My husband & I did this trail with our 4 kiddos on the last day of our 5-day vacation to Tennessee. We totally saved the best day for last. Loved this Park & this trail as well as Blue Hole Trail.

beautiful trail, well maintained, Rangers were very friendly. We planned to hike the loop but we're caught up admiring the falls , looking forward to returning to finish the trail

The trip was great! Our group made it a small weekend trip. We hiked into Martha's Pretty Point Campground Saturday morning and then relaxed most of the day. We got up early Sunday morning and hiked down to Virgin Falls and back out. It was a nice weekend and there were a lot of people there. A lot of the people seemed to be day hikers although the campgrounds fill up fast, so book in advance if possible. I recommend making the journey up to Martha's Pretty Point overlook. It is an "extra" bit of incline hiking but the view from the top is worth it. As many other reviewers have stated, the hike down to Virgin Falls is worth it but can be deceiving as it's mostly downhill. The hike back up the trail can be a long exhausting trip for those who aren't physically fit. I consider myself a fairly active 26 yr old and it was tiring but I've definitely done harder. My recommendation would be to make this a two day trip if possible. There are a few campgrounds along the way (all with a beautiful setting) and this makes the trip a little less tiring, especially if you can make the hike to Virgin falls without any gear. Happy hiking!

it is a trail that is very well marked and it would almost be impossible to get lost. The Welch's Point Overlook is an unbelievable view of Scott's Gulf. Interesting variety of scenery!

Great place for a hammock and oh what a beautiful plunge type waterfall

Great hike with several types of viewable waterfalls and cascades.

A short trip down steps to the falls. A good warm up for the other trails.

Beautiful views, considerable elevation gains and descent. Tricky footing in some places over rocky trails especially when climbing or decending on the gulf. Take the extra .8 miles to see Ranger falls!

Beautiful!! The rough terrain of the hike made it exciting just to short of a hike. The rocks varying in size on the trail can make it little difficult. Waterfall was cool!!!

We came into the park from 399. The ranger at the ranger station was very polite and friendly to our kids. We hiked to the falls and back out. About 3 miles round trip. There were other people hiking some with dogs but everyone was friendly. Trail was clearly defined and had markers every 50 ft or so. We plan to go back and hike further.

This is an easy hike with some steps/stairs. It's a small waterfall but still pretty. It's a great addition when you hike to the Stone Door.

Great hike, especially with walking next to the stream for the majority of it and having several waterfalls. Also, there is a local there that will give you a ride to the opposite end of the trail since it is a through hike and that makes it really convenient to get back to your vehicle.

My family had a great time. Hopefully they fix the couple destroyed viewing points. We want to go back when the water is down so we can swim at the bottom of the big fall!

There’s really nothing to this trail it’s just a 3 mile hike by a river. I came into this hiking thinking is a least see one waterfall since you see some in the pictures but I was disappointed to find that this hike is really nothing special. Only reason I’m rating this 2 stats instead of one is because I went off trail and hiked by the Collins river instead of the trail.

Went last week to get a feel for the trail and made it just past Big Laurel Falls. Tough hike on the return though! Wish I had arrived a hour or two sooner to complete it. Will be back in a couple weeks!

Great hike!! Strenuous at times, but worth it!

Beautiful waterfall and very nice ranger at the trailhead. Very easy hike for kids and pets!

Love this trail. It has become more popular lately and can be a bit crowded at times. Great for swimming!

I’ve been hiking here since I was a child. Great day hike and plenty of other activities to do in the park.

Hiked this a few days ago it was beautiful. The waterfalls were peaceful. Rattlesnake Point was incredible, I’ll never forget that view. The beginning of the hike is a bit slow but well worth it.

Beautiful! Really steep though

Breathtaking views and great hiking! Love this park.

easy hike, trail well marked.

Amazing spot! My tracker measured as 10.5 miles. Difficulty is correct & you hike uphill a significant part of the return. Be prepared & don’t make them rescue you from out here.

We did this for a half marathon. It was tough, but fun.

Beautiful waterfall, especially when it is frozen! Also, only true hikers are out in this awful weather so that is a plus
During the summer though, it is full of "non-hikers" so it is pretty busy since it is a free place to go swimming. That being said, it is usually busy once it starts getting hot outside again.
Also, the hike back up from the falls is not my favorite thing ever so just be careful!

Great hike! It is challenging, especially when you hike down to the bottom of the falls because the hike back up is a rough one. I love this state park and it holds so many different waterfalls so I would highly recommend that you try all of the falls out! Also, if you can get a chance to see these falls in the winter, I would highly recommend it!

Beautiful falls. There are many places to hang out when it is busy so you won't have to be near other hikers. There are also some good hammocking trees for those who like to do that.

Beautiful views of a large waterfall!
Just be careful because they are not kidding when they say the water is dangerous. The last time I went the water would have been too dangerous to even go white water rafting.
But when the water is low, you can walk down to the river and take some really great pictures without hiking the trail.
