This was a beautiful hike I took with my 16 year old son and 50 lb dog. We went in the morning so we could finish the trail well before sunset, so started about 9 am. I am so happy I consulted all trails before going, because some other reviewers mentioned that they didn’t bring enough water. I took 108 oz split between our backpacks, and we drank it all. Other reviews mention a section which has large jagged rocks, and that it would be easy to twist an ankle on those. I second that. Hiking boots strongly encouraged.

Our hike was last year, and I can’t wait to hit this trail again in the fall.

Absolutely beautiful! Just wished it would have been a longer hike.

we backpacked to our campsite... it was amazing but definitely difficult with a heavy backpack! would love to do it again when the snakes are sleeping and without a huge backpack!

I completed this trail as a day hike. It is extremely beautiful. The mileage and strenuous rating are accurate. The path is extremely rocky along the old stagecoach section, and there are boulder scrambles in both directions from the beginning of the loop. This is a really nice hike, but I would recommend less experienced hikers build up to this trail and allot plenty of time for completion. Big Creek Gulf and Rim trails are easier and may be a good test run before venturing this way.

Beautiful trail. Not crowded for Tuesday hike. We took our dogs and it seems like everyone else we saw on the trail did the same.

very cool and gorgeous trail. very difficult at times. Definitely a quad and glute workout with all the steps. waterfalls are amazing

Great hike. improvements are continuing to be made.

Nice little hike, beautiful scenery! Whole hike, in and out took about 2 hours... and that's with exploring off trail and taking our time. Took my 6 year old. She loved it! Got some great pictures!

Great trail but it's closed past Sycamore Falls which was only around 2 miles in. Looking forward to going back after the gas line has been repaired.

Wow! The waterfall was beautiful. There were a lot of people. The hike back out was pretty steep, but well work the trip.

Great hike! Tough hike out with a 4 and 1 year old in tow but definitely worth it!

Part of trail unknowingly closed "until September" after I read it supposedly opened around August 1st. Arrived at 5pm from 4 hrs travelling, and a citation issued on the windshield of our car the following morning for camping d/t campsite being closed, but too far in to hike out after arrival. Embarrassed to be escorted out (on our way out) by Park Rangers (eldest with 3 months experience after telling us we would be cleared of citation for not actually having been 'found camping.') Beautiful sights, however. Do your research more in depth than I did, apparently, before staying here or hiking past 5pm.

very pretty. slippery rocks of course so make sure your shoes have tread on them before going. the trail winds from the land into the water to the rocks to get to the waterfall.

Interesting trail to hike. Has 2 rope bridges which are fun. also a mossy waterfall. also the main waterfall which is pretty has 2 shoot offs the ridge. Saw a copperhead snake. well marked path. It was shady. also lead to rattlesnake point which is a great overlook.

This is a short hike with a great, refreshing reward at the end. Beautiful! We will hike this one again.

Nice hike with nice falls. We added busby falls to the loop just to play in the water more

My girls (ages 3 and 6) and I just got home from this hike! Definitely a must... if you want to go behind the waterfall, follow the main trail. when you hit an open area, with a trail to the left or right, GO LEFT. You will eventually climb down to a sign the days "Lower piney falls." TAKE THE TRAIL BEHIND THE SIGN!

Very happy with this outing. The girls loved swimming. Water was cold and so refreshing. lots of bluegill and trout. We will be going again.

Nice place to take a easy hike to great views. The water fall loop take about 5 mins. The Stone Door trail is easy going in till you want to go down blow then it a little steep to the bottom. But at the top great views of the valley.

on Virgin Falls Trail

First hike for us. Grueling hike back but it was definitely worth it. We did this in eight hours including closing out the day at Welch’s Point. Will definitely go back to camp! We played in the falls at Laurel Creek and explored the cave behind it. Hiking down to bottom of Virgin Falls was breathtaking. Beautiful and powerful!!

Did this hike a few weeks back, for the first time. By the time we went back and explored a bit at all the main "sites" of the trail, it ended up being 11.3 miles. The hike itself was pretty but the falls, both at the bottom and the top are definitely a site to see. I highly recommend going being the falls, just be very careful.... there's a crazy drop down into some kind of underwater river system. Its just neat to see. will definitely be back. I don't have a ton of "difficult" hiking experience, but I'm a very active person & at times I struggled. It took us 6:14 to complete by the time we stopped for lunch and messed around at the various sites. If we were focused, we could have easily done it in under 5. We will definitely be back, loved this hike!

Most of the trail is meh, the falls are great. Be sure to keep going back until you see the large drop off that’s impassable.

This trail is absolutely amazing and beautiful. The overlook is stunning and it makes the climb totally worth it. However, make sure to be extremely careful and to look out for potentially dangerous animals. My friends and I camped overnight in a campsite near the main overlook and we spotted a mountain lion that hissed and growled at us on the way back to the campsite from the overlook. The next morning we saw 2 Black bear cubs and their mom as well as a few snakes.

gorgeous view and fun water hole to play in

Favorite. Incredible overlook at a couple locations. One has a little deck to stand on, the other you can be right up on edge. trees at both provide shade to enjoy the view. Beautiful. Paved until the deck, then has lots of roots and sand. Has signs and labeled, but still confused. I missed something, could not find the stone door....

Great place!! Short hike down stream then follow the river bed to the falls. Ton of people.

Stinging fork falls is 3 miles round trip, with a a 30-foot (9.1 m) high waterfall. the more tranquil and picturesque swimming holes

many sections are narrow, rocky, and have steep drop-offs into the gorge.

I found it strenuous but once you hit the falls it is so worth it.
It took us 4 hour and 30 min round trip at an elevation of 906 ft

Once you hit the cross the path above the falls there is a cool spot perfect for a picnic

It has a whimsical winding staircase going down to the falls. Great waterfalls. The base can be seen from the top and bottom. At the top, a boulder can be climbed to see another mini waterfall. i want to go back. it was fun.
