Took the AT approach trail to walk the steps up. The steps are not for the faint of heart. The views of the falls on the way up are great. And at the top is awesome. Took the East trail on the way back down. Very rocky at the top. Watch your footing so as to not roll an ankle. The trail itself is nice, wooded.

A must if you in the area. Multiple waterfalls and campsites along the route. Well maintained

This is our new favorite waterfall trail. Several beautiful falls before the big one. Can’t believe how this little creek makes such huge noisy falls. Trail is easy, did some rock hopping to get up to see the falls come through the cliff. Didn’t climb to the top, that looked very steep and treacherous. Started around 10, lots of parking spaces. Finished around 1. Parking was scarce.

Had a great day. Beautiful scenery. Will do again in the near future.

Definitely worth the hike! The bamboo forest was the best reward at the end!

I would classify this trail as "easy" rather than "moderate." The payoff at the falls is nice, but large stretches of the trail system are devoted to mountain biking, making for lots of long switchbacks, which aren't really hiker-friendly.

I loved the views on this trail. It was a bit rooty but not bad. I am new to hiking and did the trail with ease. To get the cave with waterfall tho is a boulder climb which may be where you turn around! The bathrooms tho were horrid I held it the entire time because of how bad they were.

Super fun getaway from the city! We’re still searching for the bamboo forest.

My family and I had a great time on this beautiful hike. We love hiking near water and this hike follows the creek more than 90% of the time. My daughters are 6 and 7 and pretty experienced hikers already. This was an easy hike for them and our 2 dog (Vizsla & Yorkie).

Beautiful hike! Did this with my sons last weekend. It was cloud and overcast, so we stayed cool. The falls are a great payoff. I don't recommend climbing to the top of the cliff, it has gotten very dangerous since my last visit a few years ago.

gorgeous waterfall!, took creek trail up and and it wasn't a bad hike at all. going down we went down east ridge trail which was pretty sketchy. lots of loose rocks and erosion. I would def do this again...

One of my favorite hikes now. The entire hike you’re hiking along a beautiful creek and the incline is easy/moderate until you get to the cliff-which is a very steep and slightly treacherous climb rather than hike but the views to see the waterfall and top of cliff are more than worth it

Always have enjoyed this hike. Preachers Rock has wonderful views, and because of that can be crowded. Don’t let it scare you though, it’s worth it.

Great hike! This is one of those hikes where the journey is a enjoyable as the destination...pretty woods, creek crossings, we took our dogs and they loved it as well.

Great hike! I would rate most of the trail easy and very pet/kid friendly. Many photo opportunities of the beautiful waterfalls.
if you want to climb to the top of the falls it is very steep and I would rate it as strenuous.

Awesome trail! Steps were a good workout. Beautiful views of the falls. Not that crowded of a trail. Very rocky in some places so watch your step!

Trail starting behind the visitors center to the falls is the best direction to take due to the condition of the trail and rocks.

My favorite trail!!!

Beautiful hike with fall color and lots of photo opportunities. Don’t know that I’d rate it as moderate. More like an easy hike. Only a few ups and downs. Passed lots of kids and dogs. Lots of falls along the way. Lots of places to stop and have a picnic. Fall was running heavy after recent rains.

So many different trail options and you feel like you’re out of the city.

This was a beautiful trail but 3 miles of the trail is nonexistent due to downed trees and lack of upkeep. Thed trail across the road from parking has the most beautiful scenery and most waterfalls. Looks like they are cleaning up the back part of the trail, but highly recommend going at least once.

Absolutely beautiful hike and the waterfalls really nice to hear along the way. The leaves were falling and the contrast of colors were so nice. Loved this trail so much!

Wonderful trail! Follows a creek the whole way, so you get interesting scenery around every bend and the constant, calming sound of babbling water. Plus, there's plenty of places to stop, splash in the creek, or just set awhile and relax. Saw a lot of people camping along the trail.

The waterfall at the end was unique, but kind of a let down. But I didn't mind because the hike there and back was fantastic! This was a fairly crowded trail, so recommend going on a weekday if you can. My dog loved it, with plenty of shade and water to splash in so she stayed cool despite the summer heat.

Really nice section of the AT. Hike up to Preachers is nice, view at the top is great! I went past Preachers and down to the Dockery lake trail. Out and back about 6 miles. Don’t miss the other overlook past Preachers.

This trail is perfect for all ages! Easy hike in. Just watch out for tree roots. Very unique waterfall. Never seen anything like it. I always wondered what it was like bc of the pictures. This is one you need to see for yourself. The water was flowing real good after Friday’s rain. The fall leaves on the ground made the perfect setting for a beautiful hike!

Loved this trail. Parked at the visitors center and took the trail behind it, up to the top of the falls. It was a very steep climb and very rocky in some parts. There were a couple of lookout points along the way that offered spectacular views of the surrounding area. You can’t see the falls from the top, so we decided to take the hundreds of steps down to the base. The stairs wrap around the falls and the view gets better as you go down. There are many spots to stop and rest or take pics. The stairs can be a bit daunting for someone who has a fear of heights, such as myself. However, it was absolutely worth it! Once at the bottom, we walked back to the parking lot. The signage was not the best and we ended up street walking for a good portion. There were some trails marked, but we weren’t sure where they would end. Overall, Im so glad that we visited.

I absolutely loved this trail! We did it at dusk, which was probably a bad choice considering how steep it is, but it was lovely anyways. Plus we got to catch the sunset. Other reviewers are right about the stairs. They can be brutal. But the views are so, so worth it.
