Completed this hike with the venture of seeing a waterfall! There are several midway through the trail that make you think it is the end, but the trail keeps going and the climbing gets more intense as you go up. There are many places where you have to use your resources to get up and noticed several people starting to go back at this point. It’s slippery and muddy. Best to wear waterproof holding boots or cascades so you have some traction. My friend ended up falling 6 foot from one of the big boulders trying to slide around a slick area as we were coming down. Thank god she is just bruised, but be mindful that this path isn’t just a typical hiking trail. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get out before dark as well. Due to her fall and gathering our bearings, we were exiting in the dark and not properly prepared with lights and so forth. Nothing to guide you out but sounds! Hands down amazing though! Enjoyed every second!!

Did this hike Monday January 21, 2019

hard hike if your taking the poopout/punkout trail, but doable dont get discouraged and dont look up just keep going you will reach the top sooner. straight up hike lots of loose gravel if going when dirt is dry.

Excellent after a rain, especially for the full experience at the falls, but be aware that it makes it super muddy and you'll have to cross the creek several times - bring waterproof hiking boots to protect against the water and all the rock climbing you're going to have to do. Lots of dogs on the trails, both big and small, but I saw plenty of dogs of all sizes who needed to be carried through some parts, so keep that in mind when you bring your pooch! The hike itself is GREAT - one of the best in OC! though because it's so popular it gets super packed.

Fairly well kept trail with moderate hills. Good hike to do early morning or evening; would definitely do again.

Beautiful waterfall at the end of a great hike! The first half is a flat walk, and the second half you’ll be climbing over boulders and rocks as you follow a stream to the waterfall. Super fun!

This is a good beginners hike. Basically, you follow a road up a gradual ascent to the summit. It would also be good for trail runners or mountain bikers. There is a faster and steeper way up after approximately 2 1/2 miles on the trail. I’ll post it in a pic. It’s not marked and I wasn’t sure it would take you to the top so I stayed on the road and took it on the way down. It’ll save you 3/4 of a mile.

The surrounding area is beautiful as you see Baldy and other peaks throughout the hike. It was 3.7 miles up & 2.9 miles down totaling 6.6 miles round trip.

Very fun trail especially after a rain. Although it gets crowded later in the morning, there are lots of paths to take to avoid the traffic jams on the trail. I think the trail continues on after the first major waterfall

This was a cool mid day hike. Bit of a cold breeze but you are exposed to the sun for a majority of the hike which kept my fiancé and I warm. Wasn’t expecting to see so much water during the hike to the falls so I guess I have the week long spurt of rain to thank for that. The waterfall was pumping and made for some great photos! I’ll upload one here but you can check em out on my IG: ShotzByPonz Anyways it was definitely worth it but be prepared to watch where you are stepping with the amount of rocks and glass on the ground if you are bringing a pet. We will for sure be coming back after the next rain storm!

With views to Catalina and beyond on a clear day, Sunset Peak is a good, moderate hike of 7-8 miles. Good, shady trail most of the way up.

Good trail there’s parking as you come in and also past that up the road a bit. Keep hiking up the trail and you can see it just off to the right

Because of the recent rain the waterfall was flowing. All uphill from parking lot to waterfall. It's definitely a medium difficulty hike going up. Very pretty views all around. No shade going up but there is shade at the waterfall. Limited parking

The trail was awesome! It rained all last week so there was lots of water in the creek and falls. The water made it a bit tricky, but it was worth it to see a waterfall in this area. Glad I wore waterproof hiking shoes.

This is a pretty easy hike it is kid friendly as well as dog friendly! It is super pretty has soo many tall trees as well as a river flowing down! Did get a little lost trying to find the heart but eventually found it when I saw a heart drawing with an arrow drawn on the dirt pointing to the direction! It was super fun definitely going back during summer to maybe get in the water!

Pretty difficult hike for clumsier people. There Are a lot of rocks to climb and jump off. If you’re shorter that may present a difficulty. The trail meanders a lot so it seems like you’re jumping from side to side a lot. You will have to eventually get your feet wet so plan accordingly. Don’t forget your socks like I did -_- came 3 days after the heavy rains we got on 1/15/19. Mud is still really slippery, and the rocks themselves are slippery too. Saw a lot of dogs so it is dog friendly. Be prepared for a long hike it took about 4 hours round trip.

Sunday 1/20/19 8.45a-11a. 75% shaded. Fire road with easy-moderate steady climb. views of snowy peaks and Catalina. a bit monotonous by the end. not too many folks.

Great easy trail

Easy trail to follow. Was pretty slippery and muddy when we got down into the falls entrance. People were friendly. Trail was clean. Would do it again. Easy one for the dog too. :)

Watch out for horse poop! Was not too busy and the people that were there were friendly. Pretty view of the city. Would do it again. Easy hike and the dog handled it well. :)

Definately a place to check off the list & a unique site as the 2nd tallest waterfall in the NF, but go with expectations. This is NOT a hiker's hike. You will encounter grafitti, trash, sewage, loud human noises, partiers & the trail inexperienced (read: don't know trail ettiquette). While it's rated moderate for the rocks & a short hill, it's fairly easy. Kids & small dogs could make it.

Great trail to run!

I like it medium hard

Would give this a 3.5 if I could. The view and scenery were just okay and you followed a path that was close to the road, which I am never a fan of. If you’re looking for a workout, this hike is 5 stars. You start off hard and don’t stop as you move along from the poop out to the punk. Serious incline the whole way. Following the other trails down is highly recommended as I feel like it would be too steep to descend. The trail entrance to poop out is a little difficult to find, but is right at the corner of where you turn into the park and the main road.

The San Dimas Ave access was still CLOSED on January 10.

We took the poop out trail up and mystic canyon down. The first mile is petty intense but doable.
