Snow shoed the entire way. The walk out was tough with a lot of uphill areas. It was a very long walk in the winter because most roads are closed. The view was beautiful!

Did this trail in the summer and it’s a super easy scenic hike. If it weren’t for the length, it’d be a solid beginner hike. There are areas to jump in the water and swim in the summer. Pack a lunch and don’t forget your bear spray! We saw a couple on the trail when we were there.

"Hard" is an accurate description - perhaps even a bit of an understatement - but my god, this is a beautiful hike.

I'm writing this several years after doing the hike since I didn't know about AllTrails at the time. This is still my #1 all-time steps at 40k on the Fitbit. Since the trail in the Nation Forest, it isn't well marked and hard to backtrack a few times when lost. It's best to not be alone like I was. It was a challenge but also came with great views. I was so tired that I napped for an hour at the top before coming back down. I was late 50's at the time.

HikingGreat!No shadeOff trailRockyScramble

In all honestly I wasn't well equipped for this hike and it was a lot more difficult than I found it marketed to be! Nevertheless, I loved it and would recommend it to those psychically fit and with good hiking boots! It's very steep with biggish boulders to clamber over and not a lot of shade, which during the summer season wasn't ideal! The views at the top are well worth it though and you have the option of using the cable car to get back down. We chose to climb down though and were rewarded with more stunning views and little side trails.

HikingGreat!

We took the scenic route up called meadow trail and it was beautiful with streams and colorful flowers. Truly gorgeous. It’s a hike but definitely doable for beginners for the first portion. Once you get to the last few miles it only gets hard and harder. The switchbacks at the top are steep and put you to work. However, it’s the final 1.5-1 mile that is a quad burner. It’s intense, over rock and the scramble at the end to the summit is a bit scary and slippery over all the loose rocks. But, when you get to the top and see Teton peak it’s truly breathtaking! Totally worth it. Then there is the downhill. Yikes. We took the wrong way down. We went the steep trail opposite of meadows called Face Trail, and it was beyond brutal. Avoid this way down! It goes straight down and over rocks. We were slipping and falling down the mountain. I have some harsh words for that trail, lol. Just go the meadow trail down if you want to save your knees and not fall down the side of a mountain, ha.

Great trail for the area. Loved the views at the lake and the scenery on the way there. We didn’t see any bears but would definitely recommend bear spray. Not a difficult hike, which was nice.

Very easy trail to follow with amazing views from the very start (Jenny lake) until the end in the canyon up to the lake. The hike is hard because of its length but not technical. On the way back we missed the turn left at the fork and went to inspiration point and had to turn back (at roughly 3.5km from the start). We had snow only during the last two miles (as of October 21st). We saw three moose and lots of friendly chipmunks. Amazing hike, worth the effort.

We completed this hike after deciding once we got to Phelps Lake via the Woodland Trail we would just continue on around the lake. It rained and was windy, but the rain/sleet was intermittent and we had some peeks of sunshine too. We were rewarded at the lake with a breathtaking view including a rainbow in front of the mountains. It was rough terrain for beginner hikers, but we managed. We even got to see a bear!

Nice steady trail that winds through the woods and keeps you close to the lake. North side of the lake was def the favorite. Enjoy!

A good variety of challenge and enjoyable. Amazing views! Lots of snow around Lake Solitude mid October but getting there was so rewarding. This hike is not for the faint of heart, definitely a lot of uphill.

Great trail! We went at 9:30 in the morning and only ran into 4 other people. Saw some fresh droppings but no wildlife other than lots of squirrels. Great views here and there.

Nice, easy trail with pretty good scenery. Although I didn't see any wildlife on the trail, I did see a small bear hanging out by the side of the road (as soon as I left the parking lot) and a moose at Schwabacher Landing (right before my hike at Phelps Lake). Took two hours and thirty minutes to complete.

Fantastic and different views along the whole trail. The beginning was a bit of a climb (the 1.3 miles on Woodland connecting trail) but once you reach the lake elevation levels out. We didn’t see any wildlife hiking in early afternoon but lots of bear and elk evidence. Definitely recommend hiking with bear spray. Took us about 3 1/2 - 4 hours hiking slowly and taking pictures along the way

Hiking

As a new hiker, I found it challenging. I took the “gentle” route both up and down. I was still exhausted! I am physically fit and run often but still found trouble on a few parts. I don’t recommend for older folks unless they are used to hard joint exercises. It was very pretty though and will definitely go back again next season!

Hiking

Amazing hike. It was my second one (Darby Wind Caves was the first) ever since I was a teenager. I am in pretty good shape but this hike killed me after I got past the first 3 miles. The last mile to the summit was very easy until you’re at the base of Table Rock. When I summited I was shocked at how beautiful the Tetons were. 10/10 worth the struggle. The last miles heading out are beautiful. 10/10/2020
