bridge. Over 45 minutes so we didn’t get on it. But the views are spectacular from the top. It is crowded, however.

Great hike! But many traffic near the bridge. An hour wait to take pictures on the bridge, but worth the wait!

Casual, heavily-trafficked trail that gets more strenuous as the trail gets steeper and narrower. There's a line at the top for the photo op if you enjoy people watching.

Absolutely gorgeous, moderate difficulty with lots of people. The sights are breathtaking.

Great views from top. Challenging hike, but worth it.

This trail was great. It wasn’t easy, I’d say more moderate ! A lot of stair like steps to get to the top. Some people seemed to struggle in those areas. Once our group got to the top it was beautiful. We waited in line to get a picture perfect photo. Definitely going again and taking my dog!!!

Didn't like walking along a dirt road that the Jeep's and other off road vehicles also used. It was about a third of the hike. Had to stop and let them pass often. Crowds on a Monday! Had to wait in line (yes you read that right) to get pic on top of Devil's bridge. Beautiful but not a fan of all the people. Kinda knew that going in, didn't think it would be quite that much though. Still a must do if you're in Sedona.

Loved it, not a lot of people around. Will definitely do this again.

Pretty easy hike . The last .5 miles were pretty steep rocky climb . The bridge was pretty amazing. The surrounding mountains ⛰ were spectacular

As always I love this trail. Was trying to find the wave cave, but our map wouldn’t load to get it so we opted for this hike! My dog Clark did well, but I’d say make sure you pup is ready for a tough one before you go!

Hard! Okay so originally we were gonna do the Boulder Canyon hike, which is 4.8 miles. But we couldn't find that. We could only find Boulder Canyon TRAIL, which is much longer. So we hiked this one, and since we didn't know we were going on such a long hike, we actually only went about 2.5 miles in. It goes up and down, up and down, so it's hard the whole time! Fun but challenging. I love how you can see Canyon Lake from the top!

This is so far my favorite hike since I moved to AZ (granted I’ve only done a handful). I did it in the afternoon and it wasn’t as hot or as crowed as advertised, so overall a great experience. For the most part it was shaded.
The trail is very easy to follow and a smooth up to the saddle and smooth down again (the elevation “shape” that I like the most). The views are amazing almost all the way!

I would call this difficult, not moderate. There are portions you are climbing over small boulders and the incline is INTENSE. Our large dog came with and did great but smaller dogs might need help. Had to stop and rest 5 or 6 times on the second half going up. Definitely a good challenge but I wouldn't attempt this if you are out of shape!

LOVE this trail! It's long and somewhat challenging with the ever present incline. The scenery was amazing. The trail was very dog friendly. Definitely worth going all the way to Massacre Rock. The trail does get pretty narrow in places and a little steep here and there but nothing above a moderate rating. We did lose the trail once and got started down a different trail going the wrong direction so use your map if you can. There were many places where the trail would split and meet again on the other side of a rock. Bring lots of water and sunscreen. We did not see any waterfalls but could tell where there would be waterfalls if there had been heavy rain. Everyone we met on the trail seemed very friendly. Definitely plan to go back.

good trail, rigorous hike
