My first day of training for the Mount Marathon race in Seward AK! I am using Dog Mtn as my training mountain since its the only thing that comes remotely close to the race- which is 3022 feel climb in 1.22 miles- YIKES! Got to the top and down in 1 hr 35 minutes! Its always so awesome seeing so many people getting up this mountain! Gorgeous views and snow at the top!

Great hike! Don't bring your dog unless they're in good shape, ours barely made it down! Apparently we net to get her on a treadmill lol. Fantastic views at the top, definitely a challenge with a ton of steep inclines, the lookout point halfway up was a lifesaver

Beautiful view of the falls but trails are closed I heard till April. Sad I didn’t get to do the hike!

Amazing views. I enjoy the 'difficult' trail more than 'more difficult'. There is still snow at the top so wear good shoes and be prepared. Love this one!

Forever a favorite hike of mine. I love the intensity and the peacefulness at the summit. I seem to always do this hike when I need a reminder to be grateful for the little things. Gorgeous weather today and so many friendly faces!

My all time favorite hike. But it has gotten so crowded in recent years. I visited here just weeks before the fire closed it in 2017.

Very sad. But can’t wait for it to reopen.

Fantastic hike, gorgeous in every way, waterfalls, lush greenery, flowers, mushrooms, moss, all that's missing are the little fairies :) Took us about 5-6 hrs, just what we needed.

does anyone know someone to contact for a reopen date of this trail?

Its closed and fenced, but you can still see the waterfall

Miss this place

my very first trail in Oregon

Great hike. If taking dogs be warned ticks are out in full force. Pulled about 20 ticks off my two dogs and they are regularly treated. Super windy and cold at top but views were amazing like always.

My heels never touched the ground.... be prepared to sweat! Awesome!

Loved this hike. It did have some steep inclines but nothing I couldn’t do, I did end up getting a stick to help my legs. Once we got to the very top we had amazing views but unfortunately the wind was blowing so hard and it was making us so cold we couldn’t stay for long. Coming back down wasn’t as challenging as I expected but it did wear on my knees. Next time I will at least have a snack at the top to fuel my descend.

Be sure to bring a jacket, gloves and something to cover your ears the wind was crazy cold.

Oh and it was a beautiful February day with no rain and the sun was shining

Loved it.

Just a few grass widows but views wonderful. Had not done the loop before, enjoyed it.

This is my favorite trail!

I can’t wait for this trail to open again!

When we went, there were a lot of people there so it was impossible to get a photo without others in them. Very beautiful though

Get up there early or you'll feel like your on the I-5 during rush hour... Otherwise it's a pretty decent view from the top which, after so many times I try not to take for granted.

This was my first more serious day hike, my only downfall was being the first person up there in the morning... So many cobwebs to walk through....

The trail was closed due for safety concerns so we weren’t able to go past the gift shop. Hopefully it opens again soon but it wasn’t worth the drive to see the falls through a chained gate at the bottom of the trail.

quick and easy trail that was extremely crowded when I went. parking was also difficult.

Hiked this trail on July 2017. Unfortunately we could not get to the tunnel falls trail due to the fires. Anyways it didnt matter since the trail is so beautiful and there is so much to see. We stopped and had lunch on a little cave by the punch bowel falls and it was magic. The path does get narrow, sometimes wet. Be mindful that you will walk alongside of a cliff but it is doable. A tree branch will definitely help.

Main viewpoint is closed due to fire damage

is it closed?when will be open?

We only visited the lower part of this trail because we were on our way to Multnomah falls and made a quick pit stop. The waterfall is strong and powerful and if it's windy you'll definitely get some mist on you. It's a very nice area to stop and look at scenery and to hike if you're aiming for this hike. There's a huge pond at the bottom of the waterfall that you can walk down to but don't expect to not get wet!

A little icy towards the top but not too bad. A little rime on the weeds and trees but not enough to make any worthwhile photos; maybe next week! Still a good workout though.
