so far the hardest I've done. depending on the trails you choose. I am rating while I cool down in the car. I am absolutely exhausted. humid and a pretty warm 97°. I'm sure I'll stop regretting it when I fully recover

It's a great DFW trail that has enough up-and-down to wake the calves up. It is well marked and clean. There are sweeping lake views, interesting insects in the summer (and no bites status post bug spray), wildflowers, and stands of old trees. The first hiker each morning will bash through hundreds if not thousands of spider webs in the appropriate season, so be ready or late.

This is an incredible hike for the view of the waterfall at the end. You can’t go into the water as it’s a protected area but you can still get good pictures. The very end of the trail is very steep and slippery, so be aware of that - there’s also lots of loose rocks so hiking boots might be your best bet. There is very little shade so try to go on a cooler day or early in the morning. The trail is dog friendly (on leash). It wasn’t extremely crowded when I went around 10am on a Saturday.

Really enjoyed the hike and our dog loved it too. Like others have said, it is a bit steep getting down to the falls but well worth it!

It’s a little difficult to get to the falls, but it’s definitely worth it! There’s a good spot to stop for lunch or a break at the bottom too.

This is a nice, flat, well maintained trail. Pretty waterfall that was flowing fast due to all the recent rain. Definitely use mosquito spray during spring, summer, and fall. This goes for any wooded area in Dallas though. I enjoyed this trail and will definitely be back to explore some more.

Best trail I have found so far in the Fort Worth area for vertical training. On a hot day (like yesterday) it can be quite challenging. Be sure to bring lots of water and some energy snacks. There are several points where you can bail out and walk back on the road. The first half of the trail is quite shady but the second half is much more challenging on a hot day as it is more exposed. I would suggest wearing long pants and high boots as there is a lot of low brush close to the trail.

awesome trail for getting in shape for thru hiking!!

pretty awesome trail..heavy moderate..lots of stairs. especially the set I call " stairway to heaven"...I stopped counting at 38 stairs.. DEFINITELY bring trekking poles if your older then 20..

Today was my first time hiking the trail. Actually, this was my first visit to Lake Worth. Yesterday we had heavy rains and tornado warnings and flash flood warnings. the trial was surprisingly dry and easy-to-navigate after such crazy weather. make sure you bring water.

Hike to the falls is full of wild flowers and cedar trees it is very rocky and offers little shade. The last part of the hike is a little scramble but there is a hand cable. Once you get to the falls it is gorgeous and more than worth the effort.

Great workout trail. Plenty of climbs and descents with crosstie steps and can be muddy in places after a hard rain. Several bridges spanning creeks. The landscape is very diverse throughout this trail from shaded woods to prairies. The old Civilian Conservation Corps sites are very interesting. Watch for Poison Ivy and be sure to bring enough water. I went through 4 liters easily.

24 hours after 2+ inches of rain had fallen, runoff was still flowing down lower portions of the trail, making it very muddy but still passable. Have lived in Fort Worth 7 years and always come back to this one because of the terrain. Love it.

Rough trail due to loose rocks but the waterfalls is one of the best that Ive ever seen.

love this trail. Just the right amount of challenging hills and flat areas.

I absolutely love this trail. I find it challenging, and that’s hard to find in and around Dallas/Fort Worth. My family has hiked this trail many times. We use it to help prepare for our annual summer hiking excursion to Carson National Forest in New Mexico. Lots of elevation change, steep stairs, varied scenery. You get a great view of the lake at a couple of high points. There’s an old CCC building off of the loop you can climb up to and explore. Beware of broken glass and old beer tabs as you climb up to it! There are a couple of small low places that get muddy and stay damp during winter and spring, even with marginal rainfall. They’re easy to cross, though. It usually smells like a bog in those two spots, but you pass through quickly. My favorite trail in DFW. I’m so glad it’s only 20 minutes from home!

nice trail. lots of ups and down. nice views.

small but nice and peaceful

Amazing piece of Texas. The steep path leading down to the falls has slippery rocks, but holding onto the cables helps. I had my Texas Heeler with me, which made it a little trickier, but she found her own way, and I dropped the lead for son to take. I’m a fit 66 year old but still had to go down on my butt sometimes.

The falls is the best part of the hike. The rocks were a little slippery at the falls but the cable helps.
