Great hike! Easy trail. Lots of beautiful cascades. Make sure to take a camera. Nice foot bridge at one crossing. Second crossing is rock hopping. If you're adventurous go up the hill to the right of the falls. There is a small path following the river. Lots of water crossings, a little rock climbing and you will find a two tiered falls in a small canyon. Well worth the extra hike. It is a rough hike to these second falls, not for the feint of heart. Hard core waterfallers hike on.

Probably the most beautiful trail in the area! I went three days ago and the trail was lined with gorgeous wildflowers, mossy rocks, and all the while you can gear and see the stream along your route. The trail does get very rocky in places and has a few stream crossings but nothing too difficult. The trail ends in a canyon with the waterfall cascading down to a pool. My dog loved swimming there, and it's an absolutely breathtaking spot.

Beautiful hike with a rewarding waterfall at the end!

I love this trail. I’ve hiked it in all seasons of the year. I don’t recommend it during icy/snowy weather because your hike on rocks can be pretty slick at times. There is a small water crossing, but there are rocks placed across that are almost always above the surface. There are multiple mini falls along the trail as well as the large one. There’s also a couple steep trails on either side of the main waterfall you can climb up.

Trails are wide and clean. Beautiful location.

Great short trail. Nice 90 ft waterfall at the end. I hiked it with two pregnant women

We accessed the trail head by the rainbow falls parking area. Road was closed so we had to hike to the trail head. There are two options to get to the trail head. First option is to take the paved road all the way to the Grotto falls trail head, Good incline the whole way with a couple of stop points to look at the view of the mountains. Second option is about half mile in you will see a sign for Trillium gap trail. Go right in the woods then left up the hill. This is a much better hike but harder. It follows the paved path but much closer to nature in my opinion.

We saw three bear, a bob cat and a deer almost ran into us on the trail. The Grotto falls trail was busy and it was busy at the falls. Total trip was around 5 miles with the road being closed. Worth it to walk behind the falls.

We took the pavement path back.

A well-manicured and often over-populated trail to a stepped falls. Not as impactful as High Falls, but a nice easy hike for families. Go early in the day or late to avoid the masses.

Rainbow and Turtleback are gorgeous. lots of stair climbing and elevation changes (103 floors per my fitbit) but its all worth it. My 8 year old and I enjoyed the trail, waterfalls and all the cool spots to walk out on the rocks in the river.

Great hike to start the day! We parked and started at the Rainbow Falls trailhead and hiked up along the Trillium Gap Trail due to the road being closed. This added a couple of extra miles to the total hike. The trail was heavily trafficked; the only thing to watch out for are the roots and rocks. Would recommend sturdy shoes. The Falls were flowing beautifully due to the recent rainfall.

Fairly short trail but with a nice payoff at the end. The falls at the end are truly impressive and worth the hike. You are on a gravel road for about 0.75 miles and then another 0.7 to the falls. Kind of rocky at the end, so not good for folks with poor shoes or mobility issues. You are beside a roaring creek most of the way, so that makes for a lovely sound. You have to make one creek crossing, so if the water is running high, you may have to get a little wet to get across. We had no trouble crossing, and it had rained two days before.

Very kid/ family friendly to the bottom of the falls. Hike up to the top is pretty difficult, but definitely worth it.

Easy trail up to the cascades. Last 1/2 mile to the upper falls is killer but well worth the effort!

Great little hike. Had to start at Rainbow Falls and do Trillium Gap to Grotto as Roaring Trail is closed for the winter. What’s a few extra miles lol. There’s been so much rain lately the falls are pretty and going behind them is pretty cool!

Nice trail, lots of up hill & steps, but pretty waterfalls at the end. ~4 miles, 1.5 hours

We hiked this on 3/16, so had to start at the rainbow falls trailhead. This added a couple of miles to the hike, but they were fairly easy. We encountered a lot of mud on the last 1.5 miles. We saw more than one group heading out to the trail wearing white sneakers. Needless to say those shoes weren't going to stay white for long. Views along the trail are limited, but the falls at the end are a sight to behold.

Had a fantastic time here. We hiked all the way to the end of the trail seeing all 3 waterfalls. It was Thursday so very few people were on the trail. Had lunch at the top if rainbow falls. It was an amazing view.

Loads of fun with three young kids. Wading, running, skipping rocks, hiking, lots of inspiration for imaginative play... oh and hiking! Stream was chilly but the kids left soaked and muddy. Would love to come back and picnic when it’s hot.

Nice trail. Not too strenuous. Tracked it at 6 miles total. There were plenty of children doing this trail with no problem. There are places where I would not have a dog with no leash. The views at the end are well worth the trip.

Our first hike on this trail. The waterfall is beautiful and worth the hike.

Very gratifying hike. We started at rainbow falls trailhead so the trip was a bit longer. VERY MUDDY. 3-6 creeks to walk through depending where you start.

Had to climb over a few fallen trees at one point but a beautiful waterfall at the end you could walk behind. Not too crowded. Icicles fall from the top of the waterfall so be careful!

Very worth it and would do this hike again.

Beautiful river views along the trail, with many short diversion trails leading to really nice spots along the way. As others have stated, the trail is wide and can be very crowded on a pretty day. But the trail surface is natural, somewhat muddy in places, and an overall nice hike. The falls are beautiful and a look a bit different from every angle. There's also a steep trail up the right side of the falls (muddy, rocky, and slippery with ropes added for stability) that will take the more adventurous to the top, or almost there. Plenty of places for a cautious person to step out on the falls for great views and photos. Obviously popular destination and not a private afternoon by any means but well worthwhile.

This was a pretty cool hike. We went in March of 2018, so the road to get to the trailhead was closed for the season. But you can easily park at the rainbow falls trailhead and walk the rest of the way. It’s 2.0 miles to the trailhead and the trail itself is 1.4 miles long. The terrain of the trail was pretty rocky and rooty. We left out at about ten in the morning and didn’t encounter anyone on the way there, but encountered 3 or 4 groups on the way back. Once we got there, there were some nice photo ops from behind the waterfall.

Absolutely breath taking! Very easy and short hike to get to the falls. You can sit on the rocks at the second level and enjoy the view. Would highly recommend!

Nice view of River all along the one mile from parking to falls. Lots of people on trail this beautiful Sunday afternoon!

This hike is a hidden gem. Top notch photography location. Hike gets a little rough toward main falls. Lots of loose rock. Wear good boots.

First time hiking out here and enjoyed it a lot. It may have been raining, not too hard but enough to keep us wet but well worth it.

This is a great little trail that really comes alive in heavy rain seasons. Water features are awesome and great spot for photography in many areas.
