trail running

Good mid range trail, but for a beginner trail runner, like myself, it is a doozy, especially for first 2+ miles. Be ready for a workout. My only gripe is the trail is poorly marked later in the loop as there are many junctions and I spent a lot of time guessing wrong. I would go to my AllTrail app but it was having it's issues (or at least my GPS was.)

Great work out. Watch out for some areas of lose gravel. So many trails out here I love it.

Nice hike right in the town of Lakeside. Great workout with good views of lakeside and Santee

Come prepared to hike a very steep mountain toward the summit appropriate Hiking shoes required. View worth the hike.

Great hike! Beautiful trails trees and vines are awesome. Multiple trails lots of fun. If your gonna go for the Stelzer trail make sure you have proper shoes because it is super steep! So fun and the awesome rocks and summit view are worth hiking your butt up that Mtn. Have fun!

Great trail. Cool off in the pool. Take lots of water!

I have hike this trail many times it’s always a pleasure. Very peaceful and every so often you’ll see some wildlife. Mission Trails Park is beautiful.

Fun, but no water even after heavy rain fall.

Me and my son did this hike two weeks ago and we really like it the only thing that there was no water but it was breezy and nice, no rope though we were looking forward to use the rope but we did have fun!

Good trail run for being in the city.

first hike of our season. It's a burner. I'm way out of shape and this trail prove it. It's great in the am hours.

I loved the first part of this trail. Lots of pretty old oak trees and some fun, easy scrambling opportunities, especially at the peaks. After the peaks, however, the trail turned into an obnoxious dirt service road with steep ups and downs. At times it ran near the freeway and under humming power lines. I would suggest taking a right when the trail forks and looping around to the left. That way you can get the ugly parts out of the way first, and take the steepest parts going uphill (rather than sliding down them on your bum...)

Really fun, and short. I usually go on longer more nature hikes but this was a good experience because of the nooks and crannies you climb through. I would definitely do it again, and if you are looking for a hike in the San Diego area this is a good one to consider!

It is about 30 minutes of rough dirt road to get to the trail point. The hike itself fun, there is a point where it gets very steep going down and there are ropes to hold onto but can be very slow as it is a very crowded hike. Luckily the falls had plenty of water flow so I was able to slide down. Heading back is tough and there is not much shade on this hike so be prepared to deal with the sun.

Great trail if you like it as a good 30 minute exercise. Took my 6 month Shepard and he was tired at the end! Trail is a bit confusing but I followed recordings of others and it worked out great! New favorite routine

Went on this hike with my girlfriends. started a little after 6am and finished by 8:20am. This hike was not difficult at all for me but I can see how it could be for others. unfortunately there was no water at this time of the year so we decided to come back after it rains a few times. If hiking after 9am I definitely recommend bringing at least 4 bottles of water!

This is a beautifully maintained park with a small visitor center. There is a $3 parking fee, and although posted hours begin at 9:30am, we pulled into the lot before 8am and self-paid.

The lower elevation loop is a nice, easy walk through various mini ecosystems. Traffic noise is a bit of a distraction. The summit trail is very steep for the last 0.25 miles. Wear good shoes and consider hiking poles. Great views from the top, and you leave the noise of cars behind.

On our early Saturday morning visit, we ran into exactly 2 other hikers, who were very friendly.

Trails are very clean. We saw evidence of coyotes and raccoons, and saw a rabbit, several song birds, and 2 different species of lizard.

What’s missing in these photos is TONS OF PEOPLE! Usually there are 50 to 100 people hanging out, swimming and cliff jumping. Super fun place to hang out.

When in SD with my sister, we completed this trail with her Ex. It was amazing! All I remember was it was hard because I didn’t have the proper foot ware from packing lite due to a cross county road trip. The terrain was rocky and steep incline. But the view was worth the ankle rolls. I remember the Rick formations and crossing the fence - Not sure why those things stick out in my mind but they do lol! Go here if and when in SD! I always try to do a hike when traveling and so far I’ve been successful!

Great hike. The trail changed. Last visited three sisters a few years ago. There used to be a little bit of sliding on your back to get down to the falls and then some rope climbing involved to go back up. None of that is there now. Just a well defined trail with lots of markers to keep hikers on track. We have a parking lot now. Was a little disappointed that there wasn't any water...so no falls during this visit but that is to be expected during this time of the year (it's early September). But all in all it was still a good hike.

This was a great hike - waterfalls are non-existent at the end of a hot, dry summer, but it was a beautiful hike nonetheless. Little shade on the trail. We had 50 ounces of water per person and this was sufficient. You don't need a map to navigate this trail, but near the beginning of the hike you will come to a fork in the road and an unmarked post where you need to turn left. Near the end you will start to see pink ribbons guiding you over a rocky portion of the trail. Very helpful!

Really good hiking place and beautiful scenery

Definitely enjoyed this hike. There are many trails that are not well marked and it can be confusing at points. I must be directionally challenged because I took a wrong turn and added an extra 1.5 miles to my hike. Coolest part is the stair climb.

Beautiful and serene. Really enjoyed the hike but a few spots on the trail can be a bit steep. Overall beautiful and lovely.

fun and challenging ascent. gets really hot with minimal shade so pack plenty of water

Rock climbers loops was amazing as well as thrilling. Perfect if you're trying to increase your endurance. Wonderful park, with a hike for any age group.

Quite an intense hike. Great for beginners. Rock climbing is an add-on feature of the hike.

Coming down is harder than getting to the top. Recommend completing north, saddle and south in one shot.
