Decent trail/path, but very busy in a number of ways -- not always courteous bikers, pot-heads near the park, city walkers taking up the whole path, and the busy road along side. So, it sort-of suffers from being too close to a city, but nice enough to get a little outside.

Probably the best shaded hike I’ve ever done!!

beautiful hike, but always very crowded. went with a horticulturist and learned a lot about the various medicinal native plants.

hiked this a couple years ago and remember really enjoying it. the scramble at the end of difficult if you're not comfortable with this kind of terrain. saw lots of people and dogs. I found it a tough trail to hike with a leashed dog. beautiful views!

great hike. took the kids 3&5. I would say this is a moderate hike only if you are doing the final climb to see the cave entrance.

Great hike! 'Moderate' rating is appropriate. Signs and trails can make it a little confusing at the beginning, so following the mesa trail signs not the ncar trail signs. It's a pretty steep hike in general. 2.4 miles OUT and 2.4 miles BACK. Last 100' was too steep for our group of 2nd graders. Beautiful views amongst the flatirons. Still worth going even though we could see the cave at the top.

This hike was amazing. The first half was very smooth and simple, then it turns pretty rocky for the last mile or so. The very last bit was absolutely the best part though. I saw other people posting that the last 100 feet or so was a climb, so I was expecting something along the lines of boulder hopping. Boy was i wrong! It was a legitimate climb! I would say it was about a 60ish degree angle, which was exactly what i was hoping for! Most of the trail is great for most dogs, and older kids too! I will 100% be going back!

Great trail! The last 100ft up to the cave is a pretty steep climb up rocks... not very kid or dog friendly, but the trail leading up to that point is great. Definitely recommend boots.

i truly loves this hike. we went the day after a concert and easily got to the water. it got chilly as the sun went down so prepare yourself with a jacket. overall, easy hike to a gorgeous view.

Added it on to the Mt. Sanitas loop to make the hike longer (4 1/2 total). Nice way to start. Parking lot had plenty of space at 8 am.

Love this hike. Breathtaking views valley

Nice trail for a leisurely stroll. Super short but beautiful at the top. Great for a short morning walk. Kid-friendly!

very nice trail just very crowded and parking costs 3.00 every two hours or so, starts all uphill then kinda eases towards the end

Great morning hike! Lovely views in some spots and mostly very shaded. Does get a bit rocky and steep at some points but mostly pretty accessible.

Nice short hike, we went up the rocks to get to the top and hiked around the rocks for a while. Perfect for pictures! The rocks are gorgeous. Nice hike for being so close to town. Surprisingly, we only ran in to one person while we hiked the whole time. Good workout! Not for elderly or overweight for sure!

Great hike with the doggo this evening! The trail to the cave was nearly empty, with the exception of a few runners on the front end pursuing the Mesa Trail. The cave at the top was closed for bats, but beautiful views of the Boulder Valley and Flatirons throughout!

Lovely foothills loop with great views west of the Rockies at Mays Point and then it’s forested the rest of the loop. No dogs allowed on the boyscout section.

Stream and waterfall dried up as of late September. Found a lot of bird action at the 0.6 mile marker just over a 20 ft long wooden bridge. Fall colors were beautiful. Best time of year to take this hike for stream and waterfall is mid-may through mid-June. No road signs leading to the hike. Must use miles on your car to find for first time. Still 4 star because close to city and close to Boulder.

This is NOT A lightly trafficked trail. There were throngs of people. I suppose it’s nice if you’re a local, but I would not drive out of my way to come here again. If I hadn’t driven two and a half hours already, I’d have left when we had to drive away from the park and find side-street parking in a neighborhood.

Pretty hike but in no way easy. To my mind "Easy" would mean I can take Grandma and Grandpa for a walk in the woods with the kiddies. This is "Easy" relative to climbing a fourteener, but it's steep and I was concerned my shoes (trail runners with tread) would hold on the rocky inclines and declines with the loose scattered rocks. As to being strenuous yes, it was a pretty good little 30 minute workout, I would liken parts of it to going up about four flights of stairs before leveling out. If you're out of shape or over weight, or elderly this is probably not a good choice. But it is surprisingly wooded for being so close to town. .

What a beautiful trail and canyon very peaceful. Lots of animals to be seen. Amazing rock formation and imense geological variety.

took the family (Wife daughter 5 son 3) for their first hike. we had a great time. the waterfall is dried up at the moment but the lake was beautiful.
